Nope. Buyers influence all the things.

Such systems are just showing businessmen of all kinds that people can lineup to buy a 25 buck horse. Well, it is quite natural for them to push it as far as it can possibly go.

If you are sound of spirit and will, you will not buy drugs, even if all the streets in your city are lined up with the crooks selling them. 'Cause it is your will that makes the choice. And it is your eye that sees through all the fine marketing language.

Oh man, there are glimpses of whats to come for Lotro, read the DDO forums.... (c) xx19kilosold

Well, I've quit Allods Online (RU ver.) several months ago, so I am well aware of all the risks, both open and hidden. The point is qute simple: it is useless to waste time and server space to describe all the possible Futures of the LOTRO. Those that are aware of the risks that F2P model brings, will be able to clear out when (and if) the situation becomes too ugly for them to stay, without monetary losses.

Those that tend to trust random people too much... may lose (or pay, depending on the "richness" and outlook) considerable sums of money.

Master Yoda is right, on the whole. One should be mindful of the future, yet be concentrated on the "here and now".

Just when I thought lotro going f2p couldnt get any lamer the fails keep rolling in...

Although this limitation is annoying, it's not a deal breaker for me. My first purchase will be another character slot, which will make me a premium user, which will give me another two charater slot. This will give me four characters to play which should be enough for snyone unless your an altaholic

ShastaHawk don't even worry about buying another slot as it's 1 character per server of which there's 11 currently.

I know it's one character per server but I did'nt know the game has 11 servers, thanks for the info,  and they'll prbably be a few more at the ftp launch. I know rhat's what the rumor is

Athough I'm not an altaholic, I like playing with more then one character class and four is a nice round number and that'll be enough slots to keep me entertained for awhile. Keep in mind, I aint going to spend any money on the game right away because that would be stupid. I'll probably play my first character up until level 3 or 5 which should be enough time to decide if I like the class or even the game

To get a feel for a Class you need to get to around 15-16. Level 5 takes around 10-15 mins of  playtime.

You can upgrade to 3 as soon as you buy a single smallest point pack (probably around 5-6$) and go premium...

Why dont they make it free to play, you can play it for free but not much of the game. Are they kidding us??? free to play games usually means everything is free..not just to level 20. Retarded game developers. All games should be B2P.

You are WRONG. P2P only means that there is no subscribtion fee to be paid on a regular term e.g. monthly. There are many games out that do it like this and there are many different variations of what contact they give to players for free and what needs to be paid for.

As said lvl 3 - 5 comes pretty fast although with some classes you just know it's not a right fit, right off the bat.  For the middle of the road one's I'd say give it until you finish the starter (tutorial) area, which takes you up to lvl 10 I think.  By then you should have run around some, did a few good fights and know if it's going to work for you or not.

    Enjoy.

Is it really so hard to make more than one account? Plenty of older games needed you to have multiple accounts for more than one character, so it's something i'm used to, and I actually still do it that way to make transfering crap possible/easier.

It's really not that hard or complicated. If you really have trouble grasping this, just add 2, 3, 4, etc to your account name and use the same password for all..

Crap, I'd forgotten all about that! LOL!  I remember people having to have 5 or 6 accounts per person or family just so you could all play on the same server! Or have a fighter and crafter combo!  Ahhhhh the good ol' days :)

Plus, ever though about character names? This is how they will limit it to free accounts.

    ^^^ this.

This rant is just lame. You can play one char till end game for FREE. Be happy. You know, the sub option is still there. You can sub it and get everything.

Actually that part isn't true. You can only access content for free up to a certain point, then you have to pay to unlock each area's quests. There are many areas of content to go through (ie. be unlocked) before you get to end-game. So... not quite free. Unless you do no additional questing and just grind mobs the entire way.

    That said...

    @OP:

There is still the subscription option, which would work just like a sub does now, as I understand it. So, it's not like other F2P where they *force* it on you. You can circumvent it, pay a flat sub fee, and play the game as you normally would.

Sure .. how about change to:

This rant is just lame. You can play one char for hours and hours of content for FREE. Be happy. You know, the sub option is still there. You can sub it and get everything.
