You dont play WoW do you? In what way whatsoever does the dungeonfinder tool benefit to a social factor on a server level? It does not.. you que for a dungeon. you whine about your tank you whine about your healer and as a tank myself the dps is totally retarded in every way. The only thing people do is bitch and moan at eachother. How does this benefit socially? And on another point if for some reason you do get along and keep runnign those dungeons with them, unless they are from your server the next day you will never see them again. so please tell me how is this a pro for a social world?

So according to you standing at one place and typing LFG somehow brings WORLD back in World Of Warcraft? if anything thanks to this tool i have communicated with other players and made more friends in a week then i did in 5 months.

lol!yep you played a multiplayer game(one style i like)but did you play a massive multiplayer!thats what joe meant

where is the massive do you call grouping in 5 massive (i sure dont)massive for me was vanilla wow .they left that and moved to multiplayer !i dont care about that bbut since its no longer an mmo because in the eye of gamer means massive amount of player or nmc on one single map at a given time and for that to be achieved there as to be 1000 on a single map

some player tried to organise event in wow 4000 plus player on a single map crashed server(untentional)reason .

since this game used to be massive how come we cant anymore test it grab 1000 player npc etc on one map lets say one world dragon .or stv arena (external)you cant thats the point joe made .we dont mind the lfg thing if it will help

but hell us behing more secluded in small group then we already were

if at least it was also avail say in massive event mope cant its not avail in massive because wow left massive when then left

vanilla and addopted the guild wars method (instance the shit out of the game)

i love multiplayer game.but i also love massive multiplayer game!

You haven't answered me. How spamming LFG is more multiplayer then getting rid of that hassle and actually enjoy playing? organizing teams and tryign to get together people is not the only thing which makes a MMO massive. if players  like you were in abundance and low level players were getting all the help they needed, Blizzard wouldn't have implemented this tool. Communtiy failed as a whole to help eachother out so blame players and not the company.

I disagree.  People who hang out in Cities spamming trade chat for a group........ dont see the outside world.  With the insta-group feature I can fly around, pop into instance, kill, loot, kill loot, down final boss.  Bam, go right back to where I left off in my travels.  While in instance, healer leaves,  jump back into queue and BAM.  Instan healer.  It hasn't dumbed the game down.  Just made things a little more efficient.  People who have job's and a real life outside of the game can appreciate this.  If you dont like it, go back to Dalaran, Storm Wind or wherever and spam trade chat.

I'm still waiting for the OP or anyone else who agrees answer this question?  Oh that's right, you're interacting with the world since you need to travel to the instance for the 20th time.

They don't play the game, so they have no clue how populated the gameworld is (especially in Woltk zones).  You think the world will still be 'dead' once Cataclysm rolls out?

  • gexz7gexz7 Member Posts: 131

Half the fun of the world as they speak of it is this one example

Alliance use to have to travel to run Scarlet Montesary - running by UC trying to get into the instance was LEET for sure.  The whole porcess to run this place if you had a good group was 10-15 minutes to get there, and if you were lucky you could romp on some horde on the way before the door of UC opened with all them 60's on your butt.  This is an example of the world he is talking about

Another example. Onyxia - first you had to do this crazy attunment on both side, this attunement pushed you through a series of steps that people would take a few nights to complete. Yes you could do it one sitting but few did.  Then for the actual raid before summoning stones, you would have to get a warlock and a couple of friends to summon the other 35 people, all while being attacked by the opposing faction.

Molten core entrance fights were priceless and before priests got nerfed you could throw the opposing player with Mind control into the lava for a quick death, pricelsss.  On top of that it was always a fight fest for this Friday night dungeon

AQ20 world event, unlocking the gates of AQ was one of the most awesome things blizzard did, all servers would compete to unlock the gates and if you were that lucky guild a few bug mounts were given out.

This is the living breathing world he is taliking about.  Either way old times and if anything they should allow all the old dungeons to be completed on heroic.  The problkem its just not fun running the same instance night after night.

I think, in adding the dungeon finder.. they should have required attunements for all dungeons.. so that you had to travel to it at least once before you can queue for it in dungeon finder. My problem with it is the fact that people just sit in dalaran and queue. They don't go out and travel the world. They sit on their thumbs in dalaran and collect badges.. yep.. real fun.

I don't think this is a bad idea either, although to someone with alts it's an annoyance.  Why should I have to travel to an instance once when I've already done it with 3 other characters.  The thing the dungeon finder does do is remove the tedium. Plus it allows you to get groups for the lower level dungeons that before you normally would not have run.  How often do you think Gnomenergan was run as  Horde?  How about never.

Yeep.. The world is pretty much gone.

I'm planning on leveling my tank through the dungeon finder when Cata releases, cause i really doubt the quests will be fun anyway.. I'll just fly through the areas to see what they look like or to farm the quests for gold.

WoW is pretty much like diablo 2 to me now, i just go afk while waiting for a dungeon / looking for a room

Those that don't go "out into the world" now would not have done before either, other than to travel to the dungeons/raids that they have waited an age to get a group together for. The only difference now is that you don't have to spend all your time finding a group of people and then spend 5-15mins to travel to the dungeon only to have someone leave and have to travel back to a city to find another player to fill the spot.

All the dungeon finder has done is speed up a laborious process and actually allowed me the freedom to explore more than i did before as i don't 'have' to be in a city to get a group together now like a 'had' to be before. I have several L80's, but have done more of the quests and learned more about the lore since the dungeon finder as i have the freedon to travel and quest whilst also getting a dungeon run together.

This. It's gotten to the point where it's not about world exploration and community but about time.  DF gives you time to explore and mission and engage the community without just sitting around trying to get a group of people together.

Your going to be missing out then, because the devs has stated that everything about the old world will be changed, including quests and quest hubs.  Some zones have even changed level requirements.

Why is he going to miss out?  There are players now who have never experienced Azeroth and are leveling via dungeon finder with some minimal questing.  Why would this change with the xpac?
