We have a few people who have toons already but I think it is best to start at level 1 in the starter island.
I think we should start working out classes and post names as soon as possible.
Lastly, do we want to meet twice a week or just once. I am ok with whatever works with everyone else.
I think we will need at least one tank and one healer. I am willing to do either one or neither.
Let's do it to it.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”
PM me here or friend me ingame (Caligu) on Telon. I can do any night a few nights a week for 2-4 hours, the only problem is it would be very hard for me to start before 9PM EST.
There is a good chance we can move it back to 9 EST. Right now it is 8:30 but I think we can move it back a half hour.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. I think we need twice a week to progress at a decent pace through the content, and a plan for each session so we can maximize our limited playtime with the group, perhaps even pre-determining where we will adventure and all meet there instead of spending time traveling. Just a thought.
I will probably continue to play my cleric on off days so I woul dlike to be either a DK to tank or a bard, I hear really nice things about bards ability to enhance a group.
Probably going to make one of each tonight and play a few levels just to get a feel for which feels better.
I'm up for trying twice a week, offering this caveat: IF it's difficult to get a variety of people to meet up one day a week, it'll be even harder to get them to meet twice a week.
This is where my old group got the idea about how keeping the players together is more important than keeping the characters together. I experienced first hand a player getting pissed off because the group wasn't progressing fast enough for him. He actually ended up quitting our group because "got bored waiting around for us all the time."
My rule is that real life comes first and I will never give a fellow player greif for not being able to make it for a session.
We should welcome and encourage alternates, crafting, diplomacy, splinter groups, etc. And above that we should all have most of our characters on each other's friends lists. I guarantee that if I am soloing somewhere and a friend pops online, I will drop what I'm doing and join him or her. There's no such thing (for me) as... "I'm playing my level 30 dread knight right now, hurry and catch up so we can group." I don't think that will work in Vanguard. I'm here to play with people. If it's once a week, great. If it's twice a week? Amazing. If I actually group with the same people consistently for a period of time, the purpose for playing MMOs will be fulfilled.
That's the core idea: keeping the players together.
I have a good feeling about this. Let's go for it.

Glad to see this working out so well. I just reactivated my account last night. I don't see anyone clamoring to be a tank, and I love being a tank, so I'll create a warrior tonight and post or PM his name later.
Thanks for taking the tanking class.
Here is the list I have it narrowed down too
Healers: Disciple or Bloodmage
DPS: Sorcerors, Psionicists, Druids
It looks like we have a Warrior so what does everyone else want to be?

I agree with this.
I think we can work out the other day on our first play session. I am good with one or two days a week.

Very cool. I am in. I would like to play a DPS (Ranger) if possible.
This game has always fascinated me but I can never find a regular group of folks to play with. If a Ranger isn't cool I will go with something else a little more supportive. As I am not too versed on all the class capabilities (highest I have is a 33 rogue and I played him at release) I would not really know what classes are better in a group environment but would be willing to play just about anything. Looks like the tank and healer roles are filled so I will DPS or support.
It's gotten to the point where some MMOs have been reduced to little more than success dispensers. Don't think. Don't challenge yourself. Do as little as possible... but still be rewarded for it. Yeah.. *that's* fun.
The Disciple is an amazing class in both design and play. Nothing like ninja kicking bad guys to make the good guys feel better. Hahah

I have played the Disciple before and really enjoyed it. I kind of want to try the BM but it depends on what other people.

I'd love to join. I'd enjoy rolling a Monk or BM depending on what the group prefers.
so far all we have is a Warrior and what I play. If you want to play something state it.
I think we can work everything out. If you want to play a BM that is cool. You can never have to much healing. I could still play a Disciple if I wanted.
I know we have a few people interested in ranged DPS. I do not think anyone has shown in any interest in Melee DPS yet so a Monk might be nice. I have never been a fan of the Monk class so you will get no competition from me.

I made a Bloodmage and am ready to roll on the 5th.
So far we have
Bloodmage
Disciple
Warrior
Ranger
I am going to make a Sorcerer too just in case.
Anyone else who wants in please pick a class now and make the toon so we will be ready when we start on the 5th.

So what characters are needed with this group? I can do anything. I was originally thinking of a tank class, but is that not needed? Otherwise maybe a Druid, or I have been having fun with my psionist, I could re-roll another one.
OK Monk it is for me. I'll let you know the character name when I create it. Also I can only play till 11pm due to work. If that's a problem just let me know.

If you like the Psi I would go with that. They can lock down several mobs at once with CC and the phantom pet thing. On top of that they have some of the best caster support buffs that I know of. At least at level 25.

Alright, MMOman, what do you have total for players/classes so far?
If you have a full group, I can sit this out. I have a 50 Goblin Disciple and a 50 Halfling Ranger already. I have not played VG in several months, but I would like to get back into it, especially with a dedicated group. As I said before though, if your group is full, I can opt out of this and just help your crew whenever you need a high level to come through to bash heads, and rez a wiped group.
And some people sayd this game was dead.....i started playing it (again) 2 weeks ago and i am having a blast......fun to play, good community and not TOO many bugs.
Most of the times i play solo for now.....crafting and diplomacy but if you guys are all making new chars just let me know if you need one more for the group....i'll be glad to make a class that is needed
Vanguard seems to be getting a stable game these days.....not as crowded as wow is, but this game isnt dead by far.
SOE should put more budget in this one.......it COULD be huge
which would be a full group, however, there are still 4 more people who have showed interest but been less vocal. If we go over 6 we can always make two groups wich would allow us to deal with attrition better. We alreadt have two healers so picking up another tank would make this work.
If people still want to jump in please do because 2 groups of 4 is fine too. I am bit surprised how many people want in on this. Along the same lines though I am not sure that we will keep everyone that has signed up for more than a few months. The people we have the longer we will be able to keep this going.
Please, please, please.........if you want to get in on this jump in now.

i think we have a start time of 8:30 EST so that would be two and a half hours. I am ok with that. I thought 2-4 hours would be fine and closer to two would be best. We should be able to complete most things in two and half hours.

I might hold off on the psi for now, and try something new. I can always switch to my lvl 15 psi when we get to that level. Now I am thinking about a rogue, agh, to many good choices.
BTW, what about a group of 4 or 5 psi's. I can just imagine masses of mobs fighting eachother, while everyone just sits backs and watches. Maybe with a rogue running around backstabbing. Anyway, I digress.
