Seriously this isn't Star Wars, they are insulting everything Star Wars stands for. I mean nice movie but not Star Wars at all.
Are you nuts? This trailer is more Star Wars than anything Lucas has come up with in the last 20 freaking years.
Jedi/Sith aren't wearing robes. IT'S NOT STAR WARS! Jedi didn't wear armor, WTF? They're supposed to be like the Rangers of the North from The Lord of the Rings. Few, secretive, but powerful and a force of justice. And did you see that Jedi chick using a double-bladed lightsaber? Do you know how FEW actually mastered that thing? Darth Maul was one in a million! Now every Consular and Inquisitor will be able to use it! It's a travesty, a true CRIME!
There are explosions. IT'S NOT STAR WARS! Star Wars was about the inner journey Luke took to become a jedi, not 'SPLOSIONS GALORE for ADHD children.
That Jedi used the Force. IT'S NOT STAR WARS! Everyone knows that the Force can't be used like that. It's disgusting. The Force should only be used conservatively or perhaps for mind control, not to fell trees or crush rocks. Nevermind Count Dooku collapsing those pillars with the Force at the end of Episode II! The last three movies were garbage! THEY WEREN'T STAR WARS EITHER!
And, lastly, if anyone thinks I'm being serious, don't bother replying. Please.
Crocko - they've made their own IPs, why can't they do something popular? What else are they going to show besides Jedi/Sith? This trailer showed Troopers, which I like, and some enemy droids. But not having Jedi/Sith is like showing a WAR40k trailer about TAU FIRE WARRIORS instead of Space Marines (LOLOLOLOL!)
Yeah, I just love the story behind the double bladed lightsaber . Especially seeing how the only jedi / sith that use them , are those out to literally seek battle constantly. to kill. Same reason why certain jedi use blue lightsabers. means the same thing.I'm sure the green one means they were more diplomatic.
Edit: Also, this is not towards you at all, for I'm agreeing with you seeing how you were just being sarcastic :P. But I don't think many people who look at this game understand they are basing it off of the KOTOR UNIVERSE, NOT the original Star wars episodes.... this is way before vaders time, or even let alone anakins in general. knowing since anakin and vader are the same etc.
Dear Bioware, can we please have character models styled like this (detailed/gritty) instead of the crappy clone wars styled ones we're getting right now )=? Please?

I would be so on board for TOR if they did that exact thing!

I wish they would atleast darken the colors up a bit. It's too cheery and colorful for my taste. It works for fantasy like Warcraft but it doesn't seem to fit the dark, gritty style of Star Wars. Oh well. Maybe it'll be fun atleast. I definitely think it will be harder to take the incredible voice-dialogued story serious when the characters look like they belong in a saturday morning cartoon.

The characters look like lego star wars. Really disappointing.

Fisher-Price graphics may work for WoW's community, but they do not work for the game...lol.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Lukas once impressed us with the term of Used Reality which gave the Star Wars movies its epic style. Bioware should have followed that path, very dissappointed.

Finally, guns aren't what give me a hard on for Mass Effect. Things like plausible dialogue, character development, you know, stuff that people over the age of 14 actually enjoy in their entertainment.
That's great, but come on, if you want to go there why not just sign up for "my dinner with andre - the mmo" and be done with it. Or should we just have a game where we all sit in a virtual field and discuss the poetry of Wallace Stevens?
These games are more than the sum of their parts and part of what makes them compelling is that they can be many thing to many people.
Sorry but "action and 'splosions" dont' just appeal to kids. There is a certain escapism and a certain revisiting our enthusiastic youth that action movies and games can appeal to.
Does that mean that when one becomes an adult one has to give up football games, sledding in the back yard, and Carnivals? Not to this adult it doesn't.
It's ok to integrate the excitement of our youth into the wisdom of being an adult. You might not enjoy action and might not be wired for it, fine. But to belittle it becuase suddenly "adults shouldn't like that" just smacks to me of fuddyduddyism.
Reminds me of a time in college whe some guy was "holding court" with some co-eds and basically stated that "nothing less than shakespeare ever touches my eyes".
to that I say "please!".
No where did I say I don't appreciate action, that's all your projection.
All I said was that the mere sight of a lightsaber doesn't incite me into some spastic ritual of fanboism like it seems to do with everyone else, simply because I've seen it a thousand times already in every SW film, game, comic, and novel ever made.
Furthermore, these Jedi powers are so over-the-top as to be ridiculous. I mean, really stopping a saber blade with your hand? Lol. It's like a constant battle to one-up the last guy in a series of Michael Bay-style implausible action sequences.
As I said, I'm looking forward to seeing what Bioware does with an mmo, but most of you are so easy to please that they could throw feces on the screen, toss a lightsaber into the mix, and the oooohhing and ahhhhhing would be heard round the world.
Lukas once impressed us with the term of Used Reality which gave the Star Wars movies its epic style. Bioware should have followed that path, very dissappointed.
I believe the term was "Used Future" -- but yeah, I agree. It could be grittier.

