One of my my best/most recent memory is how i started off a massive Zion vs Machinist fight at mara central hardline, i managed to convince lots of the low lvl peeps to join in and tottaly overwhelmed the lvl30+ people because they kept getting interlocked by the low lvlers. I managed to kill quite a few myself(being around 27), then some more zion guys came to help as did the machines got more friends to help out but we still their ass :-)
SWG ive played for 6 months(one of the longer mmorpgs ive been with) didnt have that too many good moments as i was no where near a considered "good" pvp lvl(took me ages to get TKA master)
UO ive been part of some pretty big RP battles on europa, fighting off player orc invasion was awsome, we killed like 2 of them the second they came on our screen with bows and magic. rofl
Thats all i can think of atm. What are your favorite moments in mmorpgs?
Comments
I had some great times in Shadowbane. I remember one time, fighting and killing 2 level 50+characters on my level 35 wizard. They were coming to gank me and my group and ended up getting owned. Then they came back to target me specifically and I killed one and escaped from the other. The guy that I killed the second time was so freaking pissed, his friend was laughing at him.
One of my favorite moment's.
Myself and 4 friends got 5 packhorses each in UO and loaded them with greater explosion potions. we parked them all around the bank, once of the most populated areas on the server and waited until server peak where the most people were online in that area at the moment. Issued the All Drop command...Potions hit the ground...BOOM...wave bye bye to a Freaking Ton of people standing at the bank...Instant murderer status..Absolutely Classic..and worth Every last minute of standing around in the house wearing off those murder counts..I think that is the hardest I have ever laughed in 10+ years of gaming.
Hmm...
Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices in a crowded public area, at peak traffic hour. No specific person or group targeted, with the objective of as much slaughter as possible.
Do you live in Fallujah or Mosul? I didn't know you could get a good internet connection there.
Hope you keep it virtual.

Actually not in a mmorpg but in a game that haves Rp servers and money system
I was Mother of af family on 6 i had to do everything with 2 teens and 2 kids and 2 babys :P But i still rember it that was good and funny times :P
www.role-play.us if you wanna see but its full with n00bs
Omg i dont know what to write
You know...never in a hundred years would I have thought to link my virtual escapades with something so grim in reality.
No, I live in the US and I have a healthy respect and definition of the difference between fantasy and reality.
Killing people online..especially en masse is fun..People dieing in reality is an atrocity no matter how you view it....There is no save point, or restart button for life.
Glad to hear you see the virtual as so different from reality, Dekoth. I still don't see how killing a bunch of folks you don't know online would be fun, but you are correct that the long-term consequences of doing so are almost nil because the damage is as virtual as the explosion.
I play MMOs to do things I can't do in reality and to get a break from some of the worst aspects of our real world. Seeing things like vehement roleplay based on quasi-religious factions or indiscriminate PvP attacks takes away from my enjoyment of whichever game I'm in. Not everyone feels that way, of course. Good for them; I'll just gravitate towards games that don't lend themselves to that kind of play.
Good luck to you.

I thought I had better actually reply to the thread topic:
Two remembrances from EQ:
1) My first Hate raid, tanking the mobs as the monk pulled them into the packed group of 40+ players in the entrance alcove. The cheesy graphics and difficulty of positioning didn't detract from the exhiliration of fighting on the edge, when any number of mistakes by any member would result in a wipe. Actually clearing enough mobs to step forward out of the alcove on that first raid was a great feeling.
2) My first time tanking Emperor Ssraeshza. We were really on it, and had worked so hard to get everyone there. Great stuff.
Lately, my best times have been even better: duoing with my RL lady in Atys. Saga of Ryzom lends itself much better than EQ ever did to spending time with a significant other without the obligations to other people that come with grouping and raiding.
Cheers,

