Interesting...
If they do PVP right that would be a HUGE draw to the game from other games that have broken PVP systems....
Not sure how they're going to get around the whole level problem though. PVP just doesn't work very well in a level based system unless they're adding a 'battlegrounds' type area (like the frontiers in DAOC) where only the strong survive. Which could work out but I suspect that pvp'ers are going to be grinding like mad to hit 50 before PVP'ing if they do that.
I wish they'd release a few more details on how they plan to implement this. I have a lot of faith in SOE though... they've got PVP just about perfect in PlanetSide and in SWG. So if they put their minds to it I'm sure they can get it working well in EQ2. Though that level based system is gonna give the dev's fits before all is said and don I bet

From what I read I don't know if levels are going to have any bearing. But I do like the idea of a completly seperate system from the PvE environment.
Can't wait to see where they take this personaly and I am happy to see they arn't going to mess with the PvE skills as they are balanced quite well right now I think.

Not even PvP can help this game in SOE's attempt to become more like WOW. Let's face it, the game flopped bigtime. I played since day 1 of retail till 1 month ago so yes I do know of which I speak.

You guys are so right. The population is actually going up and not dropping. yeah that's it.
And the game isn't becoming more like WOW to try and compete. In fact WOW stole all their ideas from EQ2. Yeah that's the ticket.
EQ2 fanbois crack me up with their neverending sticking their fingers in their ears and chanting "la la la la la la la" when faced with the reality of this shallow & mediocre game.
If I were Wickes I would come up with something witty and prove you have no idea what you're talking about, but since I'm not I'll just say: You're a dumbass.

Have you considered the possibility that they might actually be fully aware of the reality of the game and enjoying it as it is?
If I see the word "fanboi" one more time, I think I may vomit.

Already stated they wern't going to Implement any PvP servers. I mean really guys if you just need PvP so bad there are plenty of games out there with it already in there.
AO, Daoc and WoW to name just 3 off the top of my head. I enjoy the purely PvE environment that is EQ2. If I need a PvP fix I go play another game.
But as for the constant WoW vs EQ2 stuff, each game appeals to differnent people.
WoW = Solo, PvP fast paced game play that is open to new players to the MMO market and vets that want something different. Easy to find Quests with the ? and ! system, crafting is deep but straight forward. etc. I love EQ2, but Blizzard really made WoW accessable to alot of people that normaly wouldn't play MMOs so we should all be happy even though persoanly it didn't intrest me much.
EQ2 = Some Solo play (even more so since latest patch so WoW and EQ2 match up here more so now I think), Raids and Group Focus combat in most places, more complicated system focused on those who are craving more options in things and Vets who enjoyed EQ1. Purely PvE gameplay to keep classes blanced vs the Environment and not each other (much easier to do I think)
I don't know why yours was deleted, does that mean we can't call someone stupid now without being nuked around here? Seems to me since the Mourning issue the decent people are getting attacked as much as the trolls, and I am not real happy about it.

If you notice EQ2 has only 1.8% market share more than Ultima Online. Yes......that's right......Ultima Online. Now since UO is older than dirt and EQ2 is so cutting edge you would think the market share for EQ2 would be well beyond a measely 1.8% more but in fact it isn't.

I never have belived that chart, the way they gather the numbers bothers me. EQ2 isn't a flop, it just seems so compared to the massive sales that WoW has had is all. EQ2 is doing quite well I think and will only get stronger as they continue to add things to it.
WoW is working on what, its 4th release? Everquest II has only had one release that I know of and thats in the US. Sony rarely does foreign releases so their numbers will always be far lower then a game that has official foreign releases, ESPECIALLY in an asian country.
WoW wouldnt even release its subscription numbers til after they had a second or third release, before that they would only give sales numbers, so I am not very worried about what anyone thinks about EQ II's success when they compare it to WoW. I enjoy the game and there are PLENTY of people to group with in it. Not to mention the population is still growing.

i don't like AO, DAoC, and i wouldn't never touch WoW with a 10 ft pole again, i tried it, couldn't stand it, as i played it i felt myself gettign dumber from the dumbed down gameplay, i am sorry, i like my MMO/RPGs with a side of diffaculty, i don't like being spoon fed, thats kinda why i have gone back to EQ 1 a lot more then EQ now

To further my point that EQ2 is a flop let's look to this chart
http://www.mmogchart.com/ click on "market share by MMOG"
If you notice EQ2 has only 1.8% market share more than Ultima Online. Yes......that's right......Ultima Online. Now since UO is older than dirt and EQ2 is so cutting edge you would think the market share for EQ2 would be well beyond a measely 1.8% more but in fact it isn't.
Just more proof that EQ2 is a major flop.
