About the time this game came out, I was too young to care much about playing games heavy into storyline so my older brother just played it for a while and beat it. I might have started playing it once, but just like Dragon Warrior I/IV, I never got far and mostly just watched him play it. Still, was an awesome game from what I saw of it.

Graphics are bad? The game is about 8 years old lol. It's the best RPG game ever made I think, but it wasn't hard at all expect the weapons. Last boss was beated so easily with Cloud's Omnislash and with Cid's last limit break.

Yeah your right. It is 8 years old.
AND it IS the best RPG ever made.

But %^*&$ the thing is getting old.
Be tight if the made a Final Fantasy VII - 2
    like FFX-2.

From my eyes the game was rather rough. I skipped over having the game guide, and www.gamefaqs.com unless it came to Chocobos.

I spent 99+ hours on this game, I still play it every once in a great while. The best thing about this is that Square Enix now wants to create a spin-off of the game. Instead of Clouds tale, it's now Vincents turn.
    (which i'm rather interested in)

Also, they are creating a movie titled; Advent-Children. You should google and read up, good stuff if you ask me.

Now, what the good rumor is that Square Enix might re-design the game engine for the Next Generation Consoles. Hold on to your pants and grab some depends children::::28::

IMO ff7 is one o the greatest rpg's ever made, i lost count after i went through it the 8'th time, ye i might b sick, and ye i might have had to much time.. But hey, it was the first time a rpg ever made me cry, its got a great storyline ( best ff storyline as of yet IMO ), and u cant help loving the characters.

Remember my first time getting through it, after pounding Sephirot for 4 long hours ( yes i didnt lvl max out and yes i also shorten the time the next times i went through it ), and seeing the credits, waiting till it alll ended just sitting there watching, hoping there would b more, and yes there was.. Still get goosebumps just thinking about it.. guess its about time to blow some dust off that old game and give it another go..

You cant make a perfect game better, but by all meens please try, im hungry for more..

    FF7 is a good game...

But it's overrated; most definitely not the best RPG ever made.

Not sure about best RPG ever made, its certinaly one of them, but its also the best of all the Final Fantasy's. The storyline was great and kept me attached from beginning to end.

  • ElnatorElnator Member Posts: 6,077

    I never played it
Never played any Final Fantasy title.

As for being the best? Hardly...

The best computer RPG i have ever played is:

    Vampire: Bloodlines

    Next best was:

    Vampire: Redemption

Before that hmm.... Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and KOTORII...

Then I would have to say the Ultima series of games were fantastic RPG's.

Final Fantasy always turned me off with the anime graphics.

my all time favorite is still FF2 for snes. I somewhat liked the PS and PS2 versions, but when I played FFX-2, it was the first FF game that I could not play all the way through because it sucked so bad.

I agree, that was one of the worst games of the PS2 generation.

Vampire: Bloodlines was a great game.

Very nice game though I'd be hesitant to call it the Best Rpg ever. Lots of Rpg's floatin around out there, and a fair portion are real nice. Enjoyed playing it immensely, but it doesn't get my vote for favorite Rpg, or even favorite FF. Both those spots belong to Final Fantasy Tactics.

I beat FF7 14 times and RPed in the "Final Fantasy" realm so to speak for years after that. So needless to say I loved the game...BUT

The best FF, for any real FF fan is Final Fantasy 3. The storyline and presentation value and just the sheer depth of the game was to the SNES what FF7 was for the PSX. It was just the best. If you've played it and don't agree with me, bear with me a moment and try to imagine FF3 (FF6/japan) with graphics on par with todays technology, or FF7's technology if you want to compare the two. Judge it that way and you can see how easily it surpasses any FF to date. For those who have not played it yet -- I'd suggest you do so, the graphics are way outdated yes but if you play RPGs on the GBA it shouldn't be too out of wack for you to stick to.

P.S. D.Cloud check out FF8 and Final Fantasy Tactic for your PSX, both are awesome games. (And don't buy FF9, its the worst of series, even worst than FFX-2 :P)

But as for greatest RPG, not counting FF games? I'd probably say Xenogears. The storyline was almost as contrived as the Matrix storyline, but if you had the taste for it you could definitely cut it apart and see how extremely exremely deep it was. It was one of the most compelling, emotional console RPGs I've ever played. Parasite Eve is also an interesting little RPG, short experience, but intriguing to say the least. Of course im sure no one forgets Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire 3, and Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. All awesome RPGs :D

I miss great console RPGS they don't happen much anymore (traditional, I love the way the BioWare console RPGs turn out, like KOTOR and Jade Empire, but I miss the traditional 'fantasy' type ones [that were actually good, like listed above])
