Asheron's Call was my first, and ultimately favorite MMO.

They did immersion and questing better than anyone to date.  I can only remember how nervous I felt the first time I fought Lady Aerlinthe or Gaerlan.

Then of course you have the occasions when GM's took control of characters and ran rampant!  That is one thing that MMO's today are sorely missing.

I'd agree with Sara Oakheart... her whole storyline was pretty spectacular, especially since the player encounters her many times before she even holds any story relevence, making the twist even more dramatic.

I also remember a rabbit in Guild Wars... that if you followed it would lead you down into a ravine before promptly vanishing. Seconds later you'd be ambushed by a horde of monsters that were pretty much certain death to an unprepared player. That one took me by surprise the first time.

+ Daisy (or was she a -?  can't remember - it's been so long)  I actually had backups of a few capped fights with her - but that drive finally died a couple of years ago.  Her main claim to fame was that she used to eat people - although that eventually got 'nerfed'

Bonus points to anyone who actually remembers who that is :D!

Can not believe the Pandemonium Warden from FFXi didn't make the cut!

Ya mean Crazy Daisy from UO?

Two words: Mayang Mistmoore from EQ1

That guy was the epitome of a great MMO villain. When you saw him appear, you knew an all world beat down was coming (especially since he was controlled by SOE developers).

A very close second to him was the ghostly Lhranc in the City of Mist. I cannot count the number of times when someone would pull him and get wiped or not account for him, and accidentally pulll him back to camp.

Hmm...for me my first really memorable time was in EQ1, Oasis of Marr.

Particularly Spectres LOL....nothing like getting steamrolled by someone training Spectre's to the zoneline.

I remember the first time I freaked out and I was like DUDE THE GRIM REAPER JUST KILLED ME...WTF!!

Anyway :-) Props also to Sand Giants (and getting strong enough to nuke em down in vengence later), and Lockjaw the crocodile

    Good times.

I think Fippy Darkpaw and Holly Windstalker are a lot more memorable than Curt Schilling. As a matter of fact....this is the first I've heard of this Curt Schilling NPC and I've been playing EQ2 since Feb 2005, so.....whatevs.

If he still exists as an NPC....I've certainly never run into him.

I remember when WoW had roaming elites...back in the "vanilla years."  Man...those were the days.

Anarchy Online has a dozen or so "elite" mobs that roam around lower areas in both Rubi-ka and the Shadowlands.

Curt Shilling, CC Sabathia and LeBron James?  Do I sense another Cleveland fan?

Seriously, you can't have this list without Absolute Virtue from FFXI.

The thing STILL hasn't been beaten without using glitches and exploits which were quickly patched, and it's been out now for more than 5 years.

I always loved killing the Medusa Queen in DDO online......she ate my Barb for breakfast

    Playing: PO, EVE
    Waiting for: WoD
Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO

I saw this topic and my immediate first nominee was Sara Oakheart from LOTRO. I see a few others felt the same.

Honourable mention to Bael'zharon from Asheron's Call. And a shout out to his betrayer, Isin Dule, who led the Shadow faction in AC2.

Third goes to, yes - The White Rabbit, aka Pookie, also from Asheron's Call. He made a return in AC2 as well.

Funny, all my noninees are from Turbine games.

The most memorable bosses have to be from Guild Wars because they stand out so much... The Lich King, Shiro, Abaddon... even ones like Rotscale and well all the bosses rreally... IMO

I do believe mmorpg.com has found a way to stop you without having to ban you every night. Have fun. Or are you really this incompetent?

Speechless.  WoW actually made the list twice, EQ2 once, and EQ isn't even anywhere?

    Cool newbie gamer list, bro.

The only truly appropriate one is the EVE one.

New engine goes live in Q1 2011, perhaps a beta in Q4 2010 already. So its not dead, its very much alive!
