General: Mega Man Online Announced

Capcom announced its plans for this fiscal year recently, which normally wouldn't have much relevance here at MMORPG.com, except for the fact they have just revealed plans to develop a new MMO based on the Mega Man IP.
That's right, Mega Man Online or MMO (har har!). The project is part of a joint development deal between Capcom and Korean games publisher Neowiz, though no further details are available. Earlier last month, Capcom trademarked Mega Man Universe with the US Patent & Trademark office, which may be related.

Would you be interested in an MMO based in the Mega Man universe? I would, as long as every male character would be required to have -man at the end of their name. I also want a robotic dog companion -- make it happen Capcom!

Sounds interesting, I just wonder how everything will work. I pretty much stopped playing them after 3 so Im outta the loop with Megaman.

I would need to see more about the game. I liked the Megaman series when I was growing up, but I haven't followed it lately so I don't know if there's enough lore already in place to create an immersive MMO world. I'm sure they could think up something, but with all the stuff that's coming out in the near future it would really have to wow me...

I think it could work, if you forget the actual character and think about the universe it's set in it'd actually make a pretty interesting setting for a game.
Gameplay wise it could be pretty awesome, with tons of power customization and whatnot. It would be neat if you could learn other players' powers by defeating them in PvP or something. A man can dream, right?
In any case, I guess we'll have to wait and find out!
I have absolutely no idea how this will work, but this is hilarious news. I agree all names should have the -man ending. I'll preorder it just so I can reserve Man-man.

The mega man referenced in South Park actually is ficticious. in South Park Cartman asks for 4 Mega men that combine into a Super Mega Man... kinda like the power rangers who were still popular when that episode aired like 12 years ago (holy crap I'm getting old).
In the Capcom Megaman games, he never combined with other mega men to form any super megaman.

So sick of every IP being turned into an MMO now. You can typically tell when there is little heart behind these projects, and this will likely be one of them. Its like turning every single comic book into a movie.

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.
This will probably be console only. I don't see Capcom making a PC exclusive mega man title. (though they have released some of the X series on the PC before, but never exclusively to my knowledge)
Man-Man made me lol. I can even imagine his backstory. "As a child little Timmy Twospoons was bitten by a radioactive man. As he grew into adulthood he developed all the powers of a man. He became.....Man-Man.
I had gotten the power rangers reference but it's interesting to see that this mega man has nothing to do with "South Park" Mega Man.
When I saw it here All I could think was "they are making a game based on a south park reference?

If this plays like Maple story without the horrid grind and cash shop, it could work, though it gota be like viewtiful joe to have my money.

Was thinking the same thing. Was a great game, still go back and play it once in awhile when i get bored on my emulator. They could easily take a lot of the stuff from Megaman Legends and make it work in an MMO, played very similar to current console RPGs, and would work pretty well if ported for the PC too.
I prefer "Now I know, and knowing is half the battle" lol.
Anyway, Mega-man is an interesting choice for an MMO. Sure it has back story, there was even a cartoon based on it. I just think it' sounds like a cash in, Capcom wants a piece of the MMO pie as well it seems. Of all the Capcom I.P.'s to create an MMO out of, I'm not exactly sure why they'd pick it.

Personally, I was more fond of the X series than the original. Much more story to work with. MM Legends was great and would be the most viable model for this, but I doubt it'll go that way.
Honestly, though, this is holds little interest for me. Despite the fact that I love the different MM stories, this just gets a "meh" from me.
