Well supposedly at least archers can obtain binocolars, also when sniping as an archer you go into a 1st person shooter mode. So maybe it attract some 1st person shooter people too. Though it might be a bit hard to adjust. Still sounds fun.::::01::

EDIT: That reminds me by the way explorers supposedly can sell their ingame maps they chart.

Im worried... I think that theres gonna be one major city everyone loves and will build their homes near and will crowd around the auction house and there will be 100,000 people in one little area and it will lag so much that everyones computer will crash and burn!!! image

This is how I see it, PAGamer08.

It all depends on how easily a player can travel the world. If players can move freely from the safe zones to the open pvp zones then I suspect each side will have 1 town that will become the place to go and trade. Players would probably rather trade in a safe zone so you’re protected from getting killed while trying to trade.

It makes sense to go to wherever the crowds are to buy and sell items. If traveling takes time (no instant teleports / summons) then small trade towns will probably pop up wherever they are needed. Regardless there will always be a hotspot for trading where the population level is higher.

As memory serves their is a way to teleport between the 10 mana towers on the world, though one needs to have been to the mana tower at least once, and probably your side needs to have control over it perhaps? I believe the devs said there were about 10 major cities/towns. Though since they are using a server cluster busy areas will be managed easier, afterall when one server begans to lag another one begins to pick up the slack.

Edit: Oh and personally I prefer realistic armor/weapons since none one has really done very accurate weapons, especially on war hammers. Just check out www.museumreplicas.com and you will see how cartoony most warhammers are, well that and the old ball and chain.

You can transport between mana towers if you've been to them and they are connected with no breaks (say your light, their can't be a dark tower in your path) There is a number far more vast than 10 towers lol. prolly more towards the range of 10Kish. And there are other safe points on the map that are PvP safe virtually, there is the one massive town, Al-Drifa where dark and light can both go. A lot of the mines are safe (though they arn't as good as the ones that ARNT safe) and goods can even be sold right on the spot there. Other than that there are a number of transportation systems in place. So really, it might end up with one city being the trade center, or it might not depending on how things work out.

One large town that is safe and open to both dark and light? That would be where I went to trade my goods. Actually my question is this; Would players want to trade with members of an opposing faction? This games going to have so many players on one server. Seems like it might be better to keep it in the family so to speak. Presumably a bad thing to help the economy of an enemy. So maybe I would go to my factions major city instead.

    Thoughts?

There will probably be "grays" (people who don't care whether they are dark or light) that will be spending all their time crafting and selling in that major city ::::39::

http://www.vworldpowered.com/ and a cluster server that will be able to support it. It's a parameter based system, enabling them to expand the land as they choose, so it could actually be more than 40000KM^2 if they wanted it. A wide range of graphical settings should be availible for the user so you wont need a top of the line computer to play. Lag from the server shouldn't be a problem because of the cluster, if it gets too bad, other parts of the server will pick up the slack. Filling with content shouldn't be a problem.

Hmm... Im wondering... will a large part of this 40,000 sq. KM consist of water?? How large are the oceans? how many huge lakes will there be?
  • DubbleedgeDubbleedge Member Posts: 72

Well the oceans will probibly be just around the end, of the land mass, Ganareth is a continent. By the screenies I'd guess not too much is actually water, just about the same as in RL. But hey, who can really know? We haven't played the game.

From looking at the maps linked to the thread above , the land mass looks to be approx 60-70 % of the world.  At 70%, that would put the land mass at 28,000 sq. km.  Still plenty big for me :)
