My point is this, Red mage is different in each game that you list, its abilities sometimes overlapping, the main thing that is consistent among those who are called "red mages" is their clothing.
What if one of the characters we've been told about.. perhaps Conjurer... wears the iconic red clothing of Red Mage?
I think its too soon to be upset if your favorite character type has not been represented, there are still more classes yet to be introduced.
Anyway, my two cents.
Edit: Also, I'm sure a lot of folks noticed a few games were not on that list, for instance 4 and 6, two of which are my favorite games. If this game didn't have red mages and it managed to be nearly as good as either of those two I'm sure no one would mind.
While ill miss the traditional FF jobs, I have no problem trying somthing new. FF VII, VIII, X, XII(the original versian) and XIII had no job systems at all. No reason why XIV can't do the same thing.

They are readying themselves for PVP combat. A traditional white mage can not survive 1 on 1, nor can a theif...
So they merge classes... White Mage with a summoner is a Conjuorer, a theif with a monk is a Pugilist...
It is you as a character, not the Job... kind of new... give it a shot...

PvP should never be balanced for 1v1 combat.
That being said, certain classes shouldn't be balanced to stand on their own.
With the way they are making PvE with more focus on fighting NPC parties, theres no reason to think that PvP in the game will be any different.
If they name the classes the same as in old FF games, people are going to whine/cry ****lack of orginality****.
If they dont name them the same people will wine/cry **** lack of tradition****.
No one is winning, get over it!
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
I'm whining, only cause the game isn't out yet.
8 people parties?! Awesome. I sooo badly wanna play this already.
more I read about this game, the better it sounds! Can't wait to play-wish there was a release date.
