Why must I choose between the fine act of pre-ordering Guild Wars 2, and BOOBS!?
This is sadistic.
Currently playing: No MMOs Played properly: WoW Tried: AoC, WAR, Aion, Darkfall Looking forward to: FFXIV, Earthrise, The Secret World, Guild Wars 2 (very much), Project Copernicus (and Mercury for that matter), Everquest and Planetside Next (finally a meaningful mmofps again) Wants to play in 2 years time if it survives from the subscriptions of fanatics and turns into the game with all features stated on the website: Mortal Online
Only if it has perks, and one of the perks is beta access and/or early start. Problem with preordering (at least online preordering) is that you usually have to wait while the game is shipped, but with betas and head starts, they usually give you a few days for the code to work while you receive the game.
Now, preordering at the store, depends on if I expect the game to be sold out. Don't think this will be the case with GW2.
I admit, I love to pre-order games that capture my imagination. Sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn't, but I've enough disposable income that I can spare a pre-order now and again. So a definite 'yes' to pre-ordering GW2. Haven't been this excited about an upcoming MMO in some time.
Yes. Arenanet has been solid in my xp. While I like(d) GW1, they sound like they read my mind with GW2 - they are doing away with all the things I did not like about 1 - heavy instancing, lack of real 3d landscape (i.e. no jumping climbing)
"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga
Rhetoric aside I will probably be getting GW2 as the gameplay footage so far is intriguing me. However, I am unsure about pre-ordering. The act of pre-ordering tends only to be needed if you want some cool addin or collectible. Its not like in the 90s when if you didn't pre-order you just plain weren't getting the game on launch week. Now you can come in on the weekend and easily pick up a AAA title and probably not make a noticible dent in their stock.
I will most likely be preordering. If it comes with beta access or a cool mini-pet it just makes it all the better
Despite the wonderful things ArenaNet has done we need to remember that it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCSoft and, because of that, it is not in any real way different from NCSoft. Yes, a subsidiary is a legal fiction and, no, for some reason it's not simply a division within NCSoft but support for ArenaNet games comes from NCSoft. Following that, we should not forget what NCSoft did with their last game launch.
I remember pre-ordering AION with my then-girlfriend who pre-orderd the Collector's Edition. She play in the closed beta and loved it so, of course, she talked me into it. At that point neither of us played the open beta, we just watched and waited. Then AION launched, the official forum was not controlled by NCSoft and, apparently, NCSoft decided that it would be best to communicate almost strictly from Twitter and fansites for the next two months. From what I have read at Aionsource.com the game is basically a disappointment, not quite a Fable-esque disappointment but one that isn't altogether far from it. Needless to say, neither she nor I created an account with AION and the boxes still sit in our respective closets.
What I am getting at here is whatever the hype, whatever we see from the game itself, we need to look at how the company putting out the game has handled its most recent launches and see if the game they are touting is really worth paying into at such an early stage. For example, NCSoft may ask ArenaNet to rush production because of strong pre-orders and ostensibly leave the players in a bad position.
I like ArenaNet and I really like what they've done with Guild Wars, I simply don't think that we as players and consumers have a very good reason to trust NCSoft and give them the pre-order numbers to think they can get away with 'underdeveloping' the game because it has such a strong initial draw. That said, my brain may malfunction at some point closer to the release date and I may pre-order it. After all, I'm only human.
(1)TL:DR must be your way of saying that thinking hurts. Then again, this may explain why it looks like you responded to the post without using your brain. (2) It's not about community, is it? You just have nothing better to do.
I will make a preorder even if there are no perks. It's ArenaNet we are talking about here! And Guild Wars is the best MMORPG/CORPG(whatever you feel like calling it) I've ever played together with WoW. Nothing else ,apart from those 2 games, managed to hook me up for more than 1-2 months. They were plain fun unlike most other 'creative and different' MMORPGs which were just not fun. So those two games will be preordered every time anything new comes up because I trust the companies. New companies which I dont know will never a get a preorder from me.
Why must I choose between the fine act of pre-ordering Guild Wars 2, and BOOBS!?
This is sadistic.
look at it this way....there will be boobs in game, properbly not to the extent of age of conan but still...
ow and wont pre order unless there is a very clear reason to, but will most certainly buy it once out, will have to be pure trashcan product for me to not support a no subscribtion/cashshop MMO....even one that are doing something new.

No sub (there will be expansions/ packs) or something that you must buy, besides de game. But is there any company using this system? No. Why? Because they are greedy! ArenaNet give us the best quality, and above all quality of life. They are proud of Guild Wars, not because the milions, but because the quality. And everyone knows they will have great results. Yes i will support this game with a pre-order, because they work with the objective to bring quality, inovation, and it's a company unlike any other.
Will I pre-order? probably. I'm still waiting to see if DC Universe Online will be sub fee or not, but as of now, I think SOE will charge a sub fee for their game.
Whice means, the only company offering a "AAA- List" title without a sub fee is AreaNet/NC Soft with Guild Wars 2 (ok, it might be that Blizzard's 'Diablo 3' has no sub fee, but i'm more excited about GW2).
Thus, if I decide to buy the game, (leaning that way now) I will probably pre-order, it will just depend on which outlet offers the pre-order goodies I want...
i never pre ordered a game, never been a fans of "i am the 1st dude to log into the server!" kinda type
well assuming that Pre Orders are always the 1st one to arrive to the owner before it hits the store
as much as i anticipate for GW2, and as much as i want to play it asap as it is released, i will probably just go the the nearby game store and buy the box peacefully, even if it's 1 week after it hit the store
i know most people want a pre order because it arrives faster and thus they can log into the server faster than anybody else
and have the 1st day advantage, only i never know / figured what a 1 day in-game log advantage will be a huge difference with a player that logs 1 week after?
Im interested in GW2 and SWTOR as well but will preorder neither. Seen too much disappointing crap release in the last few years. Not saying either will be crap but I play the odds and will wait a bit.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
