Well.. no one understands the system, they havent officially announced it, or explained it, and people are going out of their way to say it is going to kill the game...

Square enix hasnt actually taken any time to explain the fatigue system, no one knows wha tit is, but nobody really wants to wait to have it explained to them.
from what i understand about the fatigue system, it forces yout o slow down, it forces you to play another class rather then powergrind to max level as soon as possible as fast as posible, i dont see the big deal. I still would rather wait for an indepth, explination that is perferably several pages long and real in depth.

This is just a clear cut case of a huge Translation issue and one of the many reasons FFXI and FFXIV are so different from most MMORPG norms we take for granted. Their betas aren't like our betas. They don't reveal every little detail about the game pre and even post launch, unlike tons of other companies.
The only negative I have with this is, how are they able to really market to the rest of the world if they can't "communicate" properly with their playerbase?
Still, it's not enough for me to not buy the game or try them, as I tend to enjoy the difference in our cultures and I look forward to learning more about the Japanese mindset as I did playing FFXI. It opened my mind to a lot of things and made me realize how much we, at least in the U.S., take so many things for granted and are far to critical/judgemental due to that.
It's funny, this whole issue seems to come down to the definitions each culture gives to "surplus" and "fatigue". Sometimes it's hard to remember that some languages don't use words we use and vice versa, or that the words may be similar in sound but have completely different contextual meanings, especially pertaining to a culture. Like how we say that's "bad". Meaning good. Trivial example, but there none the less.
The problem is actually pretty simple.
SE have 0 public relations skills, their comunication with the player base is unexistant.This is the main reason all the misleading information started.
This does not mean the devs and artists of the game have to be bad, is just not their area of work.Unfortunatly tanaka have 0 marketing skills. This does not make them bad at making games , and im certain the game in the end will be a masterpiece for the people who do like the genre.I said it before , SE doesnt work like your normal mmo company. They dont release info until release day, and beta is nothin like the game will be like past the basics.
Im actually pretty happy with the outcome,maybe SE finally learns game developers are not marketing genious by default even if they are at making games.Personally i dont care eighter way . i love surplus even on the worst of scenarios, but not becouse im deep into SE ass, but becouse it will get rid of players i do not wish to share the game with.
They should learn from ArenaNet and En Masse Entertainment. The game is still shrouded in mystery with less than a month to go until release.

Did the beta...and not for me. Game is quite dull and boring, for me that is (to each his own), I will stick with Fallen Earth or Eve.
Too bad Final Fantasy XIV is not your cup of tea. I hope you can find your own game soon.

Yes, i mean if incorrect rumors are spreading about their game and they're angry about it. Why not try to explain it? After all they are a month from release. Ah well go figure out the japs.
No it is just plain and simple Internet trolling. the easiest thing at the moment to write hey I have just come from XIV beta and it sucks because of blagh, blagh...WoW is so much better by comparison. Reality is the game will soon settle into a stable population after launch no matter what nonsense gets posted on third-party Internet sites, and let's face it some of them hype games to the heavens only for them to fail due to overhype, Aion being a great example of this.Several replies from Japanese fans also point to the lack of any official explanation as exacerbating, if not outright causing, the issue.

He does not say anything about the actual system. He just comes on flaming left and right about rumors without naming any, or calling any of them false.
The only thing he said was "people have rumors" in his entire rant. Nothing of substance was said AT ALL.
Fanboys, please just stop. Until you have something with substance to it, please stop trying to make a horrible problem look like gold. Games have issues, and this one is not small by any means. This is almost SWG NGE big IMO. They are shooting themselves in the foot.
If the statements were false I'm sure he would have no problem coming out and saying what the real system is. However, he has not done that. Want to know why. Because the system is a fatigue system.
Enjoy your preorders. Enjoy your 1 hour a day of playtime on your class LOL. Casuals win again IMO.
I rarely do the doom and gloom before the launch of a game. And I'm not going to do it here. But, if this system is ANYTHING remotely like what is being discussed you can count on HUGE backlash.
Now theres an excellent example of how not to handle PR.

I find it highly unlikely that the fatigue system will occur after only a single hours worth of exping. If this turns out to be true for the final version / retail, I can' see this game appealing to anyone in particular, especially the old stalwarts of FFXI (which there were / are many).
I think too many false-truths are being perpetuated at the moment. I will take a wait-and-see approach until things have been offcially confirmed, or experienced first-hand.
Look people are ridiculous. They say they want something unique, they say they are bored of easy mode WoW, but then anything new that comes along is wildly criticized, speculated upon, and trolled for days when these people are basing everything on assumptions.
It happens with every game when there is any kind of change to the formula. Every aspect of FFXIV that is different than WoW has been trolled to death. Then you have SWTOR where early reviewers say X is just like WoW, Y is just like WoW, you feel comfortable just sitting down and playing. If that is what you want, then you will have it in droves. Be open minded and don't nerd rage just because there is a system that changes things up a bit.
They could have called this rested xp, reduced xp across the board by a ton, and made you rested upon switching classes and no one would blink an eye. Instead they reverse it and call it fatigue system and give high base xp and people freak out and act like SE stole their cornbread. People need to back up and look at how much emotions they are putting into assumptions and speculations on an online forum.
Thats kinda funny we r exactly where we were before we have no clue what the system will be about... yet u tell the fans to stop trying to defend the system we dont know nothing about while u get on bashing the system with (most likely) false accusations...

Fact is we dont know nothing also fact is SE decided not to tell es what the system is all about as a matter of fact i dont think any game explains all its features to u. You get the basics some Candy's and the rest its up to u to explore if u want more u have to wait till after the release and read up on reviews.
But hey why wait if i can make wild accusations without any prove at all and feel like i am someone for a lil while...we all need to stop all the fans and the haters have to accept we dont know how it will turn out so all we do is making a joke out of us for wild guessing and unfair judging.
I am a fan but by no means would i support the system if it really limits me that much on the other hand am i not blind and see great potential such a system could add (if done right) but the point is i dont know yet how it will turn out so ill wait till we know and save my Judgment for than everything else is just bullshit and most likely will lead to massive embarrassment once the system is reviled and some ppls have to see that there statements were just plain stupid
Not sure why anyone wants to play a game with this kind of blatant ignorance and lack of customer appreciation. I guess if you have played FFXI and enjoy riding a bike without a seat more of that in FFXIV isnt a big deal.
Again, it is just a different take on the rested system. It isn't lack of customer appreciation they just believe in having the game be a mystery and allowing players to uncover things for themselves. They have listened from alpha through now and made changes based on players suggestions, and they want the game to grow like a living entity with the playerbase.

This should put to rest all other threads on this issue, and hope the other posts with all that mis info get locked soon.
they should sticky this to prevent future mis info on this subject, I was very close to canceling my preorder, and thats not right.
I almost hope that it just makes everyone leave, whether the bad rumors are true or not. The people who stick behind will be the true community, the ones who actually know that while square does try things new and yes sometimes they fail (relatively - FF13), they will end up with a quality product. I've played quite a few MMO's and while FF11 may have frustrated me the most in some ways, it also left the most potent experiences in my mind in terms of missions, storyline, boss fights, the music, the excitement. This is what they excel at and what makes them so different from others out there, and regardless of the stupid rumor sites, I trust that i'll still enjoy the game.
So please, if it realy turns you off, cancel your sub, maybe post your beta key if you don't plan on using it, for those of us still foaming at the mouth to have our own key but have the crappiest luck ever. We'll be happy to not see you in game bitching and whining about every little thing while the rest of us enjoy the game.
