I have a question. I want to and cant wait to play FF14. But I dont understand something. If SE is using "tiles" then why didnt they make more "tile" types, not to say there isnt already a lot. But if its the process of having the data on a tile that can be easily drawn from files and produced on the screen, why does that stop SE from making more varied tiles. It doesnt does it? I mean the whole copy and paste thing, doesnt that still apply?
Could SE not have made more varied "tiles" and had them scattered around the environment, and then as you go from one tile to the next it loads, thats how it works right?
What am I not understanding?
I love snails. I love every kinda snail. I just want to hug them all, but I cant. Cant hug every snail.

Is about Memory. If you have 100 objects to load at once the load is obviously higer than if you have 50 objects , tweaked around enough to look diferent.
Go watch the "Making a realm" video when they talk about the diferent sets of armor, they explain it pretty well there.
Is explained perfectly there, and the same aplys to the landscapes that people call copy/pasted. If they wished to they could easily make few tweaks and doesnt look the same anymore. Is easy to work with the same model and its less load on your system.
Problem is imo they didnt have the time to do it, but its not imposible that they could tweak this thins a bit more post release.I personally dont care about this, i find anyone who thinks this is a big deal an perfectionist maniac.
I think what ur saying is, in order to "load the whole environment" its easier if there is lots of similar tiles in the environment that are using alot of the same data, so that the amount of memory being used is less because its using the same stuff in the cache over and over. I think I get it. SE needed the data used to be as similar as possible to reduce the memory footprint,
ultimately i think they did a good job of moving and tweeking the stuff around, so that unless you are looking for it, liike that dbag on youtube who runs in cricles and turns around, you cannot tell.

More or les,
Still just wach the video they really put it up very clear why and how there lol.
Funy this video was up ages before chouji came making such a fuz somethin they already have explained ages ago.
The eye can only register around 30 FPS. Movies are shot at around 29.97 FPS or so. The more you know. Yay, randomness.
Off topic but I can't help myself, that's actually a common misconception, the eye CAN register more than 30 fps, some studies actually suggest that the eye can process more than 200 fps, I think I remember reading one from the US Airforce claiming something like 220 fps.
No need to repeat what has already been written. ; )
You can add this picture to your copy and paste arsenal. GOD is a lazy f*** isn't he?
Clever.
I guess as long as it's SE, you don't care what you're money's buying. As long as you can play as a female cat person.
That just sounds like malice and contempt for SE.

L M F A O !
While this is unfortunate as far as immersion goes, it ultimately is a decision based on hardware limitations. I really don't find this to be a game breaking issue. It's about as annoying as tiling in Oblivion. That is to say, not very.

I don't really want to promise this, because I can't be certain, but considerign the beta client is only about a third of the size of the release client, it's entirely possible that the cuting and pasting we're seeing in the beta is actually just to cut down on space of the beta client.
If so, that would be tragic, because all this effort ot point out Square-Enix was a bunch of lazy muthers for having reused assets (which is hardly an unusual industry practice to be found in any game with big, sprawling worlds) would have end up being misplaced in the end. Lots of poor smucks out there would never had had a chance to enjoy the game because they believed someone spazzing out about it in beta.
Actually, I guess not too many people would be affected. I wager at least 95% of the people that spaz out about it are haters of the game anyway and are just looking for something solid they can pin their malace on.

Not to sure what the full version will bring, more mobs, npcs, quests and storyline for 3 seperate areas. Not onyl that but you would have to assume that there will be a bunch of bug fixes from all 3 phases included as well. aslo its not uncommon to have content included for later use down the line. Similar to those DLC that are only 12mb big but unlock 3 hours of extra content.
This Beta could very well be 85% of what we see come launch.

I did not play the beta, but I basically listened to ambient SFX/ music while talking to my brother for a few days on skype.
It was a total deal-maker, everyone keeps on begging me to try the beta, but I'm like, meh , just go all out when the game launches live next week.
Where is my controller???
