my best guess so far:

Scholars

Elementalist — master of the elements; the elementalist changes their elemental attunement mid battle to adapt to any situation.

Necromancer — master of the dark arts; the necromancer draws on life force and uses it to strengthen or heal themself and others.

Shaman— master of the cults; the shaman places totems to kick your ass while sitting on a stone drinking tea.

Adventurers

Ranger — master of animals; the ranger calls upon their animal allies to assist them in the field of battle.

Druid — master of transformation; the druid transforms into animals you have never been killed by before.

Gunman — master of the bullet in your head.

Soldiers

Warrior — master of weapons; the warrior uses adrenaline to improve their attacks or fuel a powerful burst skill.

Baalrog — master of big; he is big, he is scary, he kicks your ass.

Look to the past and youll likely find your answer probably look for monk or mesmer  as the last Scholar class Assassin and maybe a new class for adventurer and like lt Dervish or Paragon for the last warrior class. My hints http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Profession

I say Monk for scholar. Assassin/rouge/thief and Engineer for Adventurer. Paladin, Crusader, or Barbarian for Soldier

WoW copy pasta Shaman in GW2? In your wet dreams.

The chance of us having a WoW copy pasta Druid is also close to 0%, because Norn race is already taking care of animal transformations.

Ermmm you guys do realize that WoW was not the game to give way to those names or how those types of classes played out.... Why is it that people relate those classes to wow? I really do not get it?!

I don't see a shaman or druid profession at all, especially not in the way you have described them.

Mesmers and Assassins have a good chance of being back.

An Engineer or similar style profession which uses guns as its primary weapon probably is one of the new one.

And the "blue mace lady" will be a templar/paladin (perhaps named Crusader?) type profession, and the one in which former monks will enjoy playing, at least according the devs.

So my next 4 professions are

    Mesmer (scholar)

    Assassin (adventurer)

    Engineer (adventurer)

    Crusader (soldier)

Edit: What is with the Baalrog guess? That is just really out of left field.

Keep in mind that they said two of the professions will be brand new to the GW world.

I guess you're right.. A druid with animal transformations is older than MMxxxxs.. But can you tell me when a SHAMAN with TOTEM SUMMONING appeared (before WoW of course)?

Can you imagine the uproar if they added Shamans with totems but excluded Ritualists? Not going to happen.

No monks due to removal of dedicated healers,

We pretty much know Assassin / Mesmer will be in, and if the last two classes will be new to GW2, then we'll need some kinda  Engineer / Crusader for the last two.

Considering how unique the classes are trying to be, there are only so many playstyles you can have before they start overlapping.

it's possible still for a non-healer monk class to be in the game. smiting powers, more of a support role with protection prayers maybe.

They will combine Monk (with much fewer healing skills) with high armor and some mellee skills intoo the 2nd heavy armor class

I think they will combine  Mesmer and Ritualist intoo one new class.... The class would be able to equip swords in the main hand and pistolls in the offhand and also have some mellee abbilities.. It would be the ultimate jack of all trades..

And everyone would play that class

Tough a smart developer could even design that class in such way that it would not be overpowered.

I also think that there will not be an assasin but there will be a rogue class that when choosen the right spec plays like an assasin. It will be the 2nd medium armor class

Leaves us with the 3rd medium armor class from which we only know that he will be able to use guns....

And to all people thinking that there will be a crusader class.... Crusaders are a rank in the Vigil, nothing more nothing less.

The revelation of the Necromancer shows that it is now a hybrid between a GW1 Necro and Ritualist.

If I would guess the last 4 professions, here's my pick:

    Scholar:

Archivist - this profession is inspired by the Asura how they conduct their research and hunger for knowledge

    Adventurer:

Infiltrator - this profession is a hybrid of a Mesmer and Assassin

Skirmisher - this profession is the profession that handles rifles

    Soldier:

Templar - this profession is the official Wa/Mo (cant kill a classic IMO), may also compliment a 55 Monk build

    Ready for GW2!!!

