you mean this poll:  http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/279830/POLL-10-days-and-counting-Do-you-think-the-game-will-survive.html   The one where the OP goes on for literally PAGES, listing every single bug, fault, and misttep throughout the history of the beta, and THEN asks the question?

Come on, you ask me to be fair:  Are you REALLY implying that poll's results are valid?

And read through that whole thread;  you will see some familiar names repeatedly.

And I did not say 5 people don't like the game; it's a niche game, it's not for everyone.  All I'm saying is that 5 people spit most the venom, then say "Look at all this hate, the game MUST suck"

No.. that wasn't the poll I meant.. I meant the ones previously linked in other threads.  Not going to dig them up as it really doesn;t matter what peope USED to think.  What matters is what people think NOW... and what they think on July 9th.  Time will tell.

If the game is running as well as several posters here have claimed.. it will survive.  If not.. then the market will take care of it.

Don't have to, look at the official forums. A lot more than 5 people think the game sucks. Why worry what's happening on MMORPG.com.

Yup, they're all in the non-subscriber forums.  That gives me pause... not that there's no discontent in the sub forums, but just because a bunch of troll-posts pop up in public general chat doesn't really say much...

For the people that are waiting days for the patches to download here is some information that may help you:

"First off this issent so much a question but rather an answare to a lot of questions being asked the past 2 days.

in order to speedup your download you can use your own torrent download software insted of the client, for some resone this seems to go a lot faster.

what you need besides torrent software is the patch file which is located in your "mortal online directory"/patches/ (mopatch0to05)

drag this file to your torrent software as you allways do and watch it download at a lot higher rate than usuly.

once the file is done downloading, copy it to your

    "mortal online directory"(mortalonline) directory.

now startup the client again and watch it download the patch very fast and now your able to apply the first part of the patch.

next is the 2 part of the patch which is a 265mb file." - Cyberraptor via MO forums from 2009

I had started downloading the patch from the primary MO game client a few hours before I found this information. Then I did what this person suggested and it is almost caught up to the MO game client download. The average download rate from the MO game client is ~1kb to ~ 100kb with it being closer to the ~10kb most of the time. The Bittorent one is ~20kb to ~250kb+ while being around ~50kb most of the time. I figure I will let both of them go and see which finishes first. Netflix Farscape marathon until it finishes woot! <3 Netflix

From what it sounds like this game is pretty different from the majority of games being released. It will be a refreshing change from the usual enter into game, find quest NPCs right near you, and do easy quests until max level. I like that it doesn't have a beginner tutorial and hand holding. I am not getting my hopes up though while I wait for the downloads to complete. Quite possible I will hate it, but it is doubtful as I have a fondness for unique games.

Because it resolves the circular argument of "5 people hate the game", "Only 2% of players like the game".  The only answer will come when people have to pay their subs or cancel them.  That's really the only number that matters after launch.

By looking at the official forums, a very large percentage of the actual players enjoy the game.

FunkmastaD was correct - the majority of vitriol poured out on this forum came from a small handful of people, and was not representative of overall sentiment toward the game.  They were clearly trying to create and reinforce a negative perception of the game through volume posting and spin.

To the OP, I hope you are able get your problems resolved quickly.  I'd offer help, but with my lousy computer skills, anything I'd suggest would probably cause your computer to explode.

    Cool.  Very good information.

Also, I agree with the assessment you have in the second paragraph.  It is a very different game, in a good way.

For the people having the Entry Point Not Found error this information may help:

"Go to the patches folder in mortal online - Copy all the patches to a backup directory (should be a few GB so you know which items to get) Then uninstall Mortal Online, and reinstall with MOSetup.EXE

after its done installing, put the patches back in the original folder (you will have to create the patches folder yourself i think)

I had to do this once before myself about a month ago"

You don't have to redownload anything... like someone already said.

Man this sounds like a failed launch once again. Has to be added in the failblog list of MMOs along with Darkfail and D&L or is there still hope for redemption ?

On paper game looked fine, i received a mail to test MO once tho, and all i faced were half nakked dudes with their shlong hanging around and chasing me with axes, in a crappy gameplay mode (like 4 seconds to swing an axe) ? So i'm like, oh yeah, great... Well i hope it'll turn out well for the daring who give this game a try. Good luck fellas, may you have fun and the game servers be up !

I don't think it's a coincidence that my two favorite MMOs had very smooth launches. While FFXI seems too complicated compared today it was smooth and stable and Guild Wars also launched without problems. I guess I'm just saying I think having a bunch of issues at launch doesn't speak well about the company.

Note: I'm not saying this game had a bad launch. I have no idea as I haven't tried... I'm just speaking about problem launches in general. I don't think anyone should have to play a very buggy game while they get out the kinks. They should get them out before the release it. At least major game affecting ones.

You see, it is people like the fanboi above who are ruining the industry in general. With an attitude like that, more and more developers figure they can release some half assed beta game that takes 3 days to get into after launch, and fully expect people to pay money for it while they finish developing basic game mechanics. Call me crazy but when I buy a television, I expect it to work. Not plug it in and watch a blank screen for 3 days while I wait for a software update to fix it. It is NOT asking too much to buy a game and expect to play it the first day. Experience has taught me that this is usually not the case, but when idiots like yourself actually think it's fine and dandy then you are sending a message to future game developers that this is an accepted practice and it should NOT be accepted as the norm.

But it IS the norm.  You can find it unacceptable all you want, the fact remains this is what always happens when MMOs launch.  Getting righteously indignant accomplishes nothing.  Either accept facts or make your own game and launch it flawlessly to prove me wrong.

Keep calling us fanboys, but the fact is we just accept reality without losing our cool when things go - let's face it - exactly as everyone expected.

I'm reinstalling the whole damn thing myself. I could only log in for about a minute at a time before crashing. Plus I was getting no sound whatsoever. It's definitely disappointing, but I know launches can be a bitch. As long as I can get in by this weekend when I'm finally off work I'll be happy.

Our spirit was here long before you

    Long before us

And long will it be after your pride brings you to your end
