Don't email them. They take 1-3 days to get back to you. When they do they will often have you supply a lot more information and then get back to you. Please if you want to play the game find a way to call them. There won't be a wait and they can fix your problem right there.
If you run the normal and the test pulls up, then try running the test?
Here is what I want to know. When I load up the game I have a selection of servers. If I pick to run pendragon (the test server) on the normal client it says I need to run the test client. If I am running the test client and I pick a normal server it says I need to run the normal one.
So what I want to know is what is it telling you all that are having this problem?
Trail accounts are supposed to be played on any server they want. They want to get them to play for 14 days and then subscribe. This is how it works with the disks, how it is working for most people do this current trail. So either people are doing something wrong, or it is bugged.
And to force people onto the test server with almost no population is not the best way to attract new players
Originally posted by JulianDracos Are they any other options to pay - yes you can use a debit card. Anyone that can get a bank account - evan saving account - can usually get one. Also you have prepaid CC you can buy. Lastly they have a pay by cash option. You can check their site for details, but I think it is something like paybuycash.com You send the money and once they do you can play the game. This last option I would not really recomend for the free trial of the game.
How can I set up an account with a Debit Card? It asks for a CC - Visa, MC, or AX. I can't get past this part of the account set up without a CC.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see it is an option in the paybycash website. However, only available to US residents so that means uninstall
1. I have known people that have done the trial accounts and they have access to all the servers.
2. If you want people to play the game they need to like the game. So why stick them on the test server where they TEST the new patch with only 100 people on it? They will have no help, no one to group with, no guilds to join, etc. What they want are thsounds of people to flood the other servers, find groups, play the game, get into guilds so that they won't cancel before the 14 days are up.
If they were giving the game away for free and no requring a CC then it would make sense. However, since they take the CC info and want them to continue playing and paying they want them on the regular servers.
Originally posted by Nored Ok, the point about only accessing is a bug then, or those people that can access all servers are having a bugged file, in their advantage.
But once again, I disagree with your 2nd point. A trial is meant to give a short look at the game, in this case, it gives you 14 days free playtime. Other games offer the first (few) level(s) as a trial. A trial is not meant to enjoy people, but only to give a shot at the game. Enjoying can come after the trial if you bought the game.
And they're asking a CC, but they don't take money of it, only when you play longer then the 14 days ... maybe you can access all servers then.
Greetings,
Nored
The bill you if you do not cancel - not if you continue playing after 14 days. If they limited everyone to Pendragon for 14 days this means you wasted 14 days playing on a server where you will most likely not stay. It is not as though you can say "start billing me now" so that I can go play on the other servers.
MMORPG are different than other games. The other ones want you to buy the game, DAOC wants you to pay to play it. You can tease someone with a level, but you cannot do that in an mmorpg. It is such a different game that you would need to play the actual game, not just part of it, if you want people to subscribe. You need to enjoy the game if you are going to stay with it, right? What enjoyment are you going to have in a social game where you cannot socialize? What fun would you have playing on a server that is meant to find bugs? What fun would you have knowing that after spending 14 days in the game you have to start over on another server if you want to play with other people?
If an mmorpg only limited people to a tiny test server when they are wanting people to subscribe then they are shooting themselves in the foot. Almost no one would subscribe and you wasted all of that time and money.
Ok, there's a high chance that I will not pay after my 14-day trial and it's because of the community. Don't get me wrong by saying that it's great, but it's SMALL! The chances are so rare that you'll find somebody to group with and that. Low lvl RvR battles are empty of people too.
ive really enjoyed playing the test server and have met some nice people, but if at the endd of the 14 days i have to start again, and pay for the pleasure then they can forget it
Just signed up here, and I've downloaded and installed the DAOC 14 day trial, but I'm not sure if I want to use my card, I have a few questions:
Can you cancel before the trial runs out? Making it actually a "free" trial? If not, is it easy to cancel after your first month of payment incase I don't like the game? Why not just buy the game at wal-mart or somewhere and get a month free?

