Maybe I am a masochist, but hearing about how "unintuitive" or "difficult" FFXIV is makes me smile. Especially the gripe about having to remember the crafting recipes. I remember the days when we had to make our own maps on graph paper, and you know what? I loved it. Stuff like that gets you involved in a real-world kind of way, and has the added benefit of weeding out the kiddies that just can't be bothered by having to actually put some effort into it. Sure, they will lose some subscribers because it's "too hard", but in the end, it will be a FAR more rewarding game. I look forward to playing.

I would of expected a 'good' tester as you claim, would of came across the auction house in beta. It is only a huge section in the only city available in beta.
It's there buddy, sorry that you didn't check your facts before posting.
The difference is that you deal in what ifs and what might be. I deal in what is. There is no npc to talk to. there is no Ui element. All there is is a sign over a door that would make you assume that an AH is coming. There is no Ah today.
Regardless I cant change your mind and all I can say again is.. Currently today in beta from this build.. the game is the way i posted .
While I have no doubt that the content will be put into the game (assuming it is done and ready to be put in), not testing it now does mean there's a higher likelihood of it being broken or having numerous bugs. A healthy amount of skepticism isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you don't go too far and claim the game is going to fail or that the content doesn't exist at all.
Eh, the game does not need an AH right away.
What it needs is a proper search feature for the Marketplace, though. Also better options for the Retainer to buy things when you're offline.
It is obvious that SE does not need feedback from the AH feature, they already know it works. The same can't be said about the Marketplace, which is why we're testing it.

So then there will be only one starting city? One region to quest in since that is all that is in the beta at the moment? Just following your way of thinking here.

what is it 30 days from ce launch? 37 from regular launch? again i am hopeful and a fan but also realistic. the launch of the game probably not going to meet expectations. i do hope that they handle post launch well unlike alot of past mmos. thats why i am waiting until probably day 30 of launch to buy the game so i can see what direction they are headed with things.
You know... if you really don't want to play the beta anymore because it bugs you, I'd be more than happy to play FOR you?

Am I wrong or not but this is still beta we are talking about ? The game is not out yet so why shouldnt people have a lil faith in SE? It is not like they havent made a game before let alone an MMORPG. You are right its not about over looking the defects but the fact is it's STILL BETA. Look when the game comes out we can see the results. I have this burning question Are you even gonna play this game when its released? Because if the answers no please gtfo and off this forum you have voiced your complaints now please move on.

We're 5 weeks from CE launch, 6 weeks from regular launch.
bhronn, go troll somewhere else, you've done far than enough in these forums, move to another game if you HATE it that much, nobody cares.
I am not reading the OP's post as a flame or one large complaint. I am reading it as a "current state of the game" which of course will change as the beta continues and we move closer to release. I don't know why so many people are being rude, hostile and just rabid in their fanboism against this person. I love the orange reply as it addressed certain issues as bugs, talked about known features being left out of the game, and there remains a few questions. I really think the FFXI crowd needs to calm down and stop attacking people for pointing out bugs that are in the beta. Yes, beta has bugs, but you're dreaming if you think this will be a bugless release. The question is when and if they will fix some of these issues before release and which ones are in fact bugs or working as intended.

He's not exactly trolling. While I haven't really read more than his first post (and commented on it -- both agreeing and disagree in some respects), he's offering his insight into beta.
People do just need to understand its a beta and understand what SE is trying to accomplish with the beta. There are many things they are testing out right now with stability, which is where most of the bugs spawn from. Not going to go into it because, frankly, I just don't feel like typing anymore.

Maybe so, but I judge posts by the post's merits, not some obsession to track what the poster has been up to. This is not a trolling post. It's simply a list of issues, several of which have been confirmed, and only a couple of which might be in question. There isn't even an overall opinion of the game in this post so much as some opinions based on specific issues. This is the kind of posts that we should see coming out of NDA lifted beta testers, most of which we hope will come back later saying fixed!

