This is just a hypothecial poll, as i'm just curious. But if Blizzard was to announce that due to the way the revamp zones worked we had to wipe all of our character databases and the player populations was to start over. Would you do it all over again with the new content?
Please don't come back with this is not going to happen or theres no way that would cause that to happen. It's a hypothecial poll. There is also no middle ground here (as that tends to have people stating i don't want an extreme), you have to either stay and level up or quit (not in reality of course)

Actually that would be kind of neat on a pvp server. Except for death knights.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

If your character and their deeds were wiped like they never even existed, would Cata even come to pass? I mean Deathwing is only rasing his fugly mug because we bitch-slapped his kids Blackwing and Onyxia around so much.
But for me I'll be starting over on a new server anyway with my worgen druid Fleebag.

Wouldn't make much of a difference would it?
If you mean that we'd have to level again... it takes, what, one maybe two weeks to hit max level?
If you mean gear, doesn't everybody's gear more or less get reset to Zero at the launch of each new expansion anyways?
Eh, no biggie.

I plan to roll two new toons when the expansion comes out anyways. Its gonna be a grindy few months! =D
Kind of like asking if you would go back to kindergarten again. Why conduct a poll when you are assured that the vast majority of responses would be no?
Funny, the vast majority of responses at the moment seem to be yes.

Strictly to point out the irony, when I posted this almost 3/4 of the people responding the the poll said yes...
Edit: Beaten to it; you're too fast for me Madimorga :P
I would. Actually, a new expansion always requires you to 'start over' per say, to get ready for whatever you need to do at the new level cap... And they always say something like 'Getting from 80 to 85 will take as long as 1-80' or something similar. Sucks for achievement whores though.
Sure.
Because the only way Blizzard would force restart is if they were also committed to making those lowbie areas extremely fun.

ROFL god no..
Over 5 years (on and off but mostly on) playing wow... lots of server first achievments, discontinued mounts, items, weapons, titles, achievments...
All that time i spent is meaningless in reality but to me its important!!!!! If i had to give it up i wouldnt go back, not with all the cool games coming out soon...
- Personally looking forward to Forsaken World (hopefully its epic and will last until something else)..
I go from game to game, wow is the only game ive really stuck with... wouldnt give it up and restart!
Actually I'm hoping they release a new server so I can start over from 0. Well, from 1
I'll roll one of the new races probably. That's close enough to starting over.
No way I'm giving up my mains. Inflation is terrible with the new web based AH. Need the mains to farm money so the alts can have their shiny things :-)
Okay because MMORPG doesn't let me see my own poll without voting myself i'm going to vote once in the no territory. Please disregard that one no vote and adjust the number as if it didn't happen
Sorry i can't keep it completely free of my influence i blame MMORPG for this one (unless i'm overlooking an option, don't think i am)
Anyway wanted to state that so you know. Carry on with the conversation
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
i think once you have a few level 80's you kind of look at the game in a different light anyway, levelling isnt exactly that arduous, nor time consuming, so..... as probably near everyone is going to be starting a new level 1 goblin or worgen.. the answer is yes, actually starting from scratch on a new server too does sound kind of appealing, especially as the starting areas are going to be changed... roll on november!
answer is yes, and when all old maps are reformed anyway playing them again is only joy with new races.
if you feel bad about your grinded main character with all its achievements who says you need to delete it?
cheers
If along the Cata came a chip for complete human erasure chip i would do it: I would start WoW all over again. And get all the chicks in the process (?)

I'd start all over. In fact I just might go back to WoW when cataclysm comes out and play as a worgen to see their story and then have a goblin main. I just have more fun playing as a lowbie than a high level. Raiding always feels like I have a ...third job and pvp gets boring to me after a while.
In a game like WoW starting over and nonthing. How long does it take to get a max toon? Less than a week?
If you have no live than yes, even with recruit a friend + the heirloom xp bonus you need over 1day playtime to 60 -24h and youre still 20lvl to go and those are way slower
Its irrelavant anyway, why would you rush to max lvl if you bother to start over?

I would leave the game if they did a wipe. There would be nothing left to keep me coming back. Right now, I can continue progressing my main to 85 and roll another alt to check what's changed and what's not.
If they want me to check new contents, make it a choice for me to do that, I don't want to feel pushed to do that again.
It would essentially be a new game, no longer an expansion, since WoW is a far cry from the game we played nearly 6 years ago. I'd play, but the big question is, how long would I play? Without my existing characters, there would be little incentive to play for long since Blizzard has pretty much gutted the game and made it more like the titles that have released since. Personally, I think the long-timers are going to get disenchanted with Cataclysm pretty quickly.

I would buy Cata only if they opened new realms with no transfers for old toons. That would mean no heirlooms, no ridiculous AH prices, no unlimited gold, etc.
I also wouldn't mind if they removed faster exp gains and bigger exp rewards from quests so the gear we'll get from instances would have meaning for longer than an hour...
which will take us to instances and that moronic invention called LFD -tool, which I obviously want also to be removed for good. Oh, and restore the challenge there used to be on dungeons in Outland and Azeroth (there was never a challenge in Northrend dungeons).
The bottom line is: a lot has to change if I'm gonna come back, probably will never happen.
