I'm pretty sure my PC wont play it as well as a PS3, so PS3 it is. But, hopefully I can just download the client for free and play on my lappy when I'm out and about.

PC. I have a gamepad anyway just in case it plays better with that.

I'd have to check the requirements but i'd doubt my laptop could handle it so probably PS3. I sooo need a gaming PC/Laptop xD

    I don't get that mentality.

"I'll be playing on my PS3 because of my 90" HDTV"

Do you guys realize you can rig an HDMI cable to the PC?

And not only will it look better, you'll get better controllers.

Ugh, I'm so torn on this one...

On one hand I have a great PC with a 30in 1080 widescreen lcd  with an i7, 6gigs of ram, and two gts 250s in SLI...

On the other I have a great 52in 1080 LCD TV w/ complete surround...

My gf already said she doesn't care if I hog the TV because she actually likes to watch me play FF (to good to be true).

    Decisions, decisions... :)

    Any thoughts?

Do you have a PS3 already? Your PC will rock the socks off FFXIV... My advice, just like everybody else in your shoes, get a PS3 and the PS3 version of FFXIV, then get the client for the PC and just use both. It will look sweet on your TV but then you have the versatility to play on your PC when needbe.

And let's face it, GFs say a lot of things that can get totally reversed in a month or two. Best plan ahead!

PC hands down. Eventually you can use third party tools, not to hack but if you are that hardcore into the game, to see others tp and such. In addition if you need to take screenshots or videos you can do that easier on the PC. Plus easier to manage account on PC. Plus if your girlfriends changes her mind at somepoint or has a show she would like to watch, you could stay on the PC. PC always the way to go. When you want smoother graphics you upgrade the vid card. Plus a Keyboard is better and not in your way with a PC, because its always there. On a PS3 if you like a keyboard you will have to unplug and replug in the game.

Hands down PC is the way to go for MMOs, imo. GL with your choice.

    Haha amen to that.

I do have a PS3 already and am enjoying ff13. I had not considered that you could use clients on the PC and PS3 for a single account. That seems like a pretty safe bet. Thanks!

It's not 100% confirmed by any means, but I can't imagine why you'd have to pay for a set of disks or DLD for a client when you already have an account. That would be silly.

You know the hdmi from PC to TV doesn't really work so well... I thought it would like you but it didn't.

I just got a Samsung 40" 120 hz 1080p TV (model LN40B630N1F), and when I hooked my PC to it with an hdmi the Text looked grainy and webpages looked awful. Games look alright tho.

When I plugged it in to the PC input which is the old analog VGA Cable (15-pin D-SUB), It looked prefect.

Some games I can't play on it because of the way the screen refreshs and have to switch back to my 22" Monitor.

So far that has only been 2 games, Bioshock 2 and COD: MW2.

BF Bad Company 2 looks awesome on it tho.

Have you tinkered with the resolution settings at all when you push video out to the TV?

Yea played with it for about an hour and I could not get the screen to look right plugged in via HDMI.

It may just be this TV... but it doesn't matter in looks Great with the VGA cable and I'm happy with it this way.

PC. I like using my mouse and keyboard. I also like dual screening and having wiki and ffxiah up on the other screen as I played FFXI so I'm hoping I can do the same for FFXIV.

But maybe both and dual boxing with PS3 if I ever get one.

Well, Sony will be very happy to hear that! Square-Enix on the other hand...not so.
