But on the sequel thing i always wondered why they just didnt call it Final Fantasy online instead of  putting it in the numbered series. it has about as much to do with the numbered series as Tactics  or Cronicals series

Or any of the games in the numbered series for that matter.

None of the numbered series' have anything to do with eachother either though.

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.

This goes for any game, not just FFXIV.  There needs to be an open beta, or a pre-order beta that lets you try the game before you buy it.  I like the pre-order concept that a few companies have been doing because then you're guaranteed a spot to play instead of just hoping you get chosen, and the company gets a few bucks to cover expenses from the pre-order.

Hands-on is the only way you'll know if you like the game or not.

I'm hoping for "far, far sooner than their 30 free days"...

I will start playing on the 22nd. If I have fun, I will continue to play, if not, I will unsub, go back to bouncing between VG, EQ2 and AoC and wait for GW2.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Will not play if the story line has nothing to do with any of the previous games in the FF franchise.

Hopefully you're being sarcastic as XIV is not a sequal and it'll have nothing to do with any other FF title...its entirely new.

Even the lore states that the races of Vana'dial sailed across to Eorzea during an age of exploration. This is a sequel bu all means.

I have the expection of this game to be like all the horrible movies coming out in the near future!  3D!  Yes I want to be dodging a Migo'te tail the ENTIRE time I am playing, I want to have to duck out of the way of poorly aimed spells by Lalafells.  These are my demands!  /end sarcasm

    END OF LINE_

Uh yeah, quote with source please, no where does it say in the FFXIV lore that they boarded a ship and sailed from the world of Vana'diel to the world of Hydaelyn.  I'm pretty sure they don't have a Lunar Whale in Vana'diel.  That technology doesn't exist in FFXI Lore and the most we know about so far in FFXIV Lore concerning the Garlean Empire suggests a form of a magical~middle ages aura!

At most is clearly says the 6 known nations of Aldenard were split and at war with each other until the Garlean Empire appeared and revealed their power which scared all the nations into an uneasy alliance by utterly destroying the strongest nation of the six; Ala Mihgo.  Then "adventureing guilds" were born to quell the mercenaries that had lost their purpose to the organized armies of each nation.  At most; what is suggested at, who we "the players" on the boat are, is that we hail from another continent or region in Eorzea not yet revealed seeking riches and the call to adventure in this new alliance.

None of the numbered series' have anything to do with eachother either though.

Not really true they were all single layer story driven RPGs based around 1 or 2 characters and the group they traveled with.  they usually revolved around one big event that grew threw the story and had the basic story elements of a beginning middle and end  ( something most mmos really dont do by nature  , yes i do know they have some sort of a end game in most mmos) but basically even though the stories were different most of the numbered series had the same bare bones world ending story set up  that changed the direction of that planet ( the worlds  final fantasy)

These are not single player there online MMOs there more group and quest driven than story driven, groups can and will change just do to game dynamics ( as it should in a mmo) where is they are set to a point in the numbered series ( as a RPG itshould be. The story can be interchangable in a mmo depending on how someone plays as for a rpg its usually set

i know some of the other ( like tactics ) may share some of those  how the style of how they all were put togheter were always the same in the numbered series. 11 and 14 being mmos just have a different style..which is fine

Plus it would just be all around easier for sony to keep track with ffo 1, 2 , 3 weither than trying to lock it in the number series ( which they probably done for extra sales purpose. Plus it just leaves them more flexability with what they can do without rabid fanboys getting angry with what they do

also all the numbered series did have in common the names wedge biggs and cid

I challenged my reflection to a staring contest....4 days later i won
