What i see is a game with the best features list i ve seen so far in any game. It would be definitely worth supporting IF and only if you could be certain that it is not just another attempt to grab our money by releasing a pre- order product.
Gamers those days have become very naive, and willing to throw their money at any product promising to be the best thing since sliced bread.
Personally i won't pre order anything unless i get to test this game or hear of a friend who is in the beta how he likes it.
The usual proceedure of the devs is to create an atmosphere of them just needing some more funds to polish the game into a gem.
However, once they grabbed your money, things go very different. Within a year you won t see any major changes, but only minor fixes. You cannot expect an unfinished product which has been in the developement for several years to get done within a years of time. If that was the case, adding one more year to the developement would not really have made a big difference.
The running out of funds, we have to release now theme, please pre- order without testing our games has to stop, or the game quality will suffer more and more.

I saw a video with the combat system and I look so boring.
"you are like the world revenge on sarcasm, you know that?"
One of those great lines from The Secret World
Now why would you look boring?
combat system is being tweaked/worked on devs have said... Their is active parry/block and dodging currently in you just attack to fast so its about spamming your mouse clicks.
Will be changed though
This game is very Indy.
I expect a basic sandbox experience but for most thats not enough.
They need a AAA quality mmo from a Dev that could hardly rub two pennies together.
Toss Xsyon in a Group with Wurm, Roma Victor, Love and Dawn tide as obscure sandbox titles made by a very small dev team.
If you played those games you know what to expect
For those expecting even a darkfall or FE quality game you need to search elsewhere.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Lol darkfall doesnt have any quality. Thats why all the darkfall players are on the xsyon forums now.
The devs have said all features on that feature page will be in for release except for the evolution section.. thats HUGE. And this game def has the potential to be the best sandbox ever.
Dude Darkfall is a much better game now than it was at release. Most of the people on this forum are the ones that thought they would like darkfall until they got ganked a hundred times in the starting areas.
Darkfall is ten times more polished than both Xsyon and MO. I mean the game has been out over a year now lol.
Addition: From the videos i've seen Xsyon can't touch the world or character graphics of even DF and so far the combat isn't even close. I agree the features are cool but people said that about DF also.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
looks like another darkfall/mortal online clone, but with roads. Destined to fail unless they do something about players murdering other players and stealing thier stuff.
The devs have stated it will not be a gankfest and if it turns into one, they will make design decisions to counter it. The atmosphere they describe is more like Eve PvP where you have higher risk areas.
first part is right the second is wrong
you can be killed everywhere (except in prelude where towns will be safe zones - until defense can be built) so it's not like eve where you have places with police
To my knowledge you can still die in police patrolled zones in EVE, even though it is highly unlikely. But yes, inherently some areas are safer than others.
I agree with everything you say here.
Few things I would like to point out about DFO.
1) Getting ganked 100s of times in the starting areas is a bad thing for new players just FYI, and isnt good for the game. (I believe just one of the many things that makes DFO have less than 5k people active accounts per server).
2) I agree DFO is 10x more polished than both Xsyon and MO. DFO also has been in the works for over 9 years now. Plus many of the core features didnt even make it into the game. (Skill cap anyone?)
3) DFO graphics are better than Xsyon in the way they look (My opinion and Ive played both). However, unlike DFO I can crank the graphics to max and still get 30+ FPS where if I do that in DFO, I get 4 FPS. Not even talking about sieges in DFO because I cant compare it to Xsyon. Features so far in Xsyon we dont know what will or wont be in for sure, if we trust the devs like we did in DFO, we might come up short, and have devs give false hopes like AV did with DFO. All we can do is really wait to see how the rest of the "Early Access" (AKA Beta) goes.
So far, combat is crappy in Xsyon however, almost everything is turned off. Terraforming is working very well, something I thought would be very hard to get working and its doing pretty good (Minor texture bugs so far is what I see).
DFO has been out for over a year, and still hasnt made it to how many people it started with. Doesnt that tell you a few things? I thought they should be growing, problem is they are not. Also looking at stats over the last 3 months, its getting smaller.

Looks like you are looking for another type of game. Try A tale in the desert.

i quite like the videos so far...

interesting, sure animations look a bit off especially in combat videos... but so did fallen earths, i have no doubt these can be improved... but the ideas... you gotta admitt even the teraforming does look pretty cool.
"nothing actually matters, we're just slightly evolved monkeys clinging to a dying piece of rock hurtling through space waiting for our eventual death." - Frankie Boyle, Mock The Week
From the Features:
"Character actions are tracked for Good, Evil, Law, Chaos, Karma and Luck. These factors affect creature reactions, town status, reputation and skills."
Basically Evil/Red players will be the Monsters of the world.
Are you entirely sure about the way PvP will work out in Xsyon then? Cause your remark seems to indicate Xsyon will become some sort of PK paradise and that is not what I understood from what the dev said..

I dug around for a little bit but can't find it, somewhere Jooky states That griefing will not be tolerated.
Yes, I remember him posting that as well. Jooky is aiming for a balanced, multi-function game although the exact game mechanics requred to achieve that result will need experimentation. He does not seem to be locking himself into any one method.
Personally, I am hoping for good tribal (guild) territory control to achieve this so that players within their own alliance territories will be reasonably secure and will work to keep their territorial defenses up. This would leave the wilds completely lawless.
I have a feeling he will deal with it personally if he has to. He said that if it was found that people were constantly macroing he would personal come in and kill them.
I agree, which is why if Katilla is saying that it look slike another Darkfall/mortal Online clone with roads, then likely they are not looking for PVP in a game at all. (Based on the fact that Xsyon WONT be a massive gankfest like those other 2 games).
I hope you understand now.

A warning to those who are interested in Xsyon only becasue of it's PvP feature and nothing else...
"indeed, the idea of combat mode is to allow those who want to run away to do so." from the official Xsyon forum
(the players who actually test the game were complaining about the very slow movement speed in combat mode)
No gank fest? This game is getting better each forum post i read...

Wow great news, exactly what I've been looking for !
I've been checking out the Xsyon forums daily, and have formed my own translation of the myriad threads and replies, and it goes, abridged, like this:
The hardcore PvP aspect of Darkfall (which I've played on and off for a year) is not the PvP of Xsyon. The word "carebear" is thrown around as a derogatory term, so I'll not use it, but...Xsyon seems to be a game aiming for appealing to more than just the "I wanna go kill people now!" crowd and the "I craft constantly and fight a little bit, but mainly craft my ass off" crowd. I've preordered and joined up with a tribe, and now I wait to play the game in hopes it turns out to be something spiffy.
We have a winner.
Pretty much what they are looking for to me too.
Also I think Xsyon will have a few things that PVPers will like, but again not like it will be Darkfall style of in your face we dont care because you are carebear style of PVP either.

This and this.
PvP is fine, but only as an equal part of the whole.
