I will not fall for Bobby Kotick's $60 ripoff factory. Maybe if it had all 3 campaigns in one box for $60... but this? nope. Greedy companies like that tempt me to don a pirate hat.
I have been gaming since Pong. I am an old bastard. Back in the day, I really enjoyed the original Command and Conquer and C&C Red Alert. The present problem is that the same games are just being made over and over again, except with updated graphics.
Back in the day you had truly groundbreaking things being done. Companies would try to develop completely innovative games from the ground up. Now, much like how Hollywood constantly remakes movies, everyone is suddenly incapable of making something completely fresh.
SC2 is cool and all but I've already played it many, many times. I am not saying it won't be a good game. On the contrary, if SC2 was the first game of this type I'd ever played, I'd be sporting ivory over it!
Want to know why? Because back then a video game was innovative. Pacman was innovative. You didn't need much imagination back then to do something new since there wasn't much out there. Now that there are lots of games going in different directions, it is harder to be innovative since there are tons of games out there.
I was, until I saw the price of the reg edition. I'll wait till the price drops then maybe pick it up. Also breaking it up into 3 seperate parts has pissed alot of people off. yet they will probably set high sales for it even though they are giving only 1/3 of a game.
I was never interested in the 1st one, the 2nd doesn't appeal to me either, yet I do enjoy playing RTS games as I have played all of the C&C titles, it's just that the Starcraft games just never did it for me, more like Meh than Hey.

Same here, I never did get into RTS, but I too am glad that some Gamers have gotten what they have waited for. Hope it turns out excellent.

Not right now, going to wait for the Battlechest version with all 3 releases in one bundle.
Honestly I don't think you will see one of those for a very, very long time.
The seperate race versions of SC2 are each the size of a normal Rts.
The terran campaign is damn near 30 missions with tons of replay value.
Its not like the zerg and protoss games will simply be addons or expansion packs that will retail for a 29.99 (average xpac price).
There is no reason to wait, if there is a battlechest you could damn well believe its going to be well over a hundred bones.
Don't believe the haters, the terran game is a FULL rts experience. You would be mistaken if you think blizzard only gave you one third of SC2. That would be similar to thinking Mass Effect 1 is 1/3 of the real game because theres a part 2 and soon a 3.
I do miss the world game before Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, etc.... I do miss X-Com UFO, Civilization, Master of Magic, Populous, Transport Tycoon, Syndicate, and all those non-simplistic games that were out after Blizzard found the key to sell gazzilions (unfortunatelly the same key locked the door to games like those that I appointed). Not blaming Blizzard of dumbing down the game scene, after all its the consumer fault, the Blizzard was exceptionaly good in doing what they do, polished, cute and simple games.... It should be a niche... Not the rule...

Aren't X-com and Civilzations still around?
Honestly I never saw Diablo and old WC Rts as dumbed down. The very first diablo was a wonderful experience (with great multiplayer and a memorable experience) and I played WCII damn near forver in highschool.
Can you explain how SC is simple? it has one of the most hardcore multiplayer communities around (imo just as hardcore as the old CS community). A new player needs to play for a damn year to even compete with those players.
I can understand the dumbed down argument with a game like WoW and I can even understand the copcat, unoriginal argument when it comes to WC,SC and diablo but in no way were these games dumbed down.
The games you listed as missing before Blizzard released highly popular and polished materpieces are totally different types of games. world building, economy and space sims. Because blizzard didnt release a version of X-com or populous doesn't mean their games are dumbed down.
Not a big RTS fan so no. I prefer turn based strategy games.
Civ 5 and Elemental - Those are the two I'm waiting for.
SC2 is huge though. My guild in AoC has been hit hard after release. Normally there are around 50ish people on at peak times. This week it's been 12-13!

Not buying due to no cross-realm support. Most of my RTS friends are in Asia or the US.

not buying anything from blizz anymore
I was going to, but that was before they stripped out LAN, and divided the game into 3 seperate parts.
Lost another customer, but gained another pirate.

thought about it, but will pass. Good to see all the hardcore SC fans get their game finally.

Not buying it, but only because the laptop I've got can't handle it
I left my gaming rig at my parent's house, so I may have to swing by there and pick it up soon.
I can run SC2 on my five year old work laptop.
It uses a single core 2.6 gig processor, 2 gigs of ram, 256 agp graphics card and windows xp.
It can run single player on medium without a hitch and multiplayer on Low lol.
Thats crazy.
I read SC2 works worse on quad core PCs. funny how blizzard gets thier games to run on toasters.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Of course I'm not buying SC2! I already have one copy of C&C, why would I want another?
Current MMO: None
Previous MMOs: WoW, Guild Wars, SWG, EQ2, LotrO, Vanguard, Matrix Online, AoC, Ultima Online, Fallen Earth, D&D Online, Champions Online, Aion, Rift.

Oops I bought it.
Enjoy!

I bought it, but I am kinda disappoint about the game. (Now I finally notice I'm more of a DOW2 type)
However, maybe I haven't dig deep enough. But so far I do prefer Warcraft 3 more than Starcraft 2.
League of Legends is keeping me so busy now as well !! Great game !!
