Hehe something similar was added to FFXI a while back if I'm thinking along the right lines. Seems they're still experimenting with some systems there then.
Actually.. there's something else new too. It was added to XI at the same time as Fields of Valor was... and that's as much as I'll tell ya .
Your teasing just had me running through the version update history... and I think I know what you're referring to. :P

DOES IT START WITH A M?
When I wrote this I was thinking "mentoring" then I remembered this isn't eq2 and ffxi called it level syncing or something.
"Please deliver this letter to the other side of the city!"
"Congratulations, you did it! Here, have 40% of the exp for your next level, 500 gold and a sword of mightiness!"
WoW has a quest chain in Darkshire has you run back and forth between 2 or 3 NPCs, all standing within 50' of each other. In one part of the quest chain, you have to take a letter from one NPC standing at the bottom of a staircase. You run up the stairs and give the letter to another NPC who happens to be standing right inside the door. It takes about 10 seconds to complete the task - that is, run up the stairs, talk to the NPC, complete the quest and get your reward. Your reward is something like 1500 xp. And that's just for *that part*. Every other part of the quest has you just running around Darkshire talking to NPCs, and each part gives you several hundred xp at least.
When I completed that part of the quest, I said "give me a break", out loud.
... then people can't understand and/or get indignant when someone says WoW pampers its players.
Now granted... FFXI can tend to go to completely the other extreme... "Crying Over Onions", which is part of the Star Onion Brigade quests in Windurst is one such example. Quest is *far* too involved and sends you far too much out of the way for what the quest rewards.

I think it the case that XIV will feature more involved PvE than you find in WoW. I have played WoW and if you read the quests some of the PvE story arcs look incomplete or don't make sense. Maybe they will address that in Cataclysm?

marks hunts: basicly you see board in the bar with several (wanted posters) for strong monsters
you accept and go talk to the npc who posted it who will give you hints where to find it
as you progress the monsters get tougher and the hints more vague
also some got requirments to spawn like all female party or certain weather which hinted by the npc too
it was fun trying to figure it out for the higher tier hunts but for some i had to resort to the internet
if we got similer system in 14 i hope the NMs will be like the guildeve mobs only claimable by ppl who got the quest
my punches are as strong as kicks

T.
It's more of a nice bonus when adventuring more than anything!
Actually, multiple things like that have been implemented. Not just T, but also F and G.
GL figuring that out
Yep sounds like I guessed right, hehe. ;P