The polish will different for anything in the Star Wars Universe depending on exactly WHEN it takes place. When the galaxy is prospering, there won't initially be a lot of grit.
The trailer raised the hair on the back of my neck when the troopers charged. The Jedi counselor (blocking/absorbing?) the lightsaber with her bare hand was a little over the top though.
For all of you who are saying that this is junk, that it's not Star Wars, or not deep enough...RELAX! The whole point of this trailer was to be epic and action orientated. Besides, look at how Lucas has already butchered the Star Wars universe with the prequels and Clone Wars show. I'd be more concerned with any future ideas he would have for the universe, not with what Bioware is doing with it.
Good to see the trooper class getting some air time..and kicking some ass!
Looks like i posted in the wrong thread, the action is in this one! I'll just rehash what I put on the dead thread.
1) Bioware did not produce any of this or last year's trailer; both trailers were made by an outside company hired by Lucas Arts called Blur Entertainment. The graphics were outstanding and Blur deserves a thumbs up!
2) Could LA & Blur try to recycle some more unoriginal soundtrack? At least come up with something new & original instead of borrowing something played over & over during Episodes I , II and III. Thumbs down on this one!
3) Could Blur & LA possibly mimick the backdrop concepts and action sequences from popular movies they did not create some more? SWTOR trailer utilizes direct takes from Gladiator while the Force Unleashed II trailer blatantly steals from The Matrix Reloaded (think about multiple Agent Smith's scene). Big thumbs down on this one!
4) This game is definitely getting overhyped... (edit: Overhyped beyond all reason & logic)
Are we actually going to see any substantial game footage & information? Or will weekly comic book segments, annual movies and shameless plugs to sell books for X-Mas continue to be the norm?
Very nice trailer. But they're still not saying squat about real gameplay.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." (First Lieutenant Clifton B. Cates, US Marine Corps, Soissons, 19 July 1918)
I guess it did the job though, even in this thread you see people getting hyped about something that has nothing to do with the game they are wanting to play.
Bioware is very good at playing kiddies like violins heh.
It will never fool MMO gamers though.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

I don't understand this type of cynicism. It's money invested not wasted.
Do you think that they'll sell the product to their satisfaction without any marketing? That's all that trailers are, marketing, advertisements to garner more interest in their product thus more profit. There's so much negativity about a simple advert and comments like the above "It will never fool MMO gamers though", it's not intended to fool you, it's intended to get you interested in what they want to sell you and looking into it any further than that makes me want to use the words fools in a different context.
MMO gamers, the most over analyzing self deprivating community on earth

In 13 pages in this thread there have been like 3 or so posts containing a bit "negativity" and the others being a shitload of hype. It's becoming kinda trendy calling the community here as a hater so much so that one cannot dare to say he's opinion without being called depriving and over analyzing.
What he said is true. Is just a trailer, purpose of which is to create hype and have little to do with the game itself. Something you seem to agree too.

I wonder how much one of those Blur Studio0 cinematics costs? They're very good but I bet they're expensive.

They didn`t make it. They paid a Studio called BLUR to do it. Just like the first Trailer which was also made by BLUR.
I hate lightsabers and jedi as much as the next Mos Eisley loving BH wannabe, but that was SICK! Bring on SWTOR!
I believe the term was "Used Future" -- but yeah, I agree. It could be grittier.
