The more "special" items they release, the more it convinces me I made the right choice in leaving the game.

One thing I notice with FE fans is, they dont seem easily discouraged to leave the game. I think out of the orignal group of players I met at release most of them are still around. Quite a few Eve players have been filtering in lately as well.  Its not a bed of roses, but at least its fun.

It's not 'any' exclusive item. I don't have a problem with certain ones, like that the steam pre-order t-shirt, which I did actually have.

A T-shirt, horse, ATV, hat, goggles, etc, I don't have a problem with, they fit and make sense within the game world.

A rideable mutant chicken? Seriously? Yeah it kind of fits because there are mutant chickens in the game, but a rideable one is just stretching it.

I started playing FE because I was sick of that kind of nonsense crap in WoW, and wanted an MMO with a more serious atmosphere to it. Since release, FE has become more and more nonsense.

Awww, c'mon - you would not download and install the game if they paid you $9.99?  With the size of hard drives and everything, I would be willing to install the game for $10...and I would leave it there, installed and unplayed each month as long they paid me $15 a month.

I mean, that sounds fair, no?

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I'd actually play it again if I'd have a decent graphics card. But I don't, so I have to play WoW, which runs on any crappy machine.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Dude, I always thought being face to face with a mutated chicken so big I could ride it would be damn serious.

I tried FE out and found that the respawn rate is absurd. I had to fight my way into a cave, get inside, do a series of quests only to find that I could not remember where the quest giver was. Well, I left the cave and immediately the entire entrance was filled. I tried to sneak past because all I wanted to do was turn in my quests, but OH NO! I had a train on me that would intimidate a whole group. They never gave up following. I died before I could turn in my quests.

    Rage quit. Delete. Game over.

sorry but FE is dead, really a total fail. even if they make it f2p, I wouldn't tart playing again.

I got the free copy when they gave it away here and I have tried to like this game, the crafting is awsome and I like the genre, but combat is so clunky and distracting with having to change modes from game and combat that I just can't play this game on a regular basis. Plus it runs crappy on my computer.

I think I will wait for the FallOut MMO.

If you can get past the combat, then it is well worth the ten dollars. It is a game that is trying so hard to keep its players and has a strong community and a great relationship with devs, but those at lower levels are left in the dust.

  • LeetheLeethe Member UncommonPosts: 893

This is the problem i had with the game. The combat was so much more...clumsy than what I was used to with most FPS games. Global Agenda, on the other hand, has very fluid, very responsive and agile combat. It's just too damn lite on the MMO side to hold my interest.

Not to dis FE at all. I just didn't get along with it. I'm still holding out for a sci-fi/post-apoc shooter MMO. Someday maybe.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Amazing how different peoples view of FE is. I think it is a splendid game. I mean; zombies, mutants, popping pills, shotguns... whats's not to like?

FE is a slow-burn hybrid between themepark and sandbox MMO's.

I've happily subbed to it since launch because even in spite of its flaws, it offers a core of mechanics I really think are cool, has had amazing support, both in-game/community wise and from devs in listening/improving the game.

It reminds me a lot of EVE's early years. There was a point in time when "EVE sucks", because it was trying to do so much at once, a lot of it was rough at first. But because the devs stuck with it, and kept improving and listening to the community, it improved over time and grew.

I'm not saying FE is going to reach EVE numbers ever, but with their consistent updates and improvements to the gameplay and core foundation they have now, I think it will be more of a creeper game in terms of playerbase.

Like someone said earlier in the thread, FE has its dedicated core of people who aren't easily discouraged.

Yup, I'm playing ugly fallout 3, but my headshots are determined by aiming/hitting the head instead of a backend die roll.

Yup, movement feels a bit clunky, but the setting, theme, and core ideas behind the combat are a lot more refreshing to me than anything out and anything coming soon.

Yup, it's not the best optimized game out there, but it has enough settings to get it to run decently, and they do work on performance with each patch.

Yup, there are 'AP' quests maxing out EVERYTHING in the game can net you around 250 additional points total, where avg questing around will net you 180-200ish by the time you hit 50.

Yes, if you hate questing, its kinda-ass that you couldn't min/max to the same level as someone who quested out the game. But depending on what you want to do, those 200 points could be ignored.

Granted, it may take longer, but the game lets you challenge yourself in advancement. You can hit 50 without fighting/questing in FE if you keep getting supplied the materials to craft. It's not easy, cheap, fast, or efficient, but its possible.

It's not perfect, but its got its loyal, niche, longterm fanbase that help make the game a great place for the people who want to be there.

Most of us I'd say stay not just for the current enjoyment, but for the potential it has and seeing the game evolving into something better that it already is.

Hell, FE is the only MMO in a long time that has great community events. Monthly Farmer's Market sales and bike rallys hosted/run by player-clans.

Dev-made events, either seasonal or like the massive 1yr anniversary events to help continue one of the overarcing storylines.

It's not for everyone, it shoudn't be for everyone, but it's worth taking a look to see if it's you may want in a game. You may like it, you may hate it, but overall, its good enough to warrent taking a spin.

    Lets Push Things Forward

I knew I would live to design games at age 7, issue 5 of Nintendo Power.

Support games with subs when you believe in their potential, even in spite of their flaws.

You all said sh!t about FE... I play since beta and the game isn't dead...

Some people absolutly want to look a dead game when they leave it, you wrong !

The last patch has changed some important things, the next one will add a BIG change. They are all working on features like housing and more.

I hate when someone love a game then talk like a pussy only because he can't continue to play (boring? ok get a life first then play again, you'll see it change your fun in-game)

If you want to see a dead game you seem to have a life problem.

Bad attitude need nervous answer :o)

I've subbed from release but havn't played consistantly, it has it's faults that's for sure and the combat does take some getting used to. But it has something a lot of games simply do not have and never will, a decent dev team and there's simply no substitute for it.

I was prudly  in the Fallenearth closed beta,   did my damnedest to make sure to report, replicate any errors within the game.   Was even mentioned  thanked in the patch notes once.   So  it hurtsm e to see ppl have such a negative  view on a game that honestly  can change if ppl show more interest.

tho 2 point abut the game completely  pissed me off.

    1.  physics.  great for everything else but  somehow vehicle didnt get them..     once you see a 4 wheel  ATV get stuck   on a curb  you seen it all lol.

    2.  they transfered alot of the idiots and failures from  SWG to the game.  like that morgana chick, ect.    Not sure why they would take ppl  from a game that  made its own bad impression  and  think thats going to giver theres a fresh start.  ..

damn i loved being apart of that community tho ,   Threads on creative ideas forthe game werent shot down like it is in so many  other games.  They acutaly mul  it over,  even a Dev or 2 would stop by and giver their opinions.

Maybe if it went F2P it would help some.

  • YunbeiYunbei Member Posts: 898

I'd say give it a try, you sandbox lovers. It's a cool game, interesting quests also for those who want them, really friendly community and all. A bit tough to learn, but you get tons of help.

I only stopped playing it because the setting of a post apocalyptic world was too bleak and depressing for me over time.

  • DeeterDeeter Member UncommonPosts: 135

I played this game a while back and it was freaking amazing. A sandboxy MMO in a post apocalyptic setting? Awesome. I love Fallout and this is the closest MMOs have come to it.

Unfortunately I paid full price for this game so I'm pretty pissed at these special offers now. If this went F2P similar to DDO/LoTR I'd totally come back for another go.
