WOW Paladins: ANY Spec, this thing is hands down the easiest most pathetic excuse for a class I have ever seen. Anyone telling you this garbage class takes skill is a moron or self delusional. Just out of curiousity after watching someone I know, a terrible gamer, one shot people while keyboard turning and rapidly smashing the Two button over and over again while facing a wall. I just had to see for myself, so i made a Holy Paladin. Running around with a level 17 paladin close to the Barrens I griefed a level 24 Hunter killing him about 6 times before he gave up, then i was finally ganked by a couple of level 30s, who after some time managed to kill me. I got this THING up to level 29 and ran around like a mindless idiot healing self and throwing hammers and lay on hands everywhere.. needing only 3 buttons to do everything really. I never played the thing again but at least i didnt make a Ret spec then I really would have hated myself. At least DKs needed some timing and skill to perfect, these things are just a garbage class.
WoW mage before the mana change. Kill. Sit. Drink. Kill. Sit. Drink. Kill. Sit. Log out and roll something else.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
A crafter in most triple A MMORPG tittles, as they seem to be a afterthought or totally combat oriented.
But crafter is also my most desired type of character I like to play, I just dislike crafting that seem nothing more then what I already can find in a singleplayer RPG with crafting.
Pretty much the worst class I have ever played in any mmo is the priestly class. Far too fragile for being the core of the groups healing. D&D did it right, heavy armor, mace/hammer wielding foe of all that is evil and corrupt. Turning skeletons into dust with a glance and making demons scream in fear on the trip back to the underworld. A Templar based priest, not this psuedo mage with none of hte offence and a pretty pathetic defense.
Funny, the worst classes I have ever played are the ones that are so easy they are like dummy mode. I have played some of the classes listed and liked them because they are chalenging and once they are mastered they are ussually very good.
Heavy armoe healing classes.
Ranged pet classes.
Stealth classes.
All 3 of these are ussually easy mode and they worst part of MMOs.
I know I am generalizing but else is the interent good for?
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”
It is funny how many of the classes that have been listed here would make my favorite class lists. However, in looking back at the various games I have played over the years - with so many classes that may have been meh and to pick out a single one, I would have to go with: DDO Wizard.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

If being a developer means being quiet, mature, well-spoken, and disconnected from the community, then by all means do me a favor and believe I'm not one.

