The game was already good, now it s just sounding great. If you played FFXI, you would know how much content and fixes they implemented without changing the games core. I want FFXIV to have a solo part, but what made XI so good was having to work well with others. I can see my wife and I playing this game for many years to come.

Brilliant post, OP and awesome thread so far.  I'm very excited to hear about these tweaks and growing more and more excited for Release.

I had a feeling this OB was really more of a test than we all thought it was, and it looks like it really was!  CE still firmly on preorder.   I just can't wait  until after the first 30 days of Live play for the community to really start coming together...once the player base starts paying.

Oh It's going to be goooood. :)

Cheers again for the great thread!!

And people who cancel their pre-orders due to a clearly poor overall design, UI from 10 years ago, etc, etc are thinking very logically and saving their money towards a MMO that is worth putting money into...

    :-)

    In their opinion. :D

Absolutely!   If you enjoy a game clearly intended for a console being pushed onto your PC, more power to you!!

I (and apparently many others) am not interested in such a game.  I personally play MMOs on my PC because I actually like to use the capabilities of my keyboard and mouse.  I don't find the game to be particularly entertaining (played both alpha and beta, I did have the game on pre-order, so please don't try to tell me I didn't give it a chance)...and once I got by the pretty graphics, I find the game to be lacking overall.  All my opinion.  But my opinion is just as valid as anyone's opinion overall...and much more important in how I choose to spend my money...  :-)

Not to mention that FF 14 feels like a huge step back in the MMORPG genre. Its slow paced, the combat is verry turn based (makes sence for a FF game though)but they try to make it look real time but you still have to wait till you can strike again.

People saying you can't judge the game based on the beta...should i remind these people that in MMORPG's the latest beta is mostly not that far from the end result? Once a MMORPG is released they really start to change games, add more content fix what ever remaining bugs from the beta are left, etc. FF 14 will be released next week or so i believe. Im in the beta and i doubt the game will change much from this point on.

I been reading a preview where they nailed it right...FF14 feels like a game that is far from done and need allot more work before it should be released..and i agree on that. Many things are still to confusing and to slow paced for the pc gamer. Maybe for the final fantasy fans this is a good thing but any other gamer will probally stay away from this game cause its to slow paced and those who are real fans probally buy it on the PS3 as the game is intended too. THe PC version is still the same as the PS3 version and you notice that allot.

I do love the graphics of the characters, but the world on the other hand looks uninspiring and boring even. I really hope the retail version will be much better and more improved than the beta otherwise i don't think many people in the western countries will play this game after one month. Especially not now that MMORPG's tend to speed gameplay up with more real time combat, something the west been shouting for years about. However for those who do like a more turn based aproach this game probally will be great. I really hope it improves but for me personally it laks to much, there is not much room to RP in cause its a console game no mather what, there is no PvP and i didn't really see a open world, i just seen a map with paths all over it but not really a huge open world to explore freely..maybe im wrong there though, i never got that far cause i found the pace way to slow for its own good.

Looks like that is all the info.  There may be some details but most of the updates are there in my 2nd post or in the link to FFXIV core or in the other thread titled pre launch event.

By passing a certain condition, "class quests" will become available at guilds. Class quests are of course related directly to the class itself, but at the same time are a way to truly learn the details of each city-state. Please enjoy the story revealed in these quests, in addition to the quest rewards themselves.

When you complete a quest, you will receive Guild Tokens [marks?]. We are planning to add more and more things to exchange tokens for.

We will be adding not just normal guildleves, but a wide variety of types of guildleves. First, there will be higher level guildleves. Among those, many will have more variance in the rules/goals as well as being able to fight with more varied monsters in many more target areas. In particular, we heard many comments of "I want to fight more and more NMs!" so we want to respond to that quickly. Also, the faction leves that were in the Open Beta are designed to be a somewhat "different taste" from regular leves, with hidden starting conditions or npcs. The rewards for these are fairly good, so please try them out! Finally, we are going to be steadily adding more and more leves that encourage coordination between all the classes including gathering/crafting/magic/war. Please look forward to it!
