There must have been financial pressure tying their hands from doing a better job over the last few years. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was economy related. If not then that is basically saying it's happening for no reason other than they are bad at their jobs. LoL

All the MMORPG company seemed to be making money in asia. If FFXIV can release a chinese version, their probably rack in alot of money too. But I highly doubt it with the Japan-China relation now.
The thing to me is not many company which focus on only publishing their MMO in western company seemed to be doing well. So don't be harsh on SE. Like other people said, how about EA, or Cryptic, or Funcom.
The truth to me is it's probably not easy to make a good MMO.
SE isn't dying, you just want to say SE is dying. You think that you can throw statistics and graphs and scare half the people out of their wits, trust me I use stats on about half the things I do. Statistics and numbers are the perfect fear tactics, and whether you are right or wrong you can convince almost anyone with a graph. Fortunately I am not so naive; the game may not have been received well, but like someone said before me, "You are delusional" to believe that SE is going to die. SE has some of the most popular titles on the market, and are backed by several other major companies as well, the most notable ones being Sony and Disney. So no, SE is not dying, I predict they will be around for a long time, a very long time indeed.
Squenix may not be dying but i hope the Final Fantasy franchise is if FFXIII and FFXIV are what we can expect from them. SE has rode the early FF games success train to its end. If what we are getting now is their best then, imo its best to let FF fade away before they tarnish the name any further
Maybe this subject is a little to deep for some of you.
Haha, right. I must have missed the incredibly deep title you started with and all those reasons you were hoping to discuss too.
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
Yoichi Wadajust recently stated in an interview that SE is aiming on becoming one of the top 3 Publishers in the world within the next 5 years kind of big ambitious for a dieing company i might say.
I dont claim to be a pro if it comes to stock markets so i wont even try to argue the charts shown here.
Yet i would nott risk a single Yen on a bet that SE is dieing since i think that statements is silly at best and while 14 might not be the big hit yet that it could have been expected to be did SE have enough high selling titles in the past to compensate even a total loss if FF14 really would be one which it will not become but just saying even if SE would not die because of that.
Just seeing 2 of the titles for next year Dungeon Siege 3 and Deus Ex should be promising enough to bring in tons of money again.
Maybe this subject is a little to deep for some of you.
Haha, right. I must have missed the incredibly deep title you started with and all those reasons you were hoping to discuss too.
Hmmm you do not udnerstand if you disagree with the opener you are eitehr a troll or are just to stupid to udnerstand his flwaness genious conclusion. It is a bit like in politics where people are againa certain law the politician say that they need to explain it better to the people so that they understand it and agree on this totally stupid law.
I only wonder if he does this just for have some trolling and flameing or if he really does have a deep issue against SE.
SE is definitely hurting especially in their reputation with so much hate towards FFXIII and XIV. However on numerous other titles both published and developed on DS, and other consoles they are very successful. Almost all game companies have seen a large hit due to the economy over the last 2 years and charts similar to this apply to almost all of them as video game sales are down a large amount from what they used to be.
I expect Christmas will see a nice rise with some big titles coming over the next few months. Still SE isn't dying.
The first chart, is NSS (ends with sherlock), the world slid into a recession the whole globe's stocks went down, it's probably gonna slough off some more too cause this winter is going to be the real "grinder" economically.
Second chart 06 was the JP release of XII so you can see a boom there, then a denoumant till NA/Intl releases of XII, then they got up there again. Until the economic crash of 09. I bet you could take almost any large gaming firms charts from the same time frame and you'd likely note a similar trend.
Look don't like the game that's fine, don't play, but you have no place to take shots at a company who's net worth is likely in the order of 1000x your own over their fiscal policy. If you want credibility run the charts for Blizzard, CCP, NCSoft and Bethesda (simply because none of the others develop for console and PC simultaneously) beside these. Until then your just being chicken little.
I'm really more curious about what motivated the OP to write this post. Exactly why is it important for him to try to establish Square-Enix is in decline? Other than the fact that Square-Enix made Final Fantasy XIV - and dozens upon dozens of other games - what does this have ot do with the game? If I had to guess, the motivation behind this post is just a disgruntled fan lashing out because he didn't like FFXIV. If so, that's not a very mature thing to do, you know?
It's like trying to tell everybody McDonalds is failing, using any little sign it might be you can find, because you didn't like their new flavor of milkshake. Perhaps you believe McDonalds has an obligation to you, they should only make shakes you like, and if they let you down they let down their entire customer base. However, this belief is false. McDonalds only ever had an obligation to make money however they see fit: they're a business, that's what businesses do. Further, your tastes are only a very small part of a very broad base of individuals they are hoping to sell to, and they have done the research needed to have an understanding of their overall market's tastes superior to an understanding of any one of their individual customers has.
You might have hated their new shake, but they've likely had focus groups establsh that releasing the shake was the best thing to do at the time, and that's all the justification they needed. You get marked down as a statistic, "this person out of our sample of 395,000 people filled out a survey that established they disliked the shake, bringing the amount to 65% dislike or indifferent, but the product is still performing within expectations as 35% of the customers who liked the shake, and it diversifies our product base in a cost-effective manner."
That's the total end of your customer input into their decision process. McDonalds keeps selling the shake, though you hate it. Square-Enix will continue to develop Final Fantasy XIV, even though it may have only about a 35% positive rating amongst reviewers and players alike. (Metacritic puts the reviewer rating closer to 50%.) In the end, 35% of millions of people is still quite profitable, and profit is the bottom line for any business.
Even if it were true Square-Enix was in decline, I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over it. It's none of my business how successful Square-Enix is. They released a product that I liked enough to pay for. They now have my money, and I have their product. I will continue to use and pay for this product as long as I'm interested in doing so. That's the total end of my involvement with Square-Enix, and if the company were to fold tommorrow, oh well, I wasn't planning on playing Final Fantasy XIV forever anyway. It is ever the state of life that all good things must come to an end.
There is no conspiracy it's all in your heads. People just wonder how the devs of FF14 could screw it up so badly and finances seem a reasonable explanation. The only other explanation is they are morons but I don't think it's that simple. They were told for months in beta what was going to happen and they did it anyway.

