Earthrise = EvE but on land?

From what I seen on the faq skill based can learn off line and pvp is huge and the crafting seems kinda eve like.

So is this what I been waiting on a game that is like EvE but on land?

    There's a difference...

In Earthrise, the NPC-factions are far more integrated into the whole system.

So you do missions directly for the NPC-factions for example and loose standings towards the opposing ones. So you won't be able to play for all factions at the same time, like you can do it in EvE.
NPC-guards will attack you, if you've negative standings, but the good thing is, that the NPC-guards aren't like CONCORD, but more like the usual NPCs in EvE, so you'll be able to fight them to a degree, if you entered their territory.

Another difference is, that killing other players won't result in a security-status-loss, but only a loss towards the factions, so you can for example only kill players of one faction, and remain high standings with your chosen faction etc...

    It's basically EvE in factional-warfare-style.

No, Perpetuum is EVE on the ground.  They copied pretty much everything from EVE from the skill system, modules, right down to the UI style, layout, and widgets.

Anarchy Online + EVE Online + Tabula Rasa = Earthrise.

The style and aiming look similar to TR, The depth of features, item system similar to AO and certain features like territorial control, insurance and offline money making profession systems like EVE.

    Looks really awesome tbh.

If you do missions on one faction too much, you will become enemy to the opposing factions on EVE. Yes, that Caldari police will attack you if go negative with Caldari State, doesn't matter if you're in FW or not. Its an independent system from CONCORD. You can run, tank or destroy the enemy faction ships.

Although, I do get your point, NPC's on EVE were never thought to be an integral part of the system. I just wanted to state the fact about EVE's mission system.

I've been keeping an eye on this game by not keeping an eye on it on purpose, if you know what I mean. Everytime I hear something about it, it just keeps getting better and better. Fear of self-over-hype is very real. Less I know about, the better.

Its creepy to find myself on Earthrise forums posting this after typing the last sentence.

You don't loose standings in EvE, if you run only the usual missions for your agents. Faction-standing is only lost or gained by doing the "important storyline missions".
In Earthrise every missions counts for your standings tho, and also PvP counts towards your standings. You can raise your standings either by just killing opposing faction-players and thee was even talking about PvP-quests/missions.
So yeah, from my POV it looks much more like factional warfare intead of the usual mission-grinding.

Nevertheless, the game looks good on paper, but we haven't seen any hard evidence so far and the official forums go rampage at the moment, because there's a huge lack of information. It's hard to belief, that the game will be released this year, and next year there's several other titles coming out, so we'll see where this goes.

If you want to play EVE on land try Perpetuum; the game is a verbatim ripoff of EVE with very few exceptions.  Even it's UI is virtually indistinguishable from EVE's.  The only difference I can recall is that in Perpetuum you gain skill points in real time and purchase skills with them rather than train a skill for X amount of time.

Just to clear it up. I do play eve quite a bit. Yes, you do lose and gain standings with the important missions. But you can lose and gain some standings on regular missions as well. If you fight the pirate npcs in a mission and blow them up, then you lose standings with them. The same goes for if you fight one of the main factions as well. By blowing up the ships, you lose standings with them. The important storyline missions give you a big standing boost with the faction you are running them for.

But, in eve, when you destroy an npc or a structure from another faction (main factions or pirate factions), you will take a security hit with them.

This mmo really sounds quite interesting. It would be awesome if they would take this world and move it to space in the far future. Eve is trying to move to planets to make a full universe, but they are seeming to screw that up. So, this game really is catching my eye. Can't wait to get closed beta news.

yea thats what you get from fanboys, they probably told you that Perpeteum is nothing like EVE besides one or two similarities.

Eh yeah if you run missions military missions for caladari you'll most likley lose standing for Gallente.. jus like if you run for minmitar you can lose standing against amarr.. but since you earn more standings then you lose it's possible to go and play all NPC factions at once.. I seen only one player with 5 in all factions

that's close but not 100% true.

for example, if you're running martari missions and get "go kill angel cartel" your standings with matari enemies (amarr, caldari) will not fall.  however if that same matari agent gives you "go kill amarr navy" mission then yes, from killing the amarr navy NPCS you will lose amarr faction.

in other news i'm looking forward to ER as well :)

I started watching this game a really long time ago, and it sounded promising back then. After the gameplay movies were released though I stopped. I know those were pre pre alpha and whatnot, but the more I think about a open world third person PvP intense mmo, the less I want to play it. There has to be a reason no one has done one with any success. So far this is sounding like a space type Fallen Earth with more focus on hotkey skills.

On a side note, hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see one actualy come through for both shooter, and RPG fans. Tough crowd that.
