Thats your answer to my question which tolls u meant were still missing??
WoW guess u dont know what u were talking about after all hmm?
Buying and selling stuff is np at all for me actually i make a killer selling my crafted items buying was tougher since all retainers were in the same market ward but since the last update i dont have much prob with that anymore as well.....
So what tools were missing again now??
My girlfriend's account is still active and we went to check out the new markets.
I like the naming convention and the idea behind it. It was still a pain to find anything, and honestly if they left out the AH to control prices... That didn't work, people charging 200k for things that a rank 12 player 'may' want? It's horrible because only the lamest of the lame has time to go around and check market prices before considering what to charge. So rather than bother they just think whatever and then over charge or grossly undercharge and gain little.
The trade channel style of selling seems to work best in this game so far. But the market is broken yet.
Yeah its still not as easy as an AH that's for sure however its not really the market which is broken it is the players who dont care and just place there retainer wherever but that's prob should be fixed with the search function that will be added in one of the next 2 updates.
Current Gamerankings.com post @ 48.75% out of 100%. Review/Ranking still going down. What can I say that hasnt already been said. Good/Great graphics the rest need work/help. I "like" the crafting system though its lag system makes things go hella slow. Its strange. The UI is "old school", if you want to add a friendly term to it. I just think its sad personally. I'd give the game a 4.5/10
This game is good, but I gotta admit... FFXI + expansion was a complete package when it releases in NA!!
Put it in another word, all MMORPG should be like FFXI with expansion when it launches, it cures lots of troubles and verdicts people giving.
Therefore, FFXIV is, in fact a bad launch even though it is playable. I hope more updates and contents will be added in next 6 months to polish the game. I do trust SE can do that !! their current updates are pretty fast and fix some of the concerns !!! Also they did good by stating upcoming patche notes in November.
I'm still going to come back in six months and see if anything has improved before I even try to play it. From what's been said here and elsewhere, the game needs it.
If you played FFXI, there isn't much new to learn in this version. I was able to grasp the controls just fine when I started. I play with a gamepad in both FFXI and FFXIV. Invest in one for this game!
I loved FFXI and I definitely understand the old-school feeling and the lure of it. That being said, this game is an embarrassment for a 2010 release. It's like someone got FFXI and improved the graphics, but removed the auction house, the airships, the chocobos, the content, and renamed the races. These are features that should have been there at launch regardless if they come later. It's a step backwards from FFXI (which was a 2003 release) in almost every catagory. Factor this in with the fact SE had the audacity to want reviewers to wait a month is a virtual self-admission that this thing was pushed out the door unfinished. They aren't delaying charging people for it, so the deserve all the horrid reviews coming from major gaming publications. This game will go down in history as a huge black mark on SE's flagship brand.
2003 release? What are you talking about... if you're going to compare launches compare them correctly...
That said, the issues with the game right now are not exactly excusable and should be fixed. But if you really want to compare it to FFXI NA release then you should wait a year...
I personally think there's a lot to like even with the problems. My hope is that those problem get worked out (and by most measures it seems like they are being worked on, though more transparency would be nice).
EDIT: Also on the issue of lag, I think that it really depends on what server you sign up for. I signed up for Saronia and I really very rarely feel the lag. Again, personal connection speed also plays a big role...
At least the servers are fairly stable now... I remember the WoW launch had massively unstable servers for quite a while...
Naturally if you go on an empty server it wont lag ... what people want tho is to play with someone as it is a MMOrpg.
LoL @ fanboys and their conspiracies. Someone with a LOT of money must be paying like...every single reviewer in every single magazine to harp on the EXACT SAME THINGS EVERYONE ELSE HATES. I guess most of the players that come to the forums to complain got paid, too? Because I sure didn't. Rent still being due, n'all.
Don't stand up for it, really. It can be a challenging game, and still be a functioning one. Why would you not want those things to be fixed? The squeaky wheel is the one that's heard, or however that goes. Let them fix them, so that when you continue playing, you have a pleasant experience, rather than standing up for things that are clearly half-assed. Sort of like artists NEED critique in order to improve.
