did you miss the last 4 months or something? There are loads of superior products out on the market run by people who won't triple bill you give you a lameo patch every 4 weeks just to correct a typo. Try out Saga of Ryzom, World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Ultima Online, heck any other game on this site apart from this pile of dodo's droppings.
i tried Saga of Ryzom, EQ2, And EQ i liked EQ i guess the best out of the three I don't like the races of WoW, and i'm still trying out some of the others
Artifact wasn't the one who triple billed, that was their contracted moneyhandler, Ibill. AE dropped Ibill over the double and triple billing, and went to a much more reputable company, I-Pay.
I've just recently started playing Horizons; & I'm glad I waited so long before trying it out. There's new energy on the Dev team & in CS, & a lot of the former issues that almost brought the Game to a halt have been, or are in the process of being addressed.
It's got everything I'm looking for in terms of Game content, & the Community is awesome. I'm a longtime subscriber to other long-running, successful, Titles- & I know what I like.
There was a time when Horizons earned much of the criticism it got. But lately, there's been some great new blood behind the scenes. And the Player Community is among the Best anywhere. I'm now a paying subscriber, & I hope to be for some time to come.
When I read current negative posts against it, I wonder if those posters have really given it a fair trial, recently. Because much has changed, for the better; & a lot of what they write seems to be taken from other - much older - posts.
Horizons, in my opinion, is definitely worth taking a new look at.
Yes, since Tulga took over there have been some fundamental changes. New funding has helped, with new devs hired, and Customer Support properly staffed. Dev postings in the forums have increased. Several classes that were in bad shape got overhauls, including Monk, and Elemental Archer. Dragon armor got upgraded quite a bit and the new supply of hoardable drops has furthered eased the hoard grind. Perhaps the best omen though was a massive questionnaire, sent to all customers and to ex-players as well.
For a while, the game was subject to nerfs in an ill-considered attempt to "stretch" the content. Recently, content has been added instead. A very welcome change in attitude.
Paul "Tango" Tanganelli (who designed the UI and the map system, both outstanding) rewrote the combat manager some time ago, and is working on other engine modules. The need for client improvement is given high priority, and the client is being rewritten one module at a time. Bugs are being addressed more promptly and effectively. Tex mem buildup, (video memory leak) was greatly improved until a bug last week caused it to show up again. But, as things have changed, a bug fix went onto the test server this afternoon.
Beginner experience was and still is not good enough. The four beginner islands (of which three were basically unpopulated) are being combined into either one or two and a new tutorial system is being designed that is much more comprehensive than the current one. Suggestions from the players were requested about island design and tutorial features, and some of the suggestions were excellent. Equipment was hard to get for newcomers, so recently Militia Surplus Officers were added to sell equipment slightly inferior to player-crafted. In the meantime, go to New Brommel, the busiest of the four islands on Order Shard.
So, there is indeed a fresh breeze blowing, a most welcome one.
