ArenaNet and the Guild Wars 2 team have been awarded the "Best Online Game" award at this year's GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. The team has been on hand showing off a demo of the game, talking with fans and reporters about the unique nature of Guild Wars 2 and much more.
Those ArenaNet staffers who aren’t in Cologne are still playing a vital role at gamescom; our entire studio here in the Seattle area has been playing the game remotely with show attendees all week. We’ve been having a blast meeting and playing alongside our European fans in-game – it’s been like one big international LAN party!
We’re bringing the hands-on Guild Wars 2 demo to the States in two weeks at PAX in Seattle (Sept 3-5), and we’d love to see you there. Even if you can’t play the demo, keep an eye on this blog for more Guild Wars 2 news and information.

Well deserved...GW2 demo screams quality so high that is hard to ignore.
Well deserved. Cant wait for the release !
I saw many of the demos and Friday's live stream demo. Just amazing! The other nominees, also worth mentioning for this category are SW:TOR and WoW Cata.
From that same blog: "....... This is our opportunity to demonstrate that all of the features we’ve been talking about for the past few months are real, not just hype...."
Playing now: Cities: Skyline / Ori and the Blind Forest / Banished
wow killer ^_^
I believe this thread is only about GW2, not those "other" IP's...
GW2 FTW!
This game is looking so amazing at this point , I believe it has what it takes to KILL WoW.

Gratz GW2, you entered the prestigious company of WAR and Aion!
Heheh, that is funny and sadly true.
GW2 looks solid though and with the no sub model it will be a hit like the first one.
Well deserved...
In my opinion... GW2 > SWTOR in this event (gamescom).
Well deserved GW2! Cant wait to see more of the game world and the full class list!
Anet is not a company or Developer..They are magicians from another universe. here to show people how to make a MMO...
GW2 FTW
hehehe,hahahahaHAHAHAHA
laughing Hyena, get used to it -_-
Aion deserved that reward too, 15 minutes of gameplay couldn't tell you the bad parts of the game. WAR should not have gotten the reward at all, they should have seen the warnings.
It is true that we still have no idea how fun GW2 will be in the long run, but Aions problem is the long grind and it seems like GW2 wont have that problem.
Aion was however a large success in Asia, it was made there for Asian players. GW2 is the opposite and it seems to me that it most likely will be big in NA/US and flop in Asia instead. We just don't like the same type of gameplay.
Its f2p. It wont "Kill" any mmo simply because you can play it on the side of a p2p MMO.
Wasn't impressed by GW2 at all to be honest. Was looking forward to seeing the gameplay but didn't exactly leap out at me.
Well put Loke.
The long grind was NOT that bad....
Aion is one of the best damn games on the market right now. It's a shame they swing their ban hammer around so recklessly they may have more subs here in the US.

Grats to ArenaNet for doing a fantstic job. Now how about that release date, lets goooooo !
Nice to see someone doing some innovation and not making another Wow clone. So far the game looks fantastic, hope it plays that way.
So far it seems everyone is reacting to graphics and animation, and not to game mechanics. Other than appearance, a higher level cap and a new story, I'm not seeing anything that indicates this is a substantial improvement over Guild Wars 1. It's still a CCG in RPG clothing.
REad a bit more/ at all.
