Nothing has changed. We're gamers on a gaming site watching videos of a gaming con.

This comment made me laugh for about five minutes. Made my day. :)

Gamers are just like everybody else and to assume they are all fat, nasty looking is thinking narrow mindedly. Furthermore, you should be judging the COSTUMES and not the people wearing them.

Exactly my thoughts.  I'm a gamer girl who has made several video game related costumes (though not for Blizzcon) and it takes a long time to make those costumes (often many months).     I don't count myself as one of the hot girls, but I do get a lot of compliments due to the work I've done.

Look at the quality of the work of the costume and not just judge who is wearing it.

So where's the 'Guys of Blizzcon' video??  :)

Eh, besides the four chicks on the still shot I didn't see much that I would classify as "good looking".

At first I laughed at the nerds, but then I was overwhelmed with a sense of deep, deep pity....

How very sexist this was.  Not surprising.   Why no Guy Gamer show?  Not enough hot guys I would imagine.  Or maybe Bliz doesn't want to spend the money for hot guy models?

Fans of a game or move (Star Trek) enjoy making these costumes and competing.

    Loved their costumes!

You can tell many spent quite a bit of time and effort on putting those together. What I find sexist in this thread is men who think they should tell a woman what she can and cannot wear.

Those girls did a good job on their costumes, and it is pretty obvious why there isn;t a " guys of Blizzcom" thread. It is because Women are the superior gender, and no one wants to look at ugly hairy dudes. Bow down to your Boob overlords boys!image

Last post on this thread for me. This is for you really 'hot', really 'cool' mmo playing guys that think poking fun of gamer girls is a duty.

My wife and I take great pride in our halloween costumes. She does not game, but would like to come with me to a convention in costume sometime (she has attended several trek convention in the gogo boots and miniskirt uniform).

After reading this thread, I realized, that if we attended BlizzCon, she would be very flattered to see herself featured in this type of article.

Now I know, that when that happens, to show her the video link and then prevent her from reading the thread.

Most of the women in that video have probably seen this thread or one similar to it featuring a video of them at the convention.

Be proud of yourself, you probably just looked a woman in the face and made fun of her. Good luck with that in life.

Personally, I have found that my life's success with women is due to my respect for them. Think about that the next time you are dumped or divorced or sued or fired by a woman.

You'll be busy posting on video game forums about how gamer girls are ugly or nerdy or nonexistant, I'll be sharing my life with a woman I love.

And don't think that you could do 'better' than these girls, after all, you are posting on a gaming forum about mmos.

Ok, I cant help but laugh.  I know some of the girls who dress up for those things, Comic-cons, and anime-cons, and all that other stuff.   95% of them have some SERIOUS issues, 3% are just nasty, 1.5% smell worse than I do after a 8 mile ruck march, and .5% are ok normal decent looking women.

All I have to say, is that one girl who was mostly naked with the bits of red... SHAVE YOUR LEGS!  Otherwise she wasnt bad.

So much crap, so little quality.

"Furthermore, you should be judging the COSTUMES and not the people wearing them."

    Next time I will try...honest. :)

The second one is about the only one you'd take a second look at, the others are kind of what you'd expect to see at some "fest" or "convention"...

But if the point isn't to comment on THEM what the hell is this on the front page for?

I would be writing something critical but I will be putting on an armor myself for a halloween  party this evning so anything I would say would be somewhat hypocritical. I do look smashing in my viking gear however.

Really, if people like to dress up it is fine.

It seems odd that Blizz only had the contest for ladies and not men also, otherwise I see no problem here.

Of course I think Wows "armor" are incredibly ineffective and somewhat silly but that is an entirely different thing and should be for another thread.

It seems funny to me how males who play MMO's or who are gamers get on here and judge and ridicule women for enjoying the same things they do and for enjoying a hobby enough to go to conventions for.  Kinda like how non-gamers think all male gamers are fat, lazy, live at home with their mothers and have never talked to or been on a date with a women.  How dare anyone on here say anything negative about someone who has the same damn hobby as you.  You are a bunch of immature manboys who need to grow up and go outside and realize that you can't stereotype people.  And unless you know for a fact those girls are models STFU with all this conspiracy theory.  And last time I checked the "Hot Factor" of women is as subjective as is your choice of MMO.  What women/MMO you think is hot, someone else will see as Ugly/crap game.  I know and have met many, what I would call, hot gamer chicks.  Doesn't mean I think all chicks who play are hot.   Any of you Manboys who like to say whether that girl is hot or that girls is ugly, lets see some pics of you so we can judge you on the same criteria you seem to enjoy judging others on.  In my experience those that bash the loudest are those that have the most to be bashed about.

The fact is gaming appeals to a much wider range of people then it has ever reached.  So guess what some will be good looking and some will not be, but guess what WE ARE ALL GAMERS.  How about you guys get off your high horses take a look in the mirror and realize it is you with the problem when all you can do is ridicule someone else for having harmless fun.  Does this make you feel better about your pathetic life to try and make everyone else's life seem as pathetic as yours is.  There is an old saying that goes "If you can't say something nice about someone, do not say anything at all."  I honestly think if people would follow this motto more, the world will be a better place.

Some very impressive costumes. To the guy who thinks these chicks are after a modeling job...uh lol?

    Wait, I'm confused.

So, we shouldn't have an opinion on how attractive people or MMOs are because we're people who play MMOs?

I mean I play a lot of games and I think anyone in a costume at best should be beaten half silly by a mob of 8 year olds at a theme park.

What I guess I'm saying is what exactly is this post aimed at?

  • ScotScot Member LegendaryPosts: 24,459

Wow, major issues there, I got out the popcorn as soon as the word ‘manboys’ was used. I guess it’s the posting equivalent of a Jerry Springer episode, unfortunately it did not last that long and I had to get my fat ugly arse of the couch and go and do something else. As someone who commented on the babes I must by definition be an ugly bastard it seems. :)

  • YamotaYamota Member UncommonPosts: 6,593

Why is it if guys does something like this they are super-geeks (who will never get laid) but girls are not?

  • ScotScot Member LegendaryPosts: 24,459

Because we are not as judgemental as girls are? :)

  • irpaganirpagan Member Posts: 5

I thought they were all lovely each in her own way, and that the costumes were for the most part pretty good. Best I think they had a lot of balls to do what alot of people will ridicule. I am partial to the Horde :)
