A Disc World MMORPG would just be awesome (if done right)
If Terry Pratchett wrote the quest dialogue, this would be the one game I wouldn't mind questing in.
Edit: Shadowrun IP is apparantly now owned by Microsoft, we'll have to get them to take their greasy paws off it before anything can be done with it.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
Star Craft, with three factions, not any alliance or exclusion bullshit. You can play as one of the three, and have some good old fashioned PVP, with obvious good PvE as well.
QFE. Still waiting for some developer to get off their ass and get on this IP already, it has a ton of potential for an interesting new MMO. Cyberpunk/fantasy game done AAA would be a refreshing cahnge of pace.
I would like to see some kind of MMO with a sestup like Eragon/Dragon Riders of Pern with a good mix of character based and dragon-mount based content. Not necessarily based off the previously mentioned IP's but with a character/mount based relationship, mounts could even vary from just dragons.
A real space based, sandbox MMO with character and ship/vehicular content on planets and in structures and in space. SKill based character progression/development with player based society/economy/conflict. Make the gameplay action oriented for the combat and related elements with a robust and varied crafting system something of a crosss between SWG and Fallen Earth's crafting system. You can craft basic items like food, drink, healing items (healiong kits, bandages or whatever they would be called), repair kits etc on the go with portable crafting systems but more complex items like weapons/armor and up need to be done at crafting stations/centers.
Dracula. It has all the story, lore and exploreable areas you'll ever need in a mmo.
I dunno that. Amazing book of course but it is basically only London and Draculas castle in it, and not that much of London either.
I think you would have to mix in some other content to get enough for a MMO. A 19th century horror game based on Stoker, Poe, Shelley and so on would be great.
But my number one is Lovecrafts Cthulu mythos (that a non Lovecraft based MMO uses Mythos as a name is just wrong BTW).

A new company, Undead Labs http://undeadlabs.com/, is working on a Zombie MMO. They have a few developers from ArenaNet on their team. ah interesting

I am not sure a few developers but they are headed by Jeff Strain (lead designer of Diablo, Warcraft 3, Wow the first 3 years, Guildwars 1 and 2 (until 2 years ago). He is good and I read some stuff somewhere that sounded very interesting but it sounds like the game only will release on X-box.
There is a rumor that Romero is involved also, dunno if it is true.
Wizardry -- who wouldnt want to start off fighting dandiphoots -- and they have a wide range of races to choose from that are DIFFERENT from what you normally see. Umpani, T'Rang, Rapax, Rattkin, etc. I mean they do have elves for people who go that way.

It's true, it was noted some weeks ago that a few developers of Anet left in peaceful terms to join UL.
I love the more gritty settings that could possibly happen sometime in the near future. CP2020 is probably my favorite setting in any genre period.
It's gotten to the point where some MMOs have been reduced to little more than success dispensers. Don't think. Don't challenge yourself. Do as little as possible... but still be rewarded for it. Yeah.. *that's* fun.
How about Ghost in the Shell. Have a elaborate hacking system and instead of guilds, have different sections. Cyber urban Pvp and detective like PvE. Would be awsome.
I think designing an IP from scratch for an MMO is generally much safer and less full of pitfalls eg WAR etc. Even Lego a very creative ip has been very tricky to bring into the MMO fold.
So any game space that has the player able to change the environment: Space, Online, A planet, Fantasy... created from scratch.
EG: Warhammer and Warhammer 40K are well conceived IP's +25Yrs design and concept but the licensing hobbles/hamstring's them too much.

The Neverhood
Grim Fandango
Myst (done right)
A Boy and His Dog
A Fire Upon the Deep / A Deepness in the Sky
(any wild west mmorpg)

I'd also like to see a samurai/ninja MMO with no magic at all, I used to follow that Tatsumaki game but they seem to progress with turtle pace.
And another one, I'd really love a mech MMO (MMO tho, not arena or lobby based etc., a true one) with humanoid-like mechs.
A song of ice and fire (books by george rr martin)
Firefly
something in medieval europe, make it realistic so no casters etc,
something in the mechwarrior universe (would be hard to do)
for those wanting starcraft they are making warhammer 40k so you get the original starcraft.
Firefly was being worked on, but was officially put on hold in favor of moving forward with a Buffy the Vampire Slayer mmo.
hack/sign mmo.
one piece mmo
dead space co-op (diablo 2 style of co-op)
resident evil mmo ( a real one, not the stuff that came out for playstation 2)
thats all i can think of for now. this thread has been done before though.....
Cyberpunk 2020 and Firefly would be my choice.

Sacrifice (not really big, but nice story, can easily combine themeparkness and sandboxness, something I really want)
Legend of Dragoon (ok dorky story, but loved it)
Spyro (for kids, based on old games not crappy new ones)
Toy Story (or just some toy based one)
Transall Saga (or something about time travel)
Black and White (easily can see as a sandboxy mmo)
Gulliver's Travels
Wizard of Oz
-I want a Platformer MMO

Survival horror MMO...
Jack Vance's work (though I'd hate to see it ruined).
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