When did you play. That is the question. Beta and post bet for two years they were forrible to play even at higher levels. I totally agree with your pain if thats what your basing it on.
I have to tell you they've made it easier to be a caster. Infact they finally fixed Palemaster so you can heal with death aura and they added Archmage Pre. If you haven't played in the last 5 months give it another go.
Worst class I ever played was a thief on Legends of Kesmai.
Worst "class-ish" thing to start as was magery on UO. Regs suck. :P
When I first played WoW back in 2004 I thought the Mage class was cookie cutter and very boring to play. I had to sit a lot because of how fast the mana was burned. (don't know if that has changed now).
All the classes in FFXVI. None of them took advantage of the system laid out for them, and you had to grind extremely hard to make them worth a crap.
Just an example, even if you could just be one class in FFXVI, the choices for class splicing are just obvious. You will likely follow the "one true build" to the end. So in the end, there are only really like 5 classes. Throw in the fact that none of them were intuitive enough to even pass the Warrior from EQ on the creativity scale - you have a large dump in the place of a multiclass system.
People think it's fun to pretend your a monster. Me I spend my life pretending I'm not. - Dexter Morgan
I pretty much hated every class in LotRO. Great game, but I couldn't get past level 25 on any toon because I couldn't stand the classes.
This. The classes there are truly awful.
I confess at first I pretty much hated every race/ class combo Lotro offered. Now that i actually gave it more than just a trial run the two tank classes I'n the game are actually very good. The Guardian itself turned lotro around for me. Then I moved to the Warden. I still dislike half of the classes but the two i really like are enough for me to play for a while and I'm even looking forward to the Captain & Champion now. With all that said I totally understand you guys when it comes to not liking the classes. It's an acquired taste imo.
The most awful classes I consider the 3 nuking classes (Wizard, Eldritch and Runemasters) in DAoC. The problem with these was the bad soloability when nobody was around and when you reached L50 you was becoming useless in raids because the mobs resisted most spells!
WoW Paladin, its like watching tv, most of the time you sit back and do nothing, when friend of mine lvld his paladin i agreed to help at 78 to 79 cause i wanted to know the class better for pvp success, it was the worst experience ever.
define worst and what direction u want to throw the word in....useless? classes are pretty much biased and unbalanced in most games and id like to assume the makers and testers play them completely differently with a deeper understanding than we do. the games that can claim balance generally make the same skill for all classes with different graphics and name, which is boring. ultima had a good idea but even so if u didnt go certain skills to compliment each other you would have made a useless character. all in all worst class ive ever played is all of them because game makers cant get it right. and yes i understand its easy to criticize and hard to deliver. bah i hate writing articles because as i write 8 things become aparent and i realize i dont comment on everything id like to so im stopping here before i make a 20 page rant.
WAR Marauder -I couldnt make it to end game in WAR. But on my Shadow Warrior, I kited them to death. The tentacle was lame in that game and its even more ridiculous in WoW where the Death Knight has that ability.../COUGHripoffCOUGH
Shadow Warrior -The only thing that seemed very lacking in this class was the dmg. Well the talents werent great either. You could go heavier into ranged damage which wasnt that great of dmg....or you could choose talents that would help you to be more mobile and shoot a whole lot quicker, but you lost out on range and had to put yourself into harms way.
Easily the best part about the Shadow Warrior was blowing people off a mountain, another ability that was stolen from WAR and added to WoWs Shaman. Whose coughing?
WoW Mage -There not so bad on mana, anymore. You have evocate which is a channeled spell that lets you regain a large portion of your mana and there are also mana stones (at least I think there still are...they just patched)
DAOC eldritch, wizard, runemaster - I played a Eld and a Runie and loved them both. They were a blast to play but your gripes seem to come mainly from raiding, which I admittedly didnt do much of. Seems like some of your issues could of been solved via gear.
I'm really surprised nobody has mentioned any of these, but hands down the dumbest classes ever made in any mmo i've ever played and all from the same game.
Lineage 2 - prophet all they do is buff and then sit and regen mana, I know these were pretty much just two boxed but could you imagine actually playing this class legit? all you do is buff and then sit...
Scavenger - the whole class is to just spoil materials, another class people were forced to play because they were important.. but damn what a fucking boring class to play. At least the artisan had buffs + siege golems + other cool things they could make for combat.
Aion
On a side note templar was probably the most boring class i've had to solo grind with man at high 30's I would despise trying to log into that game just to grind a mob for like 4 mins just to kill it.
WoW Paladin, its like watching tv, most of the time you sit back and do nothing, when friend of mine lvld his paladin i agreed to help at 78 to 79 cause i wanted to know the class better for pvp success, it was the worst experience ever.
heh paladin boring with WOTLK expansion? It was leaps and bounds compared to what it was in vanilla WoW. LOLret was so OP at the end of BC and beginning of WOTLK.
While the Runemaster and the Eldritch on DAoC had still some usability. Even worse was it for the wizard that before the smite cleric nerf they got outdamaged by the smite cleric! (I played both classes.) And gear did not helped much because it was a level comparison issue that casters got resisted so much. And additional attackers helped more by reducing resistance later than any gear.
In Vanguard they messed some classes extremly up in the beta short before releasing VG. I remember the necro who was a fun class suddenly was not even able to kill anything few levels below him short before release. According to infos I have the class is now quite well again.
On WoW I fear that Marksmanship Hunters are getting the shaft in Cataclysm.

RIFT was a *crushing* disappointment; a shallow, loveless, generic MMO the likes of which hasn't been seen in a P2P format since, well, forever.
Eagerly awaiting: World of Darkness, ArcheAge.

Shadowbane Thief
The damage and survivability vs mobs or players was terrible.
It didnt matter the race, the gear you had, or what runes you had equipped---the class was soft and put out terrible dmg.
WoW Paladin, its like watching tv, most of the time you sit back and do nothing, when friend of mine lvld his paladin i agreed to help at 78 to 79 cause i wanted to know the class better for pvp success, it was the worst experience ever.
