April 15, 2010 – Earlier this week, in the form of a creative and elaborate stunt that claimed the Earthrise development team was viciously destroyed by a Jaberwokie, Masthead Studios announced that the release of their upcoming MMORPG Earthrise has been pushed back from their original projection of Q2 2010. In addition to this news, the new estimation date for game release is scheduled for the fall of 2010.
The Masthead development team has been working diligently to produce a unique and entertaining game for MMO players, and in an effort to reduce the amount of issues that typically plague a new game as soon as it hits the market, the team has decided to spend some extra time perfecting performance and weaving a tapestry of lore that is sure to enthrall and entrance even the most novice of MMO players.
Select beta applicants should keep an eye out for the release of beta keys in the near future, and everyone should look forward to the appearance of the delayed, yet highly anticipated combat video!
Very exciting things are to come, so stay tuned!
And if you're confused as to what Jaberwokie is, read this and then read this.

Yeah, the official delay wasn't that surprising actually, but the little information regarding beta will make a few people happy I guess.
Took some major flaming to get atleast that much info from them. I notice it says "select people", im guessing they will be selectively choosing people for beta test.
I'm more than happy with this. If they feel they need the time then they should have it. Too many games are rushed out.
The only thing that I don't like is it will probably clash big style with Civ 5. I'll have to find time outside Earthrise...assuming it's all that.
Crossing my fingers...toes...anything else I can think of...on a beta key arriving in my mailbox.
Looking forward to a gameplay video.
.
No, they did not release this information due to "flaming". The only reason this information came to be is by Gallowglass and having fun. No flaming needed to get information from them just a friendly put stunt.
As much as Gallowglass would like to take credit for it, I don't think we had that much to do with it. They were going to release the info sometime, we probably just got luck with our timing.
It was the forum flaming that got you this release.
Again I highly doubt it that flaming had to do anything about it. If it was the case then they would have released information a while back. They have yet to leave us in the dark if the game is delayed or not. Why would you think they would leave us in the dark?
You people have no patience what so ever. Q2 just hardly started and people start getting up in arms.... give them a chance.
Must you look for things to complain about?

I thought that beta selection did not have any priority criteria, now it says "select beta applicants" does it mean that they were specifically chosen or is it still a random process?
As typical for MMO titles in development, beta invites are planned to be released in incremental stages to accommodate various testing needs, server loads, and the like. There's nothing out of the ordinary here.

Mako in this context I would assume that select refer to only a limited number not a case of everyone who signed up for Beta will get Beta.
This is exactly the case, as it is likely within "everyone who signed up for beta" that there will be some who simply do not meet the necessary technical specs and similar circumstances. (Still not the place to ask for a beta key, though. )
It is my hope this cleared things up, and we thank our community for being so understanding!
Well they said Q2; its almost may so they pretty much had to say something. We all know they wont tell us what the release date is the week before so this was a surprise to no one thats even casually followed this games development. I had no expectation at all this would be out any time soon so if the delay means a better game then they did the right thing. So many of these games got rushed out and failed miserably. This game has sort of flown under the radar anyway so its not like they have the expectations that some other high profile games had. Delays are the norm for MMO's anyway. As long as they get it out this year I don't think people will lose interest.
what are you talking about? explain please.
Yea but the longer they make it the more people will lose interest, right?
what are you talking about? explain please.
Gallowglass made up a little story and sended Masthead a present and a letter.
It was basicall ment as an april-fools, but Masthead used this event very good to announce the delay.
Not really.
The interest will be there, once the first open beta videos get released on youtube.
The interest was never really that big so far, if you look at the user-numbers on the official forums.
are you tlaking about the Jabber wookie? explain it more please. even if its jabberwookie i still dont really know what happened there/
Oh the interest was really high, as i posted bfore, just look at how many original forum users dont post anymore. who knows if they are actually going to come back or are well occupied with another game. And im sure original hype was pretty high since this is the best SCIFI mmorpg that will be coming out in the past 8 years probably, excluding EvE, since it was more of a spaceship mmoprg.
Forum activity pre-release means very little. Those that were interested will take a look once more info becomes available. That said, I'd love it if they hurried up.
honestly delays just mean bad planning but i feel everyone who was interested in the game would still try it out, like if this game was scheduled originally to come out in the fall out 2010, no one would of said anything about people losing interested. all it means is that they got our hopes high. I am still excited to play this game but the timing for this spring would of been a better launch time then fall, but personal opinion
