Aion: Reactivation Weekend

NCSoft and Aion developers are inviting former players to come back to the game for a free weekend of play. The Reactivation Weekend begins on Friday, July 30th and runs through Monday, August 2nd. During the weekend, players will be able to take advantage of double XP as well.

Tell your friends, family, and former Legion mates about the upcoming “Double Your Fun” reactivation weekend! All inactive Aion accounts will be reactivated to coincide with this weekend’s incoming Double XP goodness.
During this weekend of double fun, you can enjoy playing with friends you haven't seen for aeons and level up twice as fast as usual!

yeah i will be passing this up. I already saw what I needed to see when I played past lvl 33+. this game holds no more interest for me. shame too could of been a interesting game had it not been for the multitude of issues it has presently. i say let the bots have what is left of the game.

pretty much. its been reduced here and there, but its still a massive timesink compared to other MMO's. typical of NCsoft Korean Style grinders e.g. lineage 1&2 etc.

Aion had a lot of potential, but the absurd grind, one-shot wonders and lagging swarms of players during world PvP events ruined it for me.
Getting PvP gear through PvE grinding and having a chance to fail your crafting after doing hours and hours of grinding didn't help either.

Be nice if they would lift all the unjust banns they put over peoples aions accounts aswell. Banning people because they have too much kinah is not a just banning.
I take it they banned you aswell? I will never play another NCsoft game, I am very reluctant to play GW2 , but since there is no sub fee I guess I may cave in just for that game.
I dunno but if your going to invite back old players at least give them a meaningful amount of time, 3 days, is a joke. I just received a 2 weeks offer to go back to Fallen Earth, at least in 2 weeks you can see what changes, in 3 days ?
I'm not gonna re-install that game from scratch and dowload several Gigs of patches just for 3 days.
No matter how hard they try to get players who dislike the grind back, they will fail. It's just not fun killing the same things for hours on end to get just a few levels. Plus the reinstalling SUCKS.. it'll take you more days to reinstall than you can actually play. Freakin NCSoft Laucher is gimp.
Bingo. I don't plan to reinstall this just to get bored walking around that horrible first city with limited flying just to be told to run here and there mindlessly killing so many mobs or so with horrible cutscenes that last 5 seconds as my reward.
The grind is one thing, but what really set me off was how bad the rampant bot issue destroyed the economy.
I could barely make enough money to buy a crappy green weapon when it was time to upgrade. Nevermind skills you need, stigmas, or any other gear. If you don't bot/buy money you're gonna have to make due with crappy stuff.
Things costing 7-10mil... Everything halfway decent is at least a million or two. Air combat is a joke. The lag is sitll rampant (You know you're being ganked when you start lagging).
Oh man and the lack of mounting... If you're going somewhere uphill (which is about 50% of the time), you can't glide anywhere so you just run. Run everywhere. If you're in the abyss you can fly for a little, then sit down for like 15 minutes to let your flight timer refill that runs out in 90 seconds.
This game had potential but they didn't adapt it for western enough.
I'm not one to run to the defense of NCSoft, but it takes about two hours to install and patch Aion.
I don't understand why they're doing this now. You'd think this would be something they'd offer shortly after their free expansion comes out. The game is pretty much the same as it was at release. No new content to experience. I guess people are supposed to be impressed with repeatable quests, unbearable lag, and terrible faction balance? Shrugs, I'll log on this weekend to say hello to old friends, but I have no intentions of actually playing.

NCsoft only hosts the game arena net does all the policing and such same as GW Proph etc. I wouldn't worry about that one.
Could it be that the end game just comes sooner then some mmos. I mean I played the first free month, and everything about the game I liked. The scenes were beautiful and enspiring, the music fit into alot of the scenery, and there was just a nice feeling playing it.

Sad too cause im a big fan of GW and now I laugh at the idea of GW2 getting the hype it is.
Not sure I understand your post. Are you saying that endgame is faster to reach in Aion then other MMOs? If so, I have to disagree emphatically. I think the game makes it take too long to get to the endgame, hence the complaints about grind. Part of that, for me at least, is how boring combat is and lack of travel options other than walking, gliding or using flightpaths.
Im sorry to hear this, that does indeed not settle well. If your planning on playing GW2 though you will have to resolve it some how.
Just for the record they blocked a lot of accounts as a security measure. When I resubbed last month my account was perma blocked. I called and got it unblocked in about 5 minutes. Was your login name the same as one of your characters? That's most likely why.
We should form a group of people to de-hype all NCfail games to be honest. Make sure everything they put out fails. And as they sit there wondering why they have no subsribers we will send them all emails saying " we are sorry but your games have been banned by the consumer, for more information contact www.whogivesaf$ck.com "
How very mature of you. Because you know, just not buying their product is too plain and boring for a sophisticated gentleman such as yourself.
Besides, you should be pointing that angst at NCkorea, who seem to see the NA market as the place to port their MMOs to make a quick buck off release sales with no intent on actually supporting the game there.
NCWest can't even enter their own server's databases without getting approval from grand emperor Korea.
Ouch! Not even a year old and its already had merges and now free welcome back weekends. Its sad ... but yet I somehow feel glad its happening. Since beta people have warned and pleaded with NCSoft through countless great sggestions to make the game a success and realize the awesome potential the game had yet NCSoft chose to ignore it. Even a year later you have barely begun to scratch the surface of what is needed. I do not pitty you NCSoft, and hope they go out of business with their name is forever remembered as one of the worst MMO companies in history.
I'd pop in for a reactivation but there I feel there is nothing fun for me to do, neither pve or pvp-wise. And I don't feel like logging in and failing some more on the alchemy just for the sake of it...
