NO MORE! as Colin (The lead designer of GW2) says, "if a character tells you ogres are coming to destroy a house, they will really come and smash down the house if you don't stop them!" events such as these will keep you playing for hours on end, and make you wonder why you ever bother with the trolls picking daisies in WoW and major MMOs.

Clearly the man can rebuilt his house. The daisies will not simply regrow it will die, SAVE THE DAISIES AND PLAY WOW....

The lady and her 9 year old daughter from next door who are avid WoW players have stated that GW2 will be too hard for them to play.

read the title. its a rant. random talking about a random subject in which i am entitled to my opinion. I really shouldn't have to worry about trolling every time i post that something is better than WoW or w.e

Posting that game X will kill game Y and/or Z is trolling and as a result will get troll responses.

No one with intelligence can honestly say that they truly think GW2 will bring down WoW. It isn't possible to say that and be truthful that you think that because it is such a ridiculous thought process. I hate WoW, I truly do. But GW2 isn't going to release and take 6-7 million of WoW's players, it will NEVER HAPPEN.

So to see a new ridiculous post every single day about how GW2 will kill all MMOs!!!1!!!!11 is just irritating and trolling the user of MMORPG.

Most people would not troll you if you said "I like GW2, I plan on playing it, here is what I think is good..." But to come out with a ridiculously idiotic statement like "GW2 will kill all other MMOs" is going to result in people not thinking highly of you and making comments to that point.

I think we need to send SnarlingWolf back to Jon Woods' thread about reading comprehension.  Never once did he say that GW2 would bring down WoW.  He did make a comparison to how the FUTURE of the industry will be copying GW2 like the current industry is hell-bent on copying WoW--and anyone with any sense of the overall MMO market already know this to be true, there are games in production that are having a copypasta fest with the GW2 content model.

Next, he stated that, "Guild Wars 2 blows all games (including WoW) out of the water."  Thats an opinion relating to percieved personal value of one product over another, and he's entitled to that.

Further, the title of the thread clearly states "Death of the common MMO"  As we all know, WoW (for some unknown and unholy reason) is exceptional to the rest of the market. So really, he already excluded WoW from the discourse of the body of the argument.  To sum up the argument, 'GW2, with its B2P model, will contribute to the end of the current era of P2P model'  All else in the article is opinion, which anyone is entitled to, now QFT.

  • skeaserskeaser Member RarePosts: 4,208

How, exactly, will a B2P kill anything. People will still have that $15 of disposable income for whichever MMO they are currently playing.

GW2 can have a non-exlusive relationship with a wide playerbase.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Has anyone ever noticed (as i have) that many times when you're scrolling through videos or websites looking for a new game, you see a large number of "this is such a WoW clone"? well I have a little advice for them: Look at the links I have posted.

In the future, whenever you see trolls they will be saying "look at this GW2 clone" or "this game died because they didn't make it like GW2"

Guild Wars 2 blows all games (including WoW) out of the water. With many games going F2P recently, and with GW2 coming out, all P2P game are going to die, with the exception of Elitist Jerks (and in all fairness, who wants to play with them anyway?).

No games so far are going to compare to GW2.  The interactive battles alone are enough to keep you on your seat playing for hours.  Factor in the Dynamic events in gw2, scaling for those events, etc, you will never sleep again.

The combat alone should be more than enough to keep you busy. The ability to combine different professions' abilities into chains (and having to figure them all out) will keep you busy for ages. Not to mention the tactics involved in doing so and the use of environmental weapons to search for in the heat of battle, I have no doubt that your heart will be beating a thousand times per minute as you play GW2.

Now back to the subject of dynamic events blowing other games away. Do you ever get bored of "hey, those baddies are coming to destroy the town! help us!" and then you find the enemies in a field, or cave, just standing around doing nothing? NO MORE! as Colin (The lead designer of GW2) says, "if a character tells you ogres are coming to destroy a house, they will really come and smash down the house if you don't stop them!" events such as these will keep you playing for hours on end, and make you wonder why you ever bother with the trolls picking daisies in WoW and major MMOs.

There is no doubt in my mind that GW2 will outdo and outlast all other MMOs to date, and simply kill the populations of many of them once the players try it out.

I hope GW2 delivers what it claims. But what MMO ever has? I mean EVER. Not even the all mighty WoW delivered everything it claimed at launch. To claim something like you are is just plain silly. I did it myself with WAR and look how that turned out. Look how many said AoC was going to be the next big thing and defended it to the bitter end....AoC launched and what happened? Sure thoes are some extreem cases but its still 100% true that no MMO to this day has delivered on everything it claimed it was going to do.

The great thing about Arenanet is that all the information that we know about GW2 is what actually really is definately already working as intended in the game right now. Arenanet can't be said to be overhypeing or falsely claiming features because they have already shown the world it is a reality.

But some people will just wait and see anyways. Can't say I blame them with all the bogus claims made by other developers in the past though

    As I said before:

    1) GW2 will not kill WoW or beat WoW's numbers etc.

    2) The pure number of these annoying posts being made by GW2 fans has ensured I will never ever touch this game because I don't want to be associated with its community.

    1) Wow probably won't be killed, but WoW will never be the same.

    2) Then why are you posting on GW2 forums full of fans if you don't want to be associated with the GW2 community?

Not to mention, anything you played in the PAX demo was dumbed down. It's been said, and said again - how could you possibly have really enjoyed the ripple effect of level 1 events and savored the rewards when all you had to go off of was "Well, that guy sells fish now - ok..." - I mean did you benefit from the fish? Probably not, I would dare say that you were going to other events to sample those as well before logging on your high level Charr and fighting a watered down boss meant to show off the potential of their engine.

The game is going to be great, the demo already is great as long as you look at it for what it is. Thought, I kind of have to laugh at "was not as mind blowing as people make it out to be" when you have nothing to really compare it to, add in the things I stated above and your opinion comes off as nothing more than pessimism meant to bring down the morale or boil the blood of the people that frequent these forums.

It will hardly even dent WoW actually.

I post on threads like these in the hopes that one day people will wake up and be realistic. Having monitored these forums for years and been posting on them for a decent amount of time, it gets old when the fans of a yet to be released game try to act like that game will change MMOs and change the future and kill WoW. People have been saying it about almost EVERY GAME and it HAS NOT HAPPENED.

It is fine to be a fan of a game. It is not fine to be so deluded that you begin thinking that game is going to be the second coming of christ and will change the future of MMOs forever while killing the beast that is WoW. It is just ridiculous, untrue, and not even possible. Half of the people that make these kinds of posts come back within a month of release bitching about how the game is crap because it didn't meet their expectations because their expectations were insane.

Comparing GW2 to GW is like comparing EQ2 to EQ, or even WoW to Warcraft 3. There really isn't any similarity to them other than the setting/lore, which has actually changed pretty significantly itself, too.

i can't tell what's worse, the WoW fanboys or the GW2 fanboys.  seriously do you have some sort of time machine?  how do you know all of this?  you talk as if it's already out.

OP: I have to say, amusing and enthusiastic rant, probably directed at the right game, but we will have to see; but I don't think it is very constructive venting of opinion (positive is a nice change however!) as it does sound like PROPAGANDA to me and that leaves a slightly sickly taste after reading, because you should let the facts speak for themselves and leave space for people to work with. image
