Oh joy of being a casual gamer. 50 hours is more then enough play time for me. Hell i won't even use more then 30 hours in first month. So yeah works great for me. And monthly sub is cheap too, only 9 bucks;) awesome deal really. Looking for ward to release.
oh joy i can play any other shooter with better mechanics for free or i can play any other mmo with content for a trifle more oh joy fawn over it more please
QQ. If you don't like it, don't play it.
lol people cry about the state of mmos and then wave the banner for what is killing them funny stuff
Players who whine until everythign is like WoW are what's killing it.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Well, we better get used to this new idea of monthly payment, cause we will probably see it in all EA games (SWTOR). Pay a monthly fee for unlimited access and pay for the hours you want to play. This model is very popular en Korea, and it has its logic. I can play, mostly all day, but my gf and my dad, that work, can only play during the weekends, so maybe they will find more appealing the idea of just pay for the hours the will actaully play and not for the whole month.
I honestly think this is something good, cause they are giving us the regular way and a new way. I would be angry if the only method of payment was to pay for hours of gameplay!
I don't see a problem with this idea. It's great, and flexible. Doesn't force you to do anything.
I am gonna agree and say I love pay per hour, with an optional monthly.
It's the best of both worlds and proabably only on these boards, full of 'F2P' asshats, would it even be challenged that way it has.
So many in this thread have argued a point without seeming to understand it.
Very well said. APB is going to be pay to play, like it or not... and there are some who will find the pay-per-hour option the best model for them. I have a friend who generally only plays games for a couple hours a week, and $7 for 20 hours would be great for him since hed basiclly be paying $7 for two months at the rate he plays. And since you still have the $10 a month (likely cheaper with multiple month purchase) option, if you play a crap load you don't have to pay $7 every 20 hours. Its great for everyone. As hard as it might be for some to believe... there are people who don't play games for 100 hours a week.
And I know all the f2p crowd are miffed at the payment model, and claim they were lied to and yadda yadda yadda... but RTW said the game would be semi-f2p and would have a non-traditional payment plan. Thats all true. The social districts are free to play. Try as I might, I never found anywhere that RTW claimed the action districts would be free. And besides RTW has to pay for their hosting fees every month, and you really don't think they are going to shoulder the bill themselves do you? Doesn't work that way. Sure APB might be more focused and have less to do in the grand scheme of things then a game like WoW... but it is 1/3 cheaper per month.
I really fail to see where the complaints are coming from when it comes to the payment model. It all seems reasonable to me, and Im quite cheap to be honest.
The only problem I have with this payment model is that apparently according to many sources the game isn't even finished yet so how can you possibly charge anything for an unfunished game ? Hello EA how are you! I'll wair 3-4 months after release to check it out.

Well this is why beta tests have NDAs. Theres still 2 months till release... thats a ton of bug fixing and impimintation time, and its a little early to go off saying the games going to be unfinished at release. With that said, a "source" Ive talked to who I trust seems to disagree with thoes claims of the game being un-finished for the most part. I chose to believe this person rather then some random people on the net who might either have no knowledge of the game itself, or might simply not like it and are trying to trash it (seems to happen all to often around these parts). One also has to remeber that what constitutes a "finished" game is very subjective... especially with an MMO which is never really finished since its undergoing constant development.
Tho in all honesty early releases seem to be the norm now, and as the cost of game development goes up its only going to get worse, especially for a game like APB thats been in development for what seems like ever. Eventually they have to say "Alright, lets do this" and start getting the money rolling in.
Well this isn't good news, I thought this was going to be a Guild Wars type method with some pay options on clothing/etc. $10/month isn't much but at the same time it isn't a real MMO. I hope it does well but this is going to hurt sales.
I disagree, you get all of the customization and the ability to chat with other players, join clans, form them I think and even show of all your neat custom stuff for free. You can actually play 50% of the game free and if you make nice custom stuff and sell it for RTW points, you can get cash and game time.
You can do all of what you described in GW for free give or take. That game is still around too.
I don't think it's a wise PR move to hop from the GW method to a different one as the game is about to be released. It will make the company lose sales if you want to accept this or not.
The cost factor of $10/month is nothing to me. It just seems sort of a bait & switch, maybe not the best term but close. I assume they went this route because of how much money was dumped into this game, isn't it around 30 million or more?

First saying the game will be B2P with some optional payments, then switching to pay-per-hour is kind of lame imo.
Although the pricing is lower than usual.
I'm gonna try to get a look at the beta before I think about purchasing this one.
