Just ran the benchmark but couldn't find out what my score was on high. Monitor is 1440x900 so It wouldn't show that part. Unless someone knows how to scroll around on the desktop so I could see it. I'm running a 4850 to be exact. and have 4 gigs of ddr2 800 ram.
a 9800GT = 8800 GT which is a dwarfed version of 8800gtx, which was released ... umm 4 years ago.
it's and old card, just face it. Next : a gt 330 or whatever laptops have right now - it still the same thing as 240gt which is 9800 gt which is 8800gt with slight alterations .
Just get a 5770 or gtx 465, they arn't all that expansive, and they will provide decent framrate in most of the current gen games
to those, who have 5870s in their laptops - update the drivers guys. Don't use the old crap that manufactor ( such as Alienware or any other company ) provides you with -> they're usualy abismal old.
P.S. No trolling intended, I'm just pointing out that if your system can't run the game - don't bitch about it all too much. ( and by the way AION runs on Cryengine 1, which is and old 2004 engine, and aside from good looking char. models, it has nothing to offer - the textures of the environment are low, very low res. )

Tried that but cannot.
From the ATI website:
"The Installation Verification Software will prevent driver download on certain notebook
products. This is to protect against the installing of drivers that may disable features or
functionality provided by the system manufacturer"
This is the problem. The ATI software refuses to install on my laptop.
And the driver modder offered by hardwareheaven does not work either. Not sure if it is because the modder is not up to date with 5870's, or the latest ATI driver version, of if I may be doing it wrong. Should I be modding the desktop version driver or the laptop version driver package? Asked these questions a week ago on their forum. Got over 100 views but not a single answer. But actually Ive tried it both ways (modded laptop driver then tried modding desktop driver) and neither way would install. I even took a chance and installed a modded driver posted on their forum by a user. It also was the same result. The only driver I can get to install is the one supplied by dell/alienware.
Try to contact AMD ( ATI ) support, or the support of your laptop manufactor. And if that won't help, well, also try xtremesystems.org forums, someone there might help.

Tried alienware they said I cant use ATI drivers because it is an oem card. The ATI website says it wont install like I said, and extremesystems.org website isnt up it just says "Under Construction". But Ill keep checking, thanks. Funny that the hardwareheaven forums arent getting any answers. Seems like my questions should be easy answers to anyone at all familiar with their modding software.
Windows XP Professional, Intel Core2 Duo E6750, GeForce 9800 GT.
2970, 12840 ms. Not too bad considering how old my system is.

[Edit: no, after seeing there's an actual video associated with it, I guess not, despite the wierd way GameSpot distributes its content making it looks like the reviewer didn't even write this.]

At work we purchase Dell and HP laptops for our users, and I've had similar issues being stuck with Dell/HP video drivers. When trying to install the intel/ati drivers the install will error out and tell you that you must use the Dell/HP drivers. I did get around this once on one of my intel systems.
1. Download/unzip your ATI driver package. If it is an executable, try running it and pray that it prompts to extract the files instead of jumping straight into an install.
2. Go to your device manager, find your display adapter, right click and select update drivers.
3. Browse out to the folder containing the recently downloaded/unzipped driver. With any luck there will be a .inf file in there that should be visible in the browser. Select it, and it should install the basic driver with no catalyst control center.
If you can't get a driver package with the necessary .inf file you could try other driver versions.
I still can't believe my laptop scored so low, I hope I can run the game on low smoothly at least..... I run AION maxed out and it plays like a champion
//Processor//AMD Phenom II x6 (4.6GHZ)//Video//CrossfireX ATI Radeon HD 5850//Motherboard//ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3//RAM//6GB DDR3 2000mhz Patriot//HDD//Raid 0 7200RPM Seagate 1TB//
I scored a 3186, looks like im good to go this September, only problem is that Civ 5 comes out the same week
I loved the orriginal Civ game... but no other in the series could catch my attention, as the history of the world is just the same every time.
Ever since EQ i can only play MMO's (and some handheld games as passtime)
Yeah I forgot about Civilization V releasing then too, however like many I've grown to enjoy MMOs far more, and most 1p games have taken too the back burner and usually never revisited. I may check it out someday but FFXIV is definitely top priority!
Failed with old computer so bought a new one for ffxiv... Way over minimum requirements... intel core i7, geforce gt 330 (1g memory), 4g of ram and it managed to fail too with 1200 score... guess i'll have to get a ps3 cause I cant afford another computer...
then again, I get the lowest score for "the last remnant" benchmark and can play it with highest options with absolutely no problems... I really don't know XD
Yeah that computer sounds fine, but I scored hella low with my laptop a mear 1800 so whateva.... maybe the benchmark is not exactly the most accurate tool, but it does say OFFICIAL BENCHMARK lol... So I guess I Offcially Suck!

I score 4700->4800 on low res depending on race and time of day when i run the benchmark.
I score 2700->2800 on high res.
As i understand the benchmark the score table is on low res and is designed for future pc rig specs, so as long u can get minimum 2500 u can run the game but may get a lil lag.
Remember benchmark is running in windowed mode so might score higher when you run the game in full mode.

I used a HDMI cable to connect my PC to my HDTV. Which is 1920x1080 . It automatically changed the resolution once i unpluged my vga cable from my pc.

Here's the forum. Try there, they helped me a LOT in the past with my rig ( a long time ago though, but still).
