Seems like all the patching has been hitting that 90% + mark and then stalling out. I sure hope this is resolved at launch. If its doing this to a 4mb file, whats it going to do with large updates.

You will see a couple folders with odd names. Open either of them and go into metainfo. Look for the most recently edited file. You may have to look in both sets of folders to find it. Open the most recently edited file in utorrent. Once its downloaded, make sure the downloaded file is put into the patch folder (this sits next to the metainfo folder of the file you opened in utorrent).
I don't feel like going through all this. This is SE's job not mine. Hope they fix it soon. Not sure if I'm going to get this game. Hugely dissapointed but it's not all bad. So I'm on the fence.
Usually when a torrent gets stuck at a certain point it means not enough people are seeding that part of the file. Everyone is probably getting that part and stopping their torrent. Torrents work great if people will seed since we are relying on the magnanimity of others it fails.
Also bear in mind some torrents do this to make people seed longer.Everyone quits the torrent when they get their part so by not completing it you seed longer.
I'd like to slap the person who came up with torrent.
It comes down to a bandwidth issue and their patcher. Torrent technology itself is exactly what you use in a situation where tons of people are trying to download at the same time because it works better in situations like that because of the amount of people downloading and sharing parts of the file that they have already downloaded. It is better than their stalled servers.
Oh so the torrent downloader is working so much better then. Oh wait. it isn't.
Wait let me post a photo, cause now I fixed the other issue and I have a new issue. Well 2 new issues, my internet is now really really slow, and I am freezing at the Final Fantasy loading patcher screen.
You know, I had just posted on the forums at FFXIV Vault about this. This makes no sense to me. There is no reason for players to be running about, trying to get a patch from elsewhere when the servers should be giving you everything you need in order to play the game! I've be very disappointed in the development of this game post Aug 31st. Theres been so many screw ups and bugs in patches, that I have to tell you, maybe SE should consider moving the launch up by say two months and maybe push for a Christmas release. I mean for a class A game (graphics) it sure seems to be runned like some cheesy low budget mmo. Here we are 16 days from launch, and they (SE) can't even get the servers to post up the full patch. I too prepaid for the CE version, but calling this a Open Beta is a mistake. Take some time and get the game working correctly before inviting the world to check it out.
I pretty much had my fill with this BS with the horrendously slow and often timed out downloads. Or problems logging onto the hub server where My character is, or trying to complete a leve quest only to get kicked off the server, not being able to get back on for hours, and then my quest is gone cause it seems to contine to time even when im off the server. Or problems with SSAO, and the slow software cursor, ( though i play with a gamepad since you are kind of forced to play withone for more ease of use.)
it is one thing after another, frankly I will let everyone else muck through the problems so If I ever try a trial I wont have to deal with a majority of these problems. I will be able to see the game as it should be, rather than through constant frustration. but hey, have fun, good luck, I will keep track on as things progress.

its really not even worth going thru all this crap.. if the game was worth it.. but its just not.. its already a failure and its not even out yet, theres no way they can get this game to where it needs to be by the end of the month.

It takes less than 10 minutes to download the files and restart the patcher. Looks like it is pong and asteroids for you.

Yeah it didn't take that long. Was just an annoying little hiccup that I was uncertain how to fix, if anything I am more mad about my internet being suck after I just upgraded it to the fastest package than this.
yeah, 10 minutes that shouldnt even take any to begin with. it should work right every time, its obviously a crap patcher. if they release it on time the game will suffer more than it already is going to. needs at least 6 months of debugging and quests added.
i got past being hung at 96% now it just times out.. every time.. what now?
I could tell you how to use uTorrent or any other torrenting program to basically sync with the patcher if you'd like. Yay for crappy official patchers.. sure that they'll at least fix -that- by launch, though, or I'd be FLABBERGASTED.
Objectivity is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.

I agree though. Not sure if they are doing it on purpose to limit the amount of people playing or what the deal is. Either way its unprofessional.

Why does it need quests. You have a storyline and guildleves what more do you need ? If you ever played FFXI you should know that the way to level up in this game is by grinding on mobs with a group. We don't need any quests added. You obviously have no clue what FF online gaming is all about. The only quests we ever had in FFXI was AF gear quests, nation rank and airship rank. The same pretty much applies for FFXIV.

i've been playing mmos to know 3 quests to do and then farming rats for 4 levels will have 0 people wanting to play it.
I've been playing FF offline games since before most of you were born, so i might not have a clue what FF 11 was like, but from every review and person that played it that wasnt a fanboi it sucked, and just because 14 and 11 are online games doesnt mean 14 has to inherit stupid crap from 11.

FFXI lasted how long and from what I understand people still like playing it ? iI you don't then why are you wasting your time on here trying to discourge people from liking FFXIV ? Like I said, pong and asteroids...

yeah people are still playing age of conan and vanguard that doesnt mean they are any good. i'm not trying to discourage anyone from doing anything i'm just saying its never going to get very popular if you have to grind 75% of the time, have horrible UI lag, and the world is uninspired and small with not many interesting landmarks. its obviously procedurally generated because there is no sense of depth in the world like things belonging there, like in other games wakling across ruins or discovering a secret cave or tunnel, they all had a backstory and associated quests.. not here. its from one tent outpost to another. Only reason i'm trying it is because i loved FF2 and dragoons, but ever since then even the offline ones have went downhill.
and theres no reason the patcher should be timing out, and definately no reason i should have to hunt certain files down and open up torrents and stuff.. so what am i supposed to do, its telling me that it times out and to restart the game but i get the same error everytime i do.

Well if you are expecting perfection then it certainly will not happen in mmo. As for grind, Wow at launch had a ton of grind of all sorts and FFXI had level grinds. Just about every mmo has had some kind of grind but it is all about choosing what kind of grind you like to do.
