Nice and intelligent review of AoC. It will be getting better reviews now with the expansion - for sure.
Looking forward to seeing sales figures. They can reach 1.5 mill former players with just one e-mail. Guess a lot of those will try it out.

You go to a lot of effort to talk about how unbiased you are but then say things like the above which are pretty clearly derogatory comments about "themepark" MMOs and WoW giving people things on a drip. You see the irony right? In an effort to defend yourself you state two clear biases that are commonly given by a particular group of people.
P.S. It's hilarious that you didn't get WoW's sub numbers correct (11.5 million) when they were just published.

I don't question your idealism for non-biased reviews. My hope is that you can remain untouched by the evils of advertising and money that will surely happen if you do well. Good luck to you though, the site looks great and I will be visiting it.

After five million does it even matter? I mean, clearly there are no serious competitors to WoW. It is a very nice game but he is right (even though a little blunt) that it is a themepark MMO that gives things to people on a drip. If we don't start speaking up now about what we want in a future MMO then we will be force-fed the same game over and over like we have been. Clearly most of us feel MMOs need to continue to innovate. Take the features that make a solid game but continue to evolve. I don't know about you, maybe you are happy playing WoW still, but I'm pretty bored with it after all these years.

That is true, although I'm not sure what it has to do with my post. I'm not defending either game as there is no clear innovation in AoC, just another game to hold a player over until something truly better comes out. I think a lot of people feel that way. As you know, a lot of people quit WoW and then go back, quit, go back. Its just a cycle. There isn't really that much out there that offers a superior experience. There are some die hards that play some of the other games (LOTRO, EQ2, Vanguard), but even they want something new.
Computers are about innovation. Unfortunately, the whole game industry (and the movie industry for that matter) has stopped innovating and instead have concentrated purely on technology, thinking all of us are stupid enough to buy the same thing over and over because it has a prettier face on it. The movie industry can't even promote original ideas anymore, instead they make sequels and remakes. Out of the millions of good fiction, scifi, fantasy, and horror books we are stuck with Saw 15 and Transformers 6.

Oh and be my guest and erase this one as well and I'll gladly contact John and see if we can't get your arse kicked from modding these forums so poorly.
I saw nothing in the OP review about MMORPG. The OP review seems pretty logical and thought out. What was the issue you had with the review?
This is something we both actually agree on. Both of our posts (and a few others) were deleted. Keeping folks on topic is one thing, but censorship is another.
What?!?! You don't think it was an amazing idea to redo Bewitched and A-Team? Both should have won Oscars.

I never once posted in this thread anything negative at all in regards to mmorpg.com, sir fanboi. So they wouldn't know, would they? But you sure want to put fuel on the fire with what is basically a bold faced lie.
No, you didn't post anything negative in this thread. You just got called out for what you've posted on other sites regarding this one. And I never said you said it in this thread, I said if he wanted to know the details of what you did do, it was in the posts that were deleted.

Right now, we're focused on making sure the site is working and implementing some forums, but I urge ANYONE to take a hard look at sites like MMORPG.com where it's all about the buck and about them. They care nothing about their readers except that they have dollar signs over their heads.
We will do EVERYTHING we can to provide the same quality (once the change is done) and news that they provide, but without bias. The difference is that we provide commentary from a guild leader's standpoint and answer questions in regards to guilds. And we are brutal when it comes to the truth.

And for Mr. Moderator, this is on the damn topic, as the lack of integrity shown by chaosngn/Sylassa reflects directly on the integrity of the review he is promoting. "Funcom supports us and we support them" is more than enough to question the motives behind the review.

I think I just found a poster that is more illogical and his tendency to the irrelevant is bigger than our dream team of aoc haters. He even pulls "mighty John" which is something I haven't seen our haters do.

The review was in general received good and is said to be fair and real. If the site it is posted on is anti mmorpg.com WELL GUESS WHAT - it doesn't matter.
Anyway I would like to congratulate the idiot of the month ... he uses the finaticd tactic - colored posts and tendency towards history but manages to add that special something that clearly wins him the title