Alot of my favorite moments come from the early days of DaoC. Hitting emain at lvl35 and getting owned by the few lvl 50's at the time. The exitement of going on my first relic raid with hundreds of other peeps. Having great 3 way battles at the milegates and the feeling of being one of the few left standing then suddenly you get finished off by a stealther! Happy days
One of my favorite moments came while on a leveling treadmill in EQ. I was in a random group killing stuff in the OverThere. I was a druid just casting a Damage spell. After several kills a guy (rouge) started mouthing me for only getting off one spell per fight. I got mad and started mouthing him and before I knew it I was unloading and we started killing stuff fast. The puller got to excited and over pulled. The tank died and the healer was out of mana. The rouge started begging for a heal, but I had just enough mana to teleport away, before I left I told him I wish I had a little more mana in reserve.
Oh yeah and in UO a guy tricked me into going to Felucia and then ganked me, made me mad but was actually pretty funny.
Asheron's Call: going to the PVP server making a noob and wading into the roaming gank gangs to see how long I could last. (not long) Oh and climbing the tallest mountain I could find then taking a running leap. That was awesome
Asheron's Call 2: The big impromtu music groups
Eve: getting owned by Concord
EQ2: Best memory, the day I quit.
WWIIOL: Stalking a guy for 15 minutes only to get gut shot when he come charging around the corner I was stealing hiding behind.
I LIKE PIE!!! do you?
would have to say a few favorite moments
L2 defending gludio castle we gathered are clan together outside the gates and rushed there camp in matter of mins tore down there defenses and ran em out it was insane loved it.
WoW early stages of the game i was one of the highest lvl's in server we got raid together and headed for elf lands ran into a raid comin are way was classic we dusted em and called it a day tons of fun running aroudn the cornor with 30+ guys and running into tons of alliance comin your way very surprised
Everquest Online Adventures: Frontiers
One of my favorite memorys is when the servers went down on Everquest Online Adventures. Everone makes lvl 1s and go on Proudpine outpost (last server up) and we kill Slagbreath lvl 40 or 45. Freeport Guards level 35, and Rea nechavik level 60+ and we prevail each one .
All the raid i have attended in guilds. One particular raid when everone was ported to PoS (plane of sky) and we waited for res to get to Quinenessence of Veeshaw for like 30 minutes and when we are all there like 30 - 45 people we are all headed to the hill where you normal camp for the raid, and my good ol' friend ryansti drops the controller and pulls Quinenessence of Veeshaw and everyone dies. Funny or fustrating?
Others include my 1st time playing a tank (my friends) a level 49 Troll warrior and i am constantly losing aggro. I got better and got it to 52 .
Everquest I
And one of my favorite is when i first started Everquest I. My first mmorpg i was so thrilled. Thats when exploreing was fun but now it is just a waste of time.
Last but not least and im sure theres tons more..When my level 65 barbarian warrior was leaving Everfrost on the boat to halas it was laggy and i fell through and drowned at the bottom. I lost all my gear. I was never a good swimmer on Everquest, i always sink like a rock.
WWIIOL has given me a ton of these.
Best one was assaulting a town in Holland one night. Had a squad of about 10 guys, various weapons. It was probably 2am game time so it was almost pitch black. After crawling and huddling in a clump of trees myself and some one else stuck our heads out and began taking fire. It was awsome. The muzzle flashes were lighting up the the area and flashes from the grenades, smoke everywhere from the smoke grenades. Eventually an enemy tank showed up and the tracers form that added to it. With the sound and other stuff it was awsome, like a scene out of Band of Brothers. To bad we got cut off and killed around day break, although we did take a few of those Brits with us.
A wonderful moment in Planetside was when we had just taken over a base and there was about 50 allies standing inside the court yard. I came flying in my Reaver at head height at full speed. I capped around 15 heads, pulled hard on the stick shooting straight up into the air. At max height I made a sharp turn and went for the kamikaze dive. Bailed out at about 50m, watching my Reaver crash into the crowd. Hehe, must have killed another 10.
I was banned from using vehicles and weapons for about two days due to the amount of grief points that I received. But it was worth it, i could stop laughing for hours. You should have seen the comments i got. Can't repeat them as I dont want to get bannned
Anyway, this is how I remered it.
SWG - First month into release I had the best pet you can possibly buy, and came up with the famous "Get creature stuck in wall and then attacks the whole city" bug. My creature that was like a giant ape (His name was Ping Pong) killed around 100 people in the city.
SWG - One of the richest players on the server at the time, I bought as much tatooine houses as possible to spell the "F" word.
SWG - First group to actually get into the tusken city at the time.
FFXI - My guild ventured pretty much across the whole world in one night. Great times in FFXI, can't name them all.
DAoC - Realm wars was a blast. I remember we held a castle for three hours when Midgard was launching catapults at our towers.
Lineage 2 - In beta I killed as much people in the city as possible who were afk selling stuff.
WoW - Raided Stormwind by myself and spent about 2 hours in there strolling around. When a group of level 60's saw me I hid inside a shop. That didn't work.
UO, back in the good old days, not the crap they call a game now. I had a Dread Lord GM Mage/Archer and decided to go to the moutains in minoc and hunt the miners. I killed 6 miners until they decided to form a hunting party (at the time I had a 100,000GP bounty on my head). Well, I reamined hidden and saw a group of 15 well equipped adepts and a couple of gm swordsmen. As they were about to leave (since I was hidden they thought I left), I summoned a demon and it started raping the adepts, and then I just pwn3d all the swordsman with my 8th circle spells. Killed all 15 and got some nice massive loot.
Also, UO was the only game I ever used an exploit in, but, I didn't really consider it an exploit, I was an evil bastard so I played the part. The two that I used were these:
You could stack tables along a castle wall and climb to the top. I looted many items this way.
There was a way to get to someone elses bank box when they had it opened. I just opened mine and remained hidden at the bank and cleaned out peoples boxes.
And, I loved keeping my castle public and remaining hidden. Whenever some people wondered in, I always opened a protal to a dungeon with demons, liches and other high level stuff that just tore them apart, and once again, I looted their bodies, cut them to pieces, and mounted their heads as trophies.
Id have to say the first 12 months of UO provided probably 90% of my best gaming moments. The other 10% have happened since those days in basically every other MMO since.
UO year 1 was so FREE. There was almost nothing you couldnt do and every time you logged in, you saw something happen you had never seen before.
Probably the most fun was house breaking. From having pets fly in through windows and open doors to killing a buddy and rezing him on the tile inside the door. It was so much fun just to be a house breaker that for months its all we did.
Those days of open ended gameplay and surprise excitement may well be gone for good

I think on of my best moments in mmorpg was logging into UO on pacific getting ready to go do some pvp and having like 30 people running around my house waiting for me and my friend to log in and kill us. No other game has come close to UO in its 1st year of being online.

I forgot I did have a blast in SWG for a few. Had a massive city built on flurry called Mos Kast (GSF)and our city made big news on the sever it was pvp heaven. Had like 15 imp bases around that city, But the nerfs to classes and all the bugs just made that game lame after awhile. They should have put more risk in that game.

I still think my best moments where playing Helbreath. It was one of the first MMORPG's I have played and the people and Friends made in game where great. Athello, Hehet,Maguito and Buffslayer where great people and the times we had hunting and just talking in game where fun times. And I still love the fishing system in that game ,

Didnt play till 2000 though, but damn good game, too many memories to count - that game has depth.
Damn Dekron, you are one evil bastard! Hehe. How did the back box exploit work? Ive never heard of that one.