This is why the biggest stock holder ragequit and why SE needed to release FF14 in such a disasterous state. The stock value has been cut in half.
WHAT? You just posted the charts with volumes yourself and you still think the story about a USD 26 Million "rage quitting" supernerd is true. It was a hoax fabricated by some hater of the game. Just like the information you fabricated out of these charts.
Seriously, get a life and while you are at it, an education.

Yes, we already established that one guy who hated on the game and setup the conspiracy to write every game review in every magazine about this game failing was me....
Only me... me alone... I am the one hater...
I wrote all those reviews and I also made that one Japanese guy bail out his 25 million in SquareEnix stock...
I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids...
Oh yeah have fun until your next update.... in December... HAHAHAHAHA

I am merely stating the obvious fact that when someone is on a stock chart site he could have checked for the supposed 26 million sold shares. The truth is that at said date or any other day in the SE chart history the volume of traded shares never shows this happening.
Unless you can post a link to a respected source (for example Bloomberg which i use) there is no reason to further discuss this.
Please don't ever try to be sarcastic on a forum again.

Sorry, you seem to be confused. We only talk about how much SE sucks and how they are going to go bankrupt unless they make FFXIV like wow. Get out of here with your logic!
SE is dying. Somehow, I doubt it. Extremes are rarely true. However, I doubt they're sitting around the office popping champagne bottles and patting each other on the backs for a job well done.
If they are, they need to knock it off and get back to work. There's still time for a Halloween event.
Stock is going down?? Company is obviously in risk of shutting down. It's not like there's any other valid reason for stocks to go down ..... except for maybe ..... the economy has tanked almost world-wide.
I've just seen posts like this too many times to lend them any weight, since AOC released there have been people trying to clock the stock price and make proclamations about the companies demise, at the end of the day SE is dying when they announce that the company is folding this doesn't prove anything.
