One thing that's great about FF games is there is not a "worldwide" chat for morons to invade.

You have to be pretty local near people to get some of the rantings like "You got no pancake mix, Chuck Norris!" or "I PWN YOOZZ NUBB LOLHAHAH!" and constant sex-talk that is rampant in just about every other MMO out today.

If you find a few people doing it, you can easily /block or just move yourself to a new location and you're done. In other games, you fill your /Block list in a week because you are getting knuckleheads shouting from their alt toons way over in Noobville because they got bored on their mains so they went a-trolling.

You have no recourse except to turn off the whole regional channel in these games, which infringes on your enjoyment and ability to actually see important messages from other responsible players and interact with them.

When you are doing some questing way out in the boonies with your guild/group in FF, you never have to worry about seeing some bored 13 yr olds whining about "How come there's no PvP in this game???" and comparing it to Mortal Online, TERA or some other game they are waiting for.

In total there is about two months playable content in WoW. I think at one stage it's developers wanted to have complex and intricate raid dungeons that interlinked with quest content, but AQ was a turn-off for the games players so it went in a different direction. As it is if you wanted to get the most out of Blizzards Cataclysm expansion and played from 1+ then in total you are talking 2 months game in total. After that go cancel your sub and head to a new game.

It also has a distinct Final Fantasy feel, in particular the old games of the genre.  Even more so I'd compare the theme/setting original Final Fantasy Tactics as well as the job changing system (though FFXIV's is even more unique).

You sold me at "Unforgiving, group-oriented, hefty learning curve, time consuming, but very rewarding"  and  "Final fantasy tactics,"