I have seen MMOs actually make huge strides in the last five weeks of beta. Sometimes a beta build is intentionally not optimal so they can collect performance metrics on various aspects of the client. Sometimes, a beta build will be using older sub-modules than what they are running internally, as they squash bugs on the newer work and get it ready for integration into the public client. Sometimes, developers will intentionally gate content and features during beta, so the full retail experience is fresh; cutting down the client can often cause unforseen issues (which is why limited trial clients often take months to properly develop).
Of course, I have also seen MMO betas where things were a mess in the final stages of beta and it turned out there was no super optimized, feature complete retail client waiting in the wings.
We know SE has the money and the talent. I also tend to doubt that they would have set a release date if they weren't very confident they could make it with a truly release ready result.
It is possible, or even likely, that the game will launch in a polished state, inspite of some of the very obvious flaws in the current beta client. However, we won't really know until the game does launch!
With the staggered release dates for the CE and Standard Editions, people on the fence will have a week to see how things fare for the CE crowd, before having to decide to buy/wait/pass. On Sept. 22nd, there will be no beta excuses left for the game and I'm positive the experiences of CE players will be all over the place during that first week.

This is what they're doing. Uncapping FPS (when it will be capped for retail) is one example.
I didn't say what he said wasn't true. What I am saying is that if you quit a game and keep comming back (no matter how well you hide it) to bash it while saying I am only providing the facts then your in a troll. If he canceled hs order his is not going to play so him being here makes no sense. You say you are not trying to persuade anyone then you make a post that solely point out percieved flaws (which may just be gameplay mechanics the OP didnt like ) and actual flaws without any other additional information. You then proceed to say every1 is attacking you when you know for fact a post of this nature can only cause a flame. Further more you voiced your dislike for the game (WHEN HE CANCELED HIS ORDER) and then claim to be impartial. Either he is too dumb to know that once you say I quit its time to move on or HE IS TROLLING!
He most probably didn't cancel his order and just fibbed about it while he was ragging.
Even tho i no longer have a CE ordered, i am still in the beta. When i signed up for the beta I agreed to test it till the beta was done. I continue to test it and feedback daily. Me not having my CE on order any more based on my experience, has no berring on my threads. i have stated how the beta is currently . Im not making any opinions on what might happen or what SE's plans are. NOBODY knows those plans. Not even some of the people here. They can suspect and analize but they dont know for sure. that was my argument with the AH but people just continue anyways.
Unlike some posters here, im giving you the facts. not my predictions or opinions. You dont see me throwing names around and acting poorly.

The whole "When I signed up for the beta..." line just sounds like an excuse, you're obviously not going to waste your time on playing a game you have declared that you dont enjoy, unless you're a masochist... wich if you are, then fine that makes sense I guess.
I'm a FFXIV fanboi so I dont like your "facts" sir... >.>... though I think I will find most of the things you found annoying, not annoying at all tbh, I also think most bugs and such will be fixed before or shortly after launch.

To you it might be a line. There are a few people in this world that.. dare i say it.. keeps their word when they give it. that kind of attitude is foreign to most people these days. its called .. integrity.
Like I said before I never said you lied. I think you are smart and that has nothing to do with a troll so I think you will understand this at least I am hoping. You gave us information that biased you whther you think it did or not. Once you said you canceled your CE based on your experience you told us how you felt abotu the game (It is not worth buying) the same as if you said you were still buying it (It is worth buying). Basically you biased yourself with information we did not ask for further more you post have a decidedly negatve. Even if all you said are fact are they all the fact is it the whole story and obviously it is not. Other have played the game and given direct information without leaning much to one side or the other. He tells you about the class how it plays and how things are going in beta whether it be good or bad and that about it. No this is the good and this is the bad just what is. There is no need to post here if you are nto going to play in 2 months time no one can trust what you say is impartail because you have shown yourself to be partail so let it go. There are many other sorces of information that simply put do a better job than you at giving information about the game. Furthermore I am sure you knew (Since you were already on the forum) that this thread would flame. And since you knew that and posted anyways (after admiting that you canceled your order) you trolled even though its not a typical one. Does it get any clearer?
