So now it's killed by cheaters and bad Assasin/Ranger balance?

Can't help but hear from old buddies that still play AOC about mass use of cheats ($ program) that allow skiping combos (which mean you can instantly finish combo instead of doing all 3 attacks of a serie). Not sure how many people use it, but even few is enough (especialy if you play minis vs same ppl).
Also the fact that people who cheat are banned only for 1 week doesn't help it either.
Another thing i noticed myself during re-trial - about every 1 of 3 characters running around are either assain or ranger and they own - sins kill mages easily (especially necros which are quite weak now) and rangers that can 1 shot mages and cause insane amounts of damage. This i witnessed personally.
So how bad is it now?
I'd like to hear those who PVP a lot of course (especially on Fury server) as i am no longer active player but sometimes thinking of returning...

Alex, I will give you the facts about Fury server.
1: Ruscorp quit because of Bori
2: Futilez quit because of Bori
3: Nastrandir quit because of Bori
4: Some players exploited perhaps 1 years normal gametime AA's in 3 days - Funcom didn't rollback. Temp 7 day bans for a few "example" cases. New and returning players have absolutely NO CHANCE to catch up.
5: Hacking is RAMPANT - I really mean this. I know this for certain, because I know the person who wrote the code, and I also know exactly what it can do. I also know that this code was "given" to the community. The amount of people who now use it is staggering. And Funcom can't or most likely won't do a thing about it. They will allow cheaters to cheat, to keep their subscriptions. It's horrible, but true.
6: Fury is haemorrhaging players at an alarming rate. The once biggest pvp server of them all is dead.
7: There are pvp 10's running around with ~100 kills. PvP levels gained on nabcake pve servers by digging rocks. Good luck damaging someone with pvp10 gear and T3 buffs.
8: Minigames are full of premades who will either farm pugs, or leave if they see another premade they think they can't beat. If you join a pug, expect people to start leaving immediately. It's an utter joke and an truly frustrating experience.
9: Sieges remain broken and Funcom continue to advertise them as working content. LIARS MUCH ?
I could list a lot more that is wrong, but those problems are broad and not specific to Fury.
The game is dead as far as pvp is concerned. Funcom have essentially admitted that they are moving towards a pve game. So if you are a pvp'er. Look elsewhere. The most telling sign that pvp is dead are #'s 1-3. The three most massive pvp guilds on the server simply walked away because of Funcom lies, deceit and false promises as well as Bori. Which was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Balance is always in a state of flux. Anyone who pvps a lot in any game can tell you that. Rangers just got hit pretty hard with the nerf bat in the last patch. PoMs are up for buffs, while assassins are up for nerfs. You can always expect that one class will be OP in any game thou (remembers early DKs in Wrath).
Thanks for confirming, i see you play(ed) on Fury too. Heard +- same stuff from a buddy of mine which is probably the most hardcore necro on server (WizzyWizz). If even he's complaining after 30000 kills - i know it's time to stay away )
Oh well, i could live with flawed sieges and some other stuff but cheats really kill it for me. I hated all the epic gear for making too much difference - always like AOC to be skill based with some minor (+5-10%) bonuses from gear/guild etc, but when you don't know if you're fighting cheater that have like 50% advantage.. Well, maybe they'll fix it some day...
And i can't see how preserving cheaters allow em to keep subscribers - i'm certainly won't play when there are cheaters around, many ppl i know too...
As for moving to PVE - this is most stupid decision. AOC's combat mechanics do not suit nor it attract grind lovers who like auto-attack/auto target and watch their toon killing poorly animated foes
Too bad - AOC was the only PVP game with such advanced combat system as opposed to rest of the stupidity. I just hope they abandoned AOC to correct all the mistakes in Secret World which they position as PVP heavily oriented ...
I play on Aquilonia instead of Fury and I can't say that any of the points beside the class balance is really an issue there what leads me to the belief that the replies partly were mentioned by one of those (understandably) disappointed Fury players that bash the game because of Bori.
I'm a very casual PVPer without a premade, made it to PVP level 5 without ever really farming Bori within 2 months and I really can't say that I've ever stumbled about any obvious cheat/exploiting. Sure there is comboskipping but even that I wouldn't rate as a major thing with the advantage of it not being overly strong and the comboskip now and then actually going terribly wrong for people.
Like it was mentioned the balance is work in progress and the really bad being overpowered of Rangers was changed with the last patch. Assassins owning mages is true but then Funcom always mentioned that they won't balance for the sake of 1 vs 1 scenarios anyway. Mages still are very high on the results table in minigames if they know their class at least a bit.
I disagree that there is a real difference. If anything then I as a carebear PVP should get slaughtered and owned by those hardcore players all the time but I simply am not. I do not mean to defend AoC claiming it would have awesome PVP since I too admit it has its obvious flaws but it by far isn't as bad as it was stated here at least not on my server. If I can make a stand in the minis and succeed with positive stats in the end then there can't be any really major balance or cheating issues since I really am not that skilled.

