Lets bring back Darkfall!!

worldspin85worldspin85 Member Posts: 187

I can say i havent had as much fun playing darkfall since Everquest first launched!! I'm sure alot of people felt that way. When

darkfall launched the server was full with people huge sieges huge battles lots of action. alot of people have left the game due

to skill advancement, travel, lag, siege sytem, etc. Time has passed and the game has gotten much better for those who

havent resubbed recently i recommend you give it another try. Since the trial has come out i have spoken with alot of new

players and they are loving Darkfall. I asked alot of them what mmo they come from and it seems alot of new players are

coming from wow and other mmo's. I was surprised they gave it a try and i was surprise they were really enjoying the game

and they wanted to bring more friends to the game. When i left darkfall about 7 months back for personal reason one being the

game felt empty. I went to play other mmo's but it didnt feeel the same any more. Its like darkfall changed my thinking of how

a mmo should be. So what im saying is that alot of changes have been made and more are coming back. Its good to see new

players try the game with the free trial, it's really helping the population and community!!! Also alot of old vets are coming back to the game as well starting to see alot more action!

Those who are looking for a change or are looking for a newtype of mmo dont be scared of the pvp give this game a try i bet you it will change your mmo life :D

Those who left darkfall and are thinking of coming back now is the TIme!!!!

I have to agree with this.

It's why I still keep my sub even though I don't play as much as I would like to. At present DF requires a lot of time, but if you aren't in a hurry, it can be a lot of fun.

I really wanted to like this game but the UI is just too much for me to handle. Also, it isn't very nice to look at. I could forgive that if not for the former issue mentioned. I do like a lot of the concepts in Darkfall, just the execution isn't what I was hoping for. I may give it another shot now that its been awhile though.

I tryed the trial, i was shocked at how crap the graphics were, i was even more shocked to find that when you die you respawn at a bindstone ... i was lead to believe this game was a hardcore pvp fight until you die game and not Hello Kitty online.

AV has said they are going to improve the UI with the next expansion called DF2010, so you might want to wait for that if the UI was a huge issue for you.

i used to play so much but now that i cant i work and have school full time so i only really get to play either late at night or early in the mornings.  In the morning only for 2 hours, and at night i play from 11pm till 4 am. but for that little time i get to play i still have fun crafting getting my skills up or killing some mobs stacking up my  gold and enchanting items. For one day i will log on and my clan will need me for a seige i will be ready! What im happy is that they are making prestige classes which will limit the skills people can use which is cool! i hope they do the same to the crafting so not 1 person can craft anything. This will help the economy ! darkfall 2010 is coming and it will be huge! so for the time being even tho i dont have that much time playing im still having a blast.

You really should i did and it was like the differance between night and day. It was pretty good and i was really surprised. The open pvp is harsh but you learn not to carry to much stuff around. Get in a clan also.

I played EQ2 before coming over toe Darkfall and my impression of the world design/graphics was immediate and positive. I felt it was considerably better than EQ2 from a graphic/art direction standpoint.

I think some of that has to do with taste and age but not for sure.

That was basically my experience. I enjoyed this game, but only had about 7 hours a day to play it, which wasn't enough to be competetive.

I just recently took a 2 month break from DFO for personal reasons and missed the hell outa Darkfall. Its done the same to me. I can't play any other MMO unless it offers as much or more then DFO.

I'm not sure DFO will ever become very popular simply because of AVs focus on keeping it pvp focused and more hardcore. It scares many of the care bears away who don't want to learn something new and just stay with what they know. Its sad really because DFO is a wicked awesome experience.

Its possible more people will sub and enjoy DFO once more updates come out but it matters none to me to be honest. I'm playing and loving it. Hopefully eventually more people will sub and find out for themselves what they've been missing.

Or maybe they just don't like pvp?

I mean, I hate crafting (in general) and avoid it like the plague. So if a game is such that you 'have' to craft as there is no other way I don't play it.

I imagine there are people who hate pvp, don't get that thrill (for some reason, some pvp players think that everyone enjoys adrenaline rushes and watcing over their shoulder) and just avoid it.

That coupled with more high profile "bad pvp players" and non-pvp players just stay away.

Sandbox games used to be more than just pvp. We used to join them for the worlds, the ability to work on crafts that actually mattered. We used to play and it was more a social thing, sure it had pvp but they offered so much more that if you didn't like pvp you could still enjoy these games. Darkfall is nothing but Hexan with a rocket arena mod. To make matters worse is you "pvp or gtfo" guys are ruining what could be a really great sandbox experience. The players are so close minded that the developers have no choice but to keep df a shitty lifeless pvp game.

That's an excellent point. But then you inidcated that pvp scares people away who don't want to learn something new and therefore they stay away. So more than likely they are not planning to play dark fall.

However, as Dark Fall is supposed to be a sandbox game it stands to reason that some players might just want to be crafters. probably looking for that old school experience.

IF that is the case then they should be finding guilds who will essentially watch out for them while they make great gear for that guild.

    Win/Win.

What you said AND, when I read about DF, I expected PvP, I did not expect griefing. Grifing and PvP are 2 different things. If DF had no griefing, I could probably live with the grind currently in game. But the griefing is just so annoying, even if it happens just once a week. I hate it in principle and won't stand even an ounce of it.

go to massively.com, right now, and vote for Darkfall for the 'choose my adventure'. Darkfall is leading so it could help =)

  • TheMinnTheMinn Member Posts: 397

"Choose My Adventure", through Massively.com, has Darkfall on it's list and it is currently winning. If you have never been to massively.com you....really....don't care about MMOs as it is the best MMO web site for news and everything else. "Choose My Adventure" is a 2 month program where one of the workstaff plays an MMO, voted by its community, for 2 months. Darkfall is winning and if it does win (come Nov 9) the next step is choosing the race/sex. Though I think, along with Eve, it will be the 2nd MMO that will not have to have a vote for servers. Anywho...just giving a history lesson. I have an old account and if Darkfall wins I will reactive it.

Well, this might be good news for you, but the world is exactly the reason why I play Darkfall. I've mentioned it in other threads, but it's the first thing I told to my friends who asked, "So hey, how's Darkfall going?": the world conveys a sense of danger and excitement I haven't felt in other games for years. Honestly, close mindedness in players has been rarely experienced by me, nearing my fourth week since I began my trial. I see clans and organizations openly welcoming crafters or PvE focused players, and not just the PvP elite. Furthermore, crafting is extremely important to the world, and everything important or useful is made by players (there are uncommon exceptions). Though Darkfall seems less social than I remember UO being during  the T2A period, it's still offering quite a bit more than you're giving it credit for, and it's certainly more than a "shitty lifeless pvp game". Sure, I'll PvP when the fight's coming, and I enjoy PvP in general, but the majority of my time in the game is spent PvE'ing, or just discovering new parts of the world and learning what it has to offer. I would have been happy if this game was solely PvE, with restricted or limited PvP. Since I grew up playing UO, this doesn't really bother me, and I like player vs. player compeition. Really, the balance of player types seems pretty even from my personal experiences, and most of the problems you've listed don't really exist (there will always be PvP elitists in a game like this).