Thats how the fans should be looking at it, instead of getting offended as if they're the ones who developed the game, lol...
What I don't understand is why they rushed to get this game out so quickly. It's like, we heard about it one month and 6 months later it was playable (bit of an exaggeration but you know...). That's just strange to me. Usually companies give out tidbits of info, get word from the community, work on things, go through several alphas...which they might have, but on such a tiny scale if at all that it clearly didn't help them develop a decent game.
I'm still flabbergasted that this was allowed to happen to so famous an IP. Like...wow.

Nah man its just that the only people thats still camping the ff14 stuff are the fanboys, and im sorry to say that even with the latest updates and them giving everyone that has the game 30 more days free that its still not fun. Fun is the only thing that really matters, and thats not what ff14 is. Anyways every noob is all like well WoW this and WoW that i play Aion not wow and Aion is better then this game and guess what i think Aion's cinimatics are better as well. Also no copy pasta on exact places and pieces. Anyone that responds from now on is just a fanboy because everyone else sees this game for what it is. A endless walk, Endless grind, Limited gameplay and lvling but still not limited on taking your money. It is work.
I just want to comment on the complaint about having to look up stuff on the net to help you on the game. FFXI was HORRIBLE. I relied sooo much on the game's strategy guide and alakhazam, it was ridiculous. And that was just for the noobie quests. At least FFXIV has waypoints on the map! My god, that was horrible. heh
First and foremost, this review was due 2 weeks after release. We were told the game wasn't yet finished. Why this game was afforded such a grace period when you are ripping up other games is just crazy. MANY people suspected your reviewers were being bought. I won't comment on that, just the fact that it happened.
Now we get this. Which basically says nothing about the actual gameplay. It lacks a tutorial and lags....anyone can see there is far more lacking in the first 3 hours of gameplay then you did in this "first look".
It is my personal opinion that this website is receiving monetary suppliments in return for an ease in harsh reviewing, or in this case, not reviewing at all.
I don't under stand still why this game gets a get out of jail free card while so many other MMO's that are far less bad than this one at launch get ripped to shreds.
you need to either A) come up with a reviewing standard that EVERYONE FOLLOWS regardless of title. or Get some journalistic integrity and stop receiving money for a change in your opinions.
This is an old preview, and there are several other sites that havn't reviewed XIV yet either, one of them being G4 which is surprising, cause everyone there are so biased against anything JRPG and Final Fantasy you'd have thought they'd be all over ripping on this one, but there are still no articles on it.
Its ok though cause I really don't care what most western reviewers have to say about eastern games, being that there is such a huge cultural difference and style of gameplay, most just don't get it and instead fault it for not being what they like. There is huge potential for XIV yet, especially with this new producer/director, but it'll take time to implement, and if you havn't read this post, FFXI had a horrible launch period too, but it recovered and after 8+ years its one of the best MMO on the market today.
why would a company design a MMO for the console yet release it for the PC a year or more before its planned to be released for said console. doesnt that just scream paid beta to anyone else? i mean if it was truly desgned for the ps3 then they purposefuly released the game knowing it was not ready for their targeted audience.
I've said something similar before. My guess is indeed that the PC is somewhat beta for the PS3 release, because most likely the smaller PS3 versions won't be able to hold all the updates done if it's released now. With that, I think it's hard to find a (closed) beta audience for the PS3 while it's a lot easier for the PC...
that may be true but it certainly doesnt justify asking the PC beta testers to pay for finishing a product not designed primarily for us PC users.
Well, to be fair, we're NOT paying - the game is completely free for us until they get the game to where it needs to be. I've been playing again for the past two weeks and they've made a lot of good changes, which gives me confidence they can fix the game's issues within the year, which is the same situation that FFXI was in.
The game is basically a B2P MMORPG atm, which is rather nice, honestly. I can see why people wouldn't want to pay for it in its current state, but for a free game, I'm rather happy with. Now if only they would give me my chocobo...