After you create your account and you will login. Go make a character and then leave the game. Log back into the game, but make sure you do not have a character selected so you will go to the server screen. There will be an option to edit billing. Select that and cancel your subscription. You will then have 14 days to play at which time your account will be closed unless you reopen it and allow them to charge you.
Why do this instead of buy the game? You can pick up the Platnium edition for $20. So you get the game and once month worth of game time for that amount. Or you can play the game for free for two weeks. Tha main question you will need to ask yourself is if $20 is worth two extra weeks to play?
There are other reasons I can give for buying the game. The platnium edition will contain everything up to the latest expansion. If you just use the trial and you want the expansion you will then need to buy them. The trial is for the original game and the first expansion. So you would need to buy the second expansion. This can be very hard to find and often runs the same cost as if you were to buy the Platnium edition.
If $20 is not something you would miss I think it would be better to go ahead and buy the game. You get a longer playing time, you won't have the issues some people are having, and you will be set to go if you keep playing the game. You will then simply need to decide if you want the new content of the new expansion or not. If you are very skeptical about the game go for the trial, if you are more sure you will like the game or want to give it a good 2-3 month test then you should go buy the game.

DAoC is initially released by players who are unhappy with EQ and see quite a few features adapted to cover a few frustrating issues in EQ. WoW is inspired of both EQ and DAoC, try to simplify both and make it ''appealing'' or whatever you wanna call it.
EQ, DAoC, WoW...all are enforcing a lame gameplay on players(raiding or raiding inside a PvP zone)...
So your statement would be like if peoples in Alabama would say: We think that peoples living in Georgia are bad and are happy they dont live in Alabama.

You can go to Best Buy or Target and buy game cards to play EQ and WoW. You cannot do that with DAOC. So you statement that they require a credit card is false. They accept credit cards, but certainly they do not require them.
DAOC was not released by players who were "unhappy" with DAOC. There are certainly people who have worked on the game that played EQ. Mythic entertainment, however, was around prior to DAOC and had already put out some games and did a MUD. So your characterization that this was simply a group of people who said we do not like EQ so lets build a game is false.
I remember my favorite review of DAOC - it fixed everything that was wrong with EQ. It is not as though they started from scratch, even EQ didn't, what they did was combine the elements of their MUD for PvP combat and then fix all the crap that was wrong with EQ. Then with their first expansion did something no other gaming company did up to that point - they updated the graphics for the entire game! Afterwards EQ did the same. And it wasn't just a few issues with DAOC. They removed the general chat, they put in a looking for group option, different classes, three realms, an easier user interface, you cannot loose levels when you die, they made PvP combat - RvR a central feature of the game, they did not adopt play nice rules, they have kept the max level at 50 and never increased it, you can make your own armor and weapons and they are the best in the game, you can dye your own equipment, guilds/alliances do not dictate game design and policy, I could go on but my point is that these look similar on the surface but are very different games. The amount of changes add up to be some significant changes. The first wave of players to DAOC came from EQ, but the player base now is substantially different than the player base for EQ.
WoW is built off of EQ and DAOC. WoW does not have PvP zones yet all they have are PvP servers. As for EQ, better check your facts again because it is not a PvP game. There are no keeps for players to fight over. You can choose to be PK, but that is it. It means nothing at all in EQ. Lastly, neither WoW or DAOC forces people to go on Raids. You can spend the entire time in PvE zones if you wish.

I am on a cluster and the last time I looked there were about 40 people under 20. On my actual server we get around 1000 people, the cluster will get to around 2800 or so. On my realm in the cluster it would be around 700. Most of the players in this game are albs.
So it is either your time you play, server, or realm. You can move to a more populated server or realm if the lack of people bothers you. If your server isn't tiny then I would suggest you hurry up and get to 20 because then you should find a lot more people around.
I play on Merlin server, it has the most of population, but at low lvls you don't see anyone really. This is the problem, the game is pretty old now and all you see are ppl lvl 30-50 and sometimes 20, since once someone hits lvl 50 then their new character can start off at lvl 20.

Never played on Merlin so I would not know. It might be the time that you are playing as well.
It is not because of the free level 20. That is a common mistake. It is because the game is old. That fact hurt attracting new players and DAOC really waited too long to try some ideas of getting new blood in. Trust me prior to level 20 you have people playing few characters because they did not want to level up. This was fixed in one of the more recent patches. Try it now and it should work. At least I hope it will. Mythic has been having a couple problems with this kind of stuff with the clusters and all but in the long run i think it has deffinetly been worth it. (plz be forgiving of the spelling)
