EVE has the potential to be way more successful if they forced the players to be decent. In my opinion they just have to take away player anonymity and the game would really thrive. However thats pretty close to impossible haha, so good luck. I enjoy the atmosphere in eve with the chat box closed and sitting in a newbie corp. I like exploring the game and producing things for the masses, because frankly, eve players consume a lot haha its hard to keep up with the destruction some months. I stay just below the threshhold of all that crap, and I quite enjoy it. I never have a bad day on eve. I doubt many other eve players can say the same.

Unless they transfer all assets to an alt then stop playing the character you know about....... I believe theirs a scale in life that as anonymity increases so does the chances of the person being a bastard (with 4chan at the end of that scale).

I love the spy games part of eve but what we really need is in game tools to use against these ppl. How bout we have a financial agent that can give us transaction info on a character (similar to locatar agents). Wouldn't be foolproof but it's better than "this character is deleted, you are screwed".

Can also be applied to alliance operation things like a withdrawl limit on the wallet so you can only take so much at once. If you remember back to one of the orignal famous scams done by the GHSC they didn't just have 1 member spy they had spies all through that alliance in position to strike. This is what I would like to see done in eve.

Instead we have dozens of people with access to a giant red button labeled "DESTROY ALLIANCE". This leads to far more "I'll scam cause it's incredibly easy" rather than "I'll build a big ellaberote plot to scam these people".

EVE *is* successful because it's pretty much the only game that doesn't *force* players to do anything. Instead, EVE gives more and more tools to do pretty much *anything*, it's a players choice if they want to use it in a (ethically) good or a bad way, as long as they use them as intended (not exploiting system weaknesses that is).

Pretty much take the opposite of everything you just said, and you'd be right.

How did you make that connection?

Don't say that you secretly admire the EVE players :S

    I wont :P

Im glad the EvE fanatics have their game that they call home.  I think a lot of people dont like EvE because its endgame is basically one big screwfest.  If youre into that type of thing, go for it.  I just dont get the pretentious attitude that EvE players seem to have.  Its really not anything to feel elite about.  Youre basically playing an asshole sim.  LIke I said, if that fits your personality, have at it. Im glad you found a niche. Cheers!  :)

I think it is depending mostly on what side of the fence that you are. If you look at what you is writing, you're looking down on the EVE players. If not all, some of them, just in the same way some is looking down on whatever game the other person (on the other side of the fence) is playing.

In the end, people tend to play the game they like the most, and so it is natural to say this and that game is worse than my favourite game.

The guy blowing your ship up, scamming you out of money, is most like just the same as you are. You're a nice guy right? First thing to realize it only about some organized pixels on the screen, nothing more than a game. It is as simple as that.

That's the most important point in the thread. I've scammed billions of isk from people in Eve, broke up alliances, stolen ships and expensive modules galore but it's all part of the game. The funny thing is that the vast majority of people I scam let their own greed blind them to what's happening so I use that against them...not everybody who gets scammed in Eve is a poor defenseless newbie.
