wow at the character creation... best one yet?

I was a little gobsmacked at the char customisation in this game.... Looks so good. I wasnt expecting it tbh.

Add this to the LastFM music tagging system and the seeming in deph player creation tools (music, models etc) and I think I will actually be watching this now.

Damn, thats pretty impressive. Wish every MMO had that nice of a creation system. You seem to be able to really finetune it to look exactly like you want, whereas must o fthe games with what has been considered good customization limits you to certain presets with a chance for only very minor changes.
lol yeah i Know... makes pretty much everything I have seen up to now look kinda poor... even CoH (accepting the genre of the two games allows CoH to offer more exotic options)
Yup, customization is pretty extensive in APB.

I know... I loved GTA, Crackdown, even Lemmings lol, but I really thought that this was gonna be just a shallow shoot em up flash in the pan game that RTW would make some money off and just move on.
There are some almost genius elements to this game from what I have seen in terms of community creativity, and RTW actually seem passionate and dedictaed to the project...
I am almost a believer, can't wait to see more as we approach live.

yeah, I've seen this video before. Best character creation tool I've seen, also great that you can use your own made tattoos and such.

Its definitely one of the impressive factors of the game (not the only one by any means) though i think these days we tend to expect a high level of character customisation from our MMO's ... WoW's is more than a little dated now.. and so many (i won't mention their names here
) games seem to have a choice of just a few heads, colours etc... with little to really distinguish one toon from another.. i look on this as a good thing as it will force other mmo developers to up their game in this respect... hopefully (looking at sw:tor here!) well im getting APB - ASP!
I really am glad that the character custimization is going to be so in-depth. I'm not going to name games either, but I have played some games where all the White Male characters look exactly the same as with all the White Female, Black Male and Females, etc. I want to be able to tell my crew by just looking at their character. This game provides that, which makes me one happy camper.
This about sums up my opinion on 90% of MMO character customization:

actually COH/COV and Champions Online are the best ones yet
sry it doesnt even compare to COH/COV or CO especially after factoring in hats and clothes(after that point your just another face in the crowd with maybe a different logo) both of these games you can make a character to look like you want it to and dont have to worry about a hat or gear covering it up
That was pretty sick, I'd say its the best one yet. With all those options you can truely make your character unique looking.
APB might not be as flashy as robot heads and angel wings, but in terms of attention to detail, and the ability to look like a unique individual, APB is lightyears ahead of every other MMO I've seen, including CO and CoX, not to mention strong contenders like AoC and Aion. That's not even including the decal system, that lets players make basic images to use as tattoos or art to put on clothing and vehicles.
Big question is just whether the rest of the gameplay is good enough for players to really care how unique they look.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
This is probaly one of the best creations ever. Many things are customizable and which many games didnt have except CoX and CO. This is by far imo the best char creation

You have to consider you're comparing a game based on Comic Book Super Heroes to a game based on life (realism). Of course people are going to wear what they would normally wear in such a game. Which for a lot of people that's Jeans and a T-shirt. So of course you're going to see tons of that around. How different can a T-shirt look outside of the label/logo?
You'll see a a lot of similar outfits I'm sure, as it's for the most part every-day clothing.

could also be that they use a guy wearing jeans, tshirt, and baseball cap as a placeholder, before the game loads customization data. so if thats all you're seeing, maybe you're just lagging.
I wasnt lagging it was starter gear that people got from doing missions or bought in shop wasnt any place holder, its true you can do fine tune details on your character a bit more than other games but once you start putting gear on you start looking like others and some have better than others from more playtime but isnt no different than any other mmo other than COX or CO because there you create your characters look and it stays that way you just add enhancements that only change the stats of your char not gear that changes looks or that has the possibilty of several having the same gear and looking the same.
Even Fallen Earth has a decent character creator except you cant change the height or weight of your character much but in the end it all gets lost when the gear gets added.
You are just speculating Asheram. What makes you assume that the customization in APB is different from CoX and CO?

I read them, if you were in beta you would know how it works.
It's very nice in a real world kind of way but no better or worse than CO.
ok i guess i am not in the beta because you say so and i guess every starting character doesnt look the same after they all put on their backwards hat and low slung jeans hiding all the "character customizing" they did in the character creator