AQ and Fury simply cannot be compared. Alex was asking specifically about Fury. I already stated the facts about Fury, and I am sure that AQ is completely different in at least one respect. The cheating. There is a piece of code that is available to many Fury players that is essentially like having a god-mode button. This code was written by an extremely clever guy, and is widespread amongst the community.
Sadly it would be nigh on impossible for any new or returning player to compete on Fury. If their main aim was to excel in pvp. The amount of exploiting that has taken place across various Khitai instances is quite astonishing. If you take these exploited AA's, then throw in the pvp levels gained by digging rocks, the gear and the BK buffs. Then add into the mix that your opponent(s) may very well have access to a god-mode button, the situation becomes even worse.
I would reiterate what I have stated on many occasions regarding AoC. As a pve game, if that's your thing it is very good, and there are lots of things to do. As for pvp, well we don't need to flog that departed horse anymore. AoC as a pvp centric game is quite frankly dead. Funcom killed their own baby.
I provide a link HERE if you are interested to see what kind of frustration is felt by Furians regarding the state of pvp. This post of course brought out the cursory permanent banstick from Funcom for the poster. Such a shame that they don't hand out bans to cheaters with such gusto. They (Funcom) much prefer to allow cheating to take place and retain the cheats subscription, rather than protect the honest community and ban them.

What the poster said about Fury is pretty much how it is on Cimmeria.
PvP is a joke. Players somehow hit you with the damage of a completed combo but with one hit while running around.
People maxed their AA's in weeks due to exploits that the devs knew about but never did a roll back of a ban. There's currently an exploit going on now that just about everyone is doing as if it were intended.
The game is now even more guided then before. Everything you do has a token attached to it, which is attached to a certain set of gear. Forcing you to play the game a specific way.
I used to like this game and quit a year ago for financial and personal reasons. I came back this summer for the expansion. The actual content aka 6 man raids in the expansion are awesome...but as stated above the game devolved into worse condition then it was before i left.
Another thing that makes PvP unfun is CC's. As soon as you're out of one, you get cc'ed again. It's ridiculous the amount of ccs available for pvp. And some of their durration is just mind blowing. Nobody wants to run around with their arms flailing around or get stuck every other 60 seconds. They fricking want to play the game.
I now log on everyday tired of doing 6 mans or faction quests. I try to mini game but drop out early or get farmed by a AA maxed out premade who maybe half the players use a 3rd party software.
I like the PvE but the level 80 dungeons are worthless because nobody runs them. People do DMC grinds to get from the 70s to the 80s. The raids are cool but the gear is bland looking. From T1-T3 each set looks exactly the same except for an added shoulder pad or just more detail.
I also came back to a guild i was with from prelaunch that got torn apart by server drama routing from so called allies and them not wanting too many people in lame ass Bori.
I have 18% pvp xp before i hit pvp level 5. I think "what happens when i get there" Then i think again "Probably quit"
So why bother even playing anymore.
This game was way more fun before PvP gear. PvP gear is a lame developers idea of PvP content, it creates an incentive for players to contintuously PvP without any type of content like RvR or perfected sieges. It also brings the worst out of players because they will and do anything for that extra xp to get that extra edge including ganging up and killing all lowbies at the entrance zone in at white sands over and over until they get 1xp for the kill among using 3rd party software.
I wonder how many people loved this game but ended up hitting the cancel button because of how stupid and pointless unbalanced and unfun pvp is.
@Toolfan and Catriona - Just curious, is this god mode hack responsible for the people that seem to auto-log out when close to death? I can't count how many times I would be attacking someone and then poof, they vanish. And it wasn't their totem either, because they literally disappeared when I was hitting them.
Was just curious, because again it happened a lot..and no one can minimze their game and End Process that quickly!
I'm not sure. I have heard of though people just vanishing from combat. It's happened to me also. I've also had an assassin pop out of stealth right facing me and at the same time pop me out of stealth with an attack. The messed up part is...I was stealthed. So he had to be tracking me which is a rangers skill now an assassin's.
If it were a mini game or bori then it could be a hack. In the open world a player just vanishing could just be that they got zoned into a mini game.
Also I've never looked into 3rd party hacking software to know if it's the same code. And I try not to talk to people about it. Maybe I'm afraid to found out how many people use it.

I am quite certain that the cases of players simply disappearing in the middle of PvP or whatever is due to a minigame finally popping for them. I can think of more than one occasion when I've ambushed someone in PvP only to have the 30 second timer pop up on my screen and start counting down my chance to join in on the next minigame. If I'm unable to finish my opponent off before that time reaches near 00:00, I'll hit the accept button and vanish off into the minigame instance, presumably leaving my opponent to wonder where the hell I've gone.
If there are cheats in AoC, then I have yet to encounter them (or the cheat wasn't blatant enough for me to notice/care). I did not realize that there was a way to simply skip combos, so I'm not sure how prevalent this exploit is, but I will start paying attention for it from now on.
Riiiight, there is this piece of code writtenby this extremely clever guy who you happen to know thats why you knew what it could do and it is only spread out under the Fury server players who how somehow manage to keep it all to Fury players........uhuh...sure..