I think almost everyone already found the same conclusion:

    Rogueish Class

    Paladinish Class

    Engineerish Class

    Mesmer

  • xover33xover33 Member Posts: 70

I am almost 100% positive Monk is not coming back.  It will go against the philosophy of having a healing class and monks were all about Healing and being defensive.

I think a Sin (assasin) will be back.  Just to popular and fun not yo have it back

Even though I was never a fan of Mesmer's I think they will be back because they were a very unique class to Guild Wars.

Now two new classes to me will be a Paragon hybrid.  Kind of like how that person suggest a Crusader.  A class that wears heavy armor can dish out a lot of damage, but can also do a great job of supporting a party.  This class will use a shout like mechanic (but it will not be the same as paragon's shouts).

Last class,  I would like to see a Druid, which would be cool, but remember Norn are already shapeshifters, I do not think they will have a Shapeshifter class being released that doesn't really affect the shapeshifting Norn.  With that said a class that uses the Druid's other strengths IE using nature to better output damage, Heal, and support other classes is a possibility.  a class that uses a staff  for melee damage, but can also cast midrange dps spells would be cool.

Based on the lore, we can pretty well assume that the remaining scholar class will be Mesmer.

The remaining adventurer classes will be assassin and a support-heavy class (but not shaman, druid or monk - dervish will not reappear, their place in the lore is pretty much past).

The remaining soldier class will not be paragon for the same reason dervish will not appear.  My theory is that the remaining soldier class will be the engineer-type than many are expecting - perhaps a siege engineer or the like.  They'd wear heavy mechanized armor, use guns, and provide support/control through various inventions.  That fits into the soldier motif without being a cliche paladin or dark knight (neither of which fit into GW lore anyway).

    So to recap:

    Scholar: Elementalist, Necromancer, Mesmer.

Adventurer: Ranger, Assassin, (as yet unnamed new support-heavy-type? 'Pilgrim?'), (No idea - maybe a marauder type or wayfarer type with a bag of tricks?).

    Soldier: Warrior, Siege Engineer class.

  • emikochanemikochan Member UncommonPosts: 290

The trouble with that idea is that the BML on the far right is just too blatantly wearing heavy armour.. The engi/gunner/newclass has to be an adventurer, shame really as your siege engineer idea sounds pretty fun.

i've read couple of posts mentioning monks... there will be no monks at all in gw2 (Healing and death in gw2)

As for the actual real professions we ll have:

    Mesmer

    Assassin

Knight (or whatever a protective warrior can be called, i doubt they r gonna stick with cliches like paladin and cleric)

Engineer/gunner or something similar (the only profession that doesnt have concept art http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Professions_reveal at the bottom)

There wont be a dervish and there wont be a paragon. Scythes and spears are not in the game. And there wont be a monk as in GW1.

From this, I think (as he said, towards the bottem), the concept art shows a mesmer (always pink or purple), an assassin, and another warrior like class (notice the different color).

I think mesmer will still have the same name, but the assassin might gain a different name.

As to the other heavy armor class, there are so many names to choose from.

The final class, as we have seen lots of guns in the game already, would most likely involve that.

before gamescom allot of my friends where trying to convince me that the profession to the bottum left of the elementalist on the guild wars 2 website, would be an assasin... they assumed this because he was hunched over and looked to have spiky long hair like the assasins from guild wars 1, but sadly it was all just speculation based off of concept art that was aparently "leaked." at this point its anybodys guess.

Personally if the monk made a comeback as some type of melee warrior who uses smiting, I could live with that.

And if they do bring back the mesmer you can expect it will be a much different profession in comparison to guild wars 1, just like the new necromancer in guild wars 2 is much different from the first game's.

Yep, especially since Hexes won't be in the game.

They've talked about  there being renamed professionsa and new ones. If they meant plural on both then two have to be renamed and two brand new, there is no more room for returning professions with the same names. Mesmer, assassin, dervish, paragon, riatualist are all out as far as names go.  There are no spears (paragon's weapon) or scythes (dervish's weapon).

They of course could have professions that mix GW1 professions with new names.  At least one of the remaing 4 has to use pistol since that weapon is known to be in the game.
