In case you have not been following the entertainement news . Sony Music has paid the estate of Micheal Jackson 200 Million Dollars to 10 projects over the next 7 years.
Rumor has it that one project would be a Micheal Jackson MMO and guess who would help Sony Music with this task?
Next question , what content would there be to interest a current MMO player base?
A Gang Thiller dance Raid Perhaps?

What the heck, could be something different, and appeal to an audience previously untapped.

I would have to agree. We could make fun of the idea all day long but it would bring in a whole new untapped audience.

While a Michael Jackson MMO may be interesting, I think do not think it would work out. On one hand if developers tried to make a game where you feel you are in Michael Jackson MMO, the game itself would probably be horrible. It would be filled with features that probably would do little to help game play and content with the only purpose to make the game feel like a Michael Jackson MMO. It would probably be a shallow game that you uninstall the same day you got it.
On the other hand they could focus on making a solid MMO with good core features that many would enjoy. Then incorporate features into the game that are inspired from Michael Jackson to add value to it and not just to have in the game for no reason. Such a MMO could be popular but in the end not feel like a Michael Jackson MMO, just a MMO inspired by Michael Jackson.
Music MMOs? If they plan to make it like the current music-based MMOs around, I wouldn't really be interested - they're too shallow and casual IMO to be called a "MMO".
If they can tackle the genre and setting in a different way worthy the "easy to play impossible to fully master" I believe the MMO definition implies, then sure, music features enough complexity for a MMO if we have more than just playing instruments and more like a virtual world in which you evolve as a musician (and features a lot of related activities).
Maybe how the world works in the game could be based on MJ's life and vision, because everyone is bound to have a different vision of how things work and how good each thing can be.
Just remember to place a challenging depth with nothing that renders it pointless (like pay to win, or weak ToS enforcement). I wonder if there's enough of a market for it though, apparently if it isn't 95% about killing stuff it doesn't work as a MMO (theme park mentality).
Captain EO MMO Maybe?

So my side kicks name would be 'Blanket' and to replenish health I'd have to suck off little kids?
I laughed the day that piece of $hit died.
An Aliens vs. Predator MMORPG would be AWESOME!

When it comes to Michael Jackson's intended audience, I do not think they were left untapped. Can we assume that the MJ MMO would try to appeal to and lure children?
But on the positive side, I bet it comes with a dozen different /dance emotes to choose from.

How the heck do you make one (dead) man into a MMO?
I highly, HIGHLY doubt this is really going to happen. Didn't his Moonwalker video game on the Genesis completely flop?
I don't know how any music video game could be an MMO. Closest thing we got is U2 performing on Second Life.
There are large groups of entertainers on SWG that would gravitate to A MJ MMO in a minute if it featured dances moves.

I suppose if you get to sleep with children and bathe with them this could be a very successful mmo, in certain circles.
Here's an oldie, but maybe some of you haven't heard it.
Q. Do you know why Michael Jackson was always grabbing his crotch?
A. Because it was the only instrument he knew how to play.