Bitter doesn't come close. Funcom operate a strict truth embargo. I find this intolerable. People need to be given the facts. Nothing I have said regarding pvp in aoc is inaccurate. In fact I said a year or more ago exactly what would happen regarding pvp. Sadly, I was 100% correct.

But why dwell on it ? The game is PvE focused with PvP servers available fo those that prefer it that never has been a secret.So in the end the PvP part of the game never gets priority.Some games are way more PvP focused then AoC like Eve-online for instance ,Eve is harsh but good and a well designed and balanced game imo.
I'd say stop dwelling on this one game and move on there is no point in having this crusade against it as most ppl will only feel anoyed by it. as in the case of AoC and most other MMO's out there the majority of players are into PvE so the majority will disagree with you constantly and feel anoyed by the constant attacks you make over a game you dont even play anymore.I cant imagine it make you yourself any happier does it ? I'd say in your case (and i mean that in a friendly way) move on and forget about it i mean , why not ? There are tons of other MMO's out there to at least try out and the ones you dont like you leave behind you witouth spending a eternity hating it,its not healthy.

I dont know if you ever tried Aion but the PvP system was very solid even before the update.Everybody in Aion gets into contact with PvP (wether they like it or not
) and IS a main focus in the game.The new update took alot of the grind out if aswell and working to get PvP abyss gear was addicting,no matter hwat ppl say about it or the shortcommings it had before the expansion i had a blast with it in PvP.Or Eve-online ofcourse ,maybe GW2 when it releases!

I do not like the fact that they obtained monies from me via deceit. I do not like the fact that they lied in my face. I do not like the fact that they allow cheating to take place. I do not like the fact that the GD accused every one of we Furians of being instrumental or at least complicit in crashing sieges. I certainly do not like the fact that they operate a truth embargo at Funcom, whilst still telling lies to people about the "improved sieges."
So if someone asks me about the state of the game regarding pvp and specifically on Fury server, as was asked here. I will tell the whole ugly truth about Funcom. Had they asked "what's pve like in aoc." I would have told them it's great if that's your thing. Craig Morrison may be comfortable being a liar. I am not. Nothing I said regarding pvp and sieges on Fury was untrue. Everything was fact. Call it a crusade if you want. I call it being truthful.

I know longer play AoC. Just ended my account lasts month, I have a level 63 ranger pvp rank three and necro level 74 pvp rank four (with hard work for them ranks vs cheaters) Rangers own most cheaters by default. The reason I left is because of the instant combo shit that nearly instant kill my Necro, one vs one I still own them cheaters thanks to having two fears and a shit load of cc+ minions+ healing+ great damage out put from being a frost necro. Sins get own, Con get own, BS get own even with that cheating shit and with my Ranger, it is all but Barbs and Guards. Now Barbs use that instant combo shit allot added with there cc and stuns would own most in three seconds because of that instant combo shit granted with insane damage and Guards just get and insane group buff by way of using one or many multi accounts hidden near them that makes them nearly immue to damage "GODLY"
Now before I left I notice a slight increase of the most less played class in game, the Dark Templar... Huh? Yeah wtf, come to find out they are the number one class for instant combo shit combine with circle strafing would havoc any class in seconds!!! when I seen that shit it shocked me... I ask and asked how the hell is you all so powerful with a DT? and the answer I got was ( Dark templars are made for instant combo, they are the best class to use for it) and so DT became the number one played for people that know instant combo.
You can do instant combos, with any combo using class, if you have a G11 or G15 keyboard.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned this, it is common knowledge, and is more than likely exactly how players are performing instant combos. Not because of some piece of hacking software.
Since the recent nerf Rangers and assassins are NOT overpowered. I have soloed both with my Barb on many occasions.
AoC PVP is a blast. AoC is the best MMO out and the only (besides EVE) that does NOT feel like a kids game.
P.S. there is plenty pvp on pve servers, just not 24 hour pointless gankfests. This is why Wicanna is so much more populated then Tyranny and Cimmeria.
PvP will always be a cheater's playground in these games, especially the more they move away from turn based combat and even worse when they add things like aiming. Don't go far, just look at the other 2 games launched at about the same period with AoC: WAR, Darkfall... They pretty much suffer from the same problem.
And before go blaming the company, let me tell you a couple of things. Some things are really hard to track on a client<->server basis. Things like global cooldown, collision detection, character's movement speed, aiming, line of sight and maybe even range checks. It's not that they can't do a couple more checks on the servers - they can, but these specific checks generally add a lot of load on the servers.
I am coming from WAR, pretty digusted of cheaters there, and even before reading this thread here, i had decided to not bother with PvP in AoC at all (i am downloading the game right now). I am just interested in its PvE. I 'll only bother with PvP again if it's a game like checkers or something.

Correct.there is no piece of software there is no ultrra smart code,Heck tyou dont even need a G11G15 or anyother macro keyboard.You can do it simply by using your keys in a certain way.Macro'ing it is easier ofcourse so i guess that whenever someone has a macro script for combo's that they have this "super smart piece of software"

No software or macro's are needed to combo skip but you need some practise to do it witouth macros,its very very similar to the mechanics of bunnyhopping in counterstrike actually.
