I guess the question remains... why should FFXIV follow other mmo's that came after wow if practically ever one of them was less successful than FFXI?
not about following other mmos foot steps. just following the basics. walk. run. sit. jump. swim. your character got legs that bends, and not a low budget cartoon that slides around with a stiff legs.
this game gaves us human-like features, so its ok for everyone to expect a human like movents. walk. run. sit. jump. swim. you have lakes or some type of waters that are in game, that adds a bit of immersion if you can interact with it.
oh thats a nice lake, too bad i can't swim in it.. its just there for looks and when i walk near it I run into some invisible walls or if not I just simply walk all the way down and drown.
I love when the devs come up with a lore reason why the character can't use something....its cute.
Okay honestly, what is the point of having jumping, sitting, and swimming. Have you ever been able to do that in any other FF game? No. No you haven't, so why would it change all the sudden. And what do you really need to swim for, what do you really need to jump for? How often in a day do you jump? I can bet for many of you guys that would be zero times a day. Now sitting I will give you, I bet a lot of the people on this website do that all day. If they gave you swimming, what would it do. And agreed with a previous poster, if they gave you jumping all people would do is bunny hop. Final Fantasy is more of a serious game, if you had a city full of bunnies would that really feel like Final Fantasy? Probably not. SE chooses to focus on things that are important to the game rather than useless details that deviate from the original IP.
