Sadly you are right, although I couldn't really care less about being heard, I highly doubt anyone takes my posts as being significant in any way shape or form (and if they do more fool them). The point was if someone is going to attack a poster they should at least check what they had recently posted in that very thread lol.
Classic example of the ADHD generation.
I had already been through the entire thread, but thanks chief. My reply was in response to the beyond tired "QFE" that you felt compelled to post. If you have nothing to say or you have already said it, what's with the need to post an ancient and unclever forum acronym? Frankly, it makes you resemble that last little insult that you directed my way.
Also, don't tell me what I experience in a game or anything else. Someone else might tolerate that kind of arrogant bullshit, but I'm not that guy.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
and as a secondary question, why do so many players continue to play games they dont even like for so long?
1) This question has been asked on several different occasions. Usually, the overwhelming response is WoW.
I agree, but I dont think this is game related whatsoever. For one 3 trolls can completely ruin chat. Does that mean that everyone listening are a bunch of idiots? Not necessarily.
And the other, I truly believe it has NOThing to do with the game being played.
The larger the audience, better odds on running into jerks.
What game has the biggest playerbase atm? WoW.
And then to amplify the effect.....most of the posters on here have played WoW and there are prolly loads of other games they may not have tried... so again, it puts WoW into a prime position to have the worst community.
Personally, I dont see how it matters as you can find a good group of people to guild up with in nearly any mmo and those are going to be the people you are talking to the most anyways so they dictate your community.
AOC hands down wins this. Pve servers not so bad but play on Tyranny server and you will be shocked to say the least.
Close second is WOW though, Mainly due to the DB's who think they are elite because they have 6 hours a day to devote to running 25man raids , but at the same time has some of the nicest gamers mixed in there also.
Darkfall is no where near AOC and yes some DB's but you would be surprised on how many are willing to explain things and walk you through things.
Oh dear, reverting to forum warrior mode now are we? Wonder how far down the line it will be before you start rabbiting on about Nazi's or something.
Helpful advice (although i'm sure your not the kind of guy who takes advice eh big man...), if you are adverse to 'forum acronyms' like QFE, then I suggest you don't go on a forum, or at the very least when you do you take a deep breath and chill out before posting.
Just out of interest but how many more clichés are you going to spout?
He's still on his roll of originality and cleverness

So darkfall then like everyone said untill the sandbox people tried to turn it away twords wow again but they failed.
The ingame community is not like the forum community, and even then the forums are mainly people complaining about the state of the game and the development team.
Like I said AOC pvp community hands down wins this IMO.
age of conan pvp server tyranny had the worest community ive experienced, with rancism, swearing(which i dont mind and i use,but i mean aggressive and unneeded amounts) and just plain unhelpfull rude crude ppl, i enjoyed the game but still a terrible community experience<<<<<<<<<my 2 cents $

When they goto bed at night they wish to be CCP devs when they grow up.
Some of us play both, jeez where do we even begin to go with that one lol!
Seriously though EVE is far more polished and thought out in every respect, classic game and a great achievement. I have fond memories of UO but EVE is up there. But for ground pounding DF is as good as it gets at the moment imho (sadly some would say) and it's community is no where near as bad as people make out. Which does lead one to believe that most people who say DF don't actually play the game.

I don't think people trash talking makes a WORST PLAYER COMMUNITY. It's not pleasant to be around sometimes, but at least the people in a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER game are acknowledging other people's existence. They're communicating, having their version of fun. If it's not for you, leave.
I think the worst I ever experienced was FFXI. Snobby bunch of pricks. EQ2's later years got like that too. The Worst kind of MMO community is a quiet kind.
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.

I'd rather be around a quiet community rather than one that spews crap.
But forum wise, I usually get some well thought out replies, discussions and conversations.
Consider this, I can make a terrible post here and probably get some nice responses.
But I can go to the WoW forums and make what I feel is a great post, and get 3 troll answers and a couple more I LIKE PIE< I LIKE CAKE.
I'd really like to believe that...
The thing about people in forums is they are all passively egotistical, everyone here thinks their opinion is better and more in the right compared to everyone else (despite 'entertainment' being subjective).
Just typing this throws me in that loop as well, it's just human nature I guess.
EDIT: not sure why the quotes are getting screwed up....

Well I completely disagree and besides, I am right and you are wrong, so get over it!

I'd rather be around a quiet community rather than one that spews crap.
Why?
At least crap spewing is interaction. In EQ2 I saw new people to the game use the area chat function and then get SHHSHSSed. Or 'use a wiki' rather than any sort of helpful 'community'.
At least in Darkfall if you ask a question someone will answer it. Most people will. The community in that game is actually grossly misrepresented. I didn't care for the game, but I saw people trying to literally amass an army rather than just mindlessly gank like in a lot of games that just throw PVP in as an after thought.
There's some rough language. But anyone with a MOTHER FUCKING SPINE in this modern era should have the balls to handle it. It's also during times when such trash talking would take place. I mean all MMOs are combat games at their very core design. Even if 'spew' is rough, more often than not as one side wins and another loses you'll see a few 'good games' 'nice tactic' 'wished we had thought of that'. Which again makes for a way better community than a quiet one.

At the fear of angering coprophilia or whatever that 'forum speak' adverse poster was called....QFE.
More often then not players in Darkfall will offer help, items, advice and a shit lot more info then the community of other games do. It's amazing though how people still get offended by a bit of sledging in a pvp game, in combat they are your opponents expect 'banter'
As you say, it's far worse to ask for advice and get told to feck off or simply be ignored by people who arent even playing against you.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."

BEcause part of the over~whelming sh*t in FF11 was (1) can I borrow gil, (2) do you want to party up [despite the fact you've clearly stated in your comment your AFK but I'll try a few times and then give you sh*t for it and (3) ppl do log onto a game and just stayed logged on (scary thought I know).

And about the "Mother Fu**ing Spine" sh*t, what are we 2? Are we the same immature brat that likes to play FPS games and say "omgz I killed you" and then gets shot right back or knifed and whines about it? This isn't the TO show, hell this ain't even guiding light. MMO's have combat incorporated into them but some of the sh*t I encounter is really idiotic. Do you feel proud that in Guild Wars I can kill 2 of your buddies when its me taking on 3 of you? You think your "omg I pwn'ed you" impresses me in that situation? Am I impressed in FF when I'm asked to come to WHM and a ranger kills me and sends me a tell saying "I own you bi*tch", really, that's growing balls?
Getting to the core of it, most of this sh*t and the syndrome of mmo's is needing to be heard and seen like your "king of the hill", you want the e~peen armor to prove it, you want to pawn players to show it but the majority don't care about developing their skills in the game. That's an exaggeration I admit but all of us know players like that. All of us have a whiney player we know who does nothing but moan and whine when things don't go their way. Ok Mr. Bunny, let's clear this up right now. I have no problem with "forum speak" such as lol/imo/afaik etc. It's tired and old crap such as QFE/QFT or my personal favorite "This", that I can't stand.
It may have been more acceptable many years ago to use them when they were new and shiny, but nowadays it makes you look unoriginal and shows to me that you have nothing more to add. Attempting to decrease the length of a post using acronyms we're all familiar is one thing, telling me I'm wrong about my experience within a game's community with three letters adds nothing to the discussion and makes you look arrogant.
This site even had an article that covered the same issue I'm talking about. I've seen the same thing pop up on other sites as well.

I can mirror this, I personally can't abided WoW (or any themepark mmo i've played for that matter), but you can guarantee that a vast amount of players will name that in any 'whats the worst....' poll without having actually played it or having any knowledge of it simply because it is de rigueur.
