What mmo(s) are you currently playing and why? Feel free to also mention your class, where you currently stand, etc.

Right now I am currently playing: Aion. Why? I know it gets a lot of smack but I actually enjoy it. I am currently a level 20 ranger Elyos and I am running Haramel for the XP. Also just got the "Eye Of The North" expansion for GW but I need to hit 20 still.

I'm currently playing Eve Online. I also play Magic the Gathering Online which I know isn't an mmo.

As soon as the EQ1 progressive server launches, I'll be playing that as well along with Eve.

    LotR.

Why? Nothing else interests me at the moment so I decided to start from scrath in this game since I rather enjoy it.  Plus, I haven't experienced the content past MoM so when I eventually get there it will all be new to me.

Great game just seems like after a while I catch up to what is available and when that happens I tend to take a break from it until they've added enough content for me to consider a return.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I agree with everything in this post, and am also playing LotRO.

    Important facts:
    1. Free to Play games are poorly made.
    2. Casuals are not all idiots, but idiots call themselves casuals.
    3. Great solo and group content are not mutually exclusive, but they suffer when one is shoved into the mold of the other. The same is true of PvP and PvE.
    4. Community is more important than you think.

    Nothing

    /sigh

I just can't find a game that has the immersion I'm looking for...  I'm really just holding out hope that between Rift, Tera, SWTOR, and GW2, or some other upcoming releases, I"ll be able to find one ore more games to hold my interest.  Right now i'd just be glad to find something to hold my interest 'till then.

I played WoW for way too long, and now i can't stand it, especially with recent changes.

    Maybe I'll try LOTRO...

    Currently playing FFXIV

I'm a big FF fan so I gave it a try. FFXI was ok and this one is ok, but I'm not sure it'll keep me as a subscriber past the free 60 days.

Other than that I'm anxiously awaiting the release of DCUO.

I am currently playing (in order of frequency)

Warhammer - I like grouping. I like PvP. Warhammer is almost constant RvR action. When there is downtime (cause a zone gets locked) I'll play something else, but right now it is 75% of my MMO time. Have a 40r/20rr Warrior Priest from launch. Not playing him cause I didn't understand the r/rr thing and kinda gimped myself. Plus really needed to relearn the game. So mainly playing a 28r/27rr Black Orc and a 19r/18rr Shaman.

Champions Online - most fun character and power customization. Have a level 37 might/force field toon, a 32 basic single blade/ninja, a 32 beastial toon, and 5 or 6 level 20s with all sorts of mixed up powers.

Perpetuum - beta testing. thought i'd be helpful and report some bugs and give good feedback to a new dev. its pretty fun for a beta - though i'm not a total sandbox fanatic.

FFXIV - also beta testing. It was shiny at the store. I am very low level in hand to hand and conjuring. It crashes a lot and then I play another game. Game is lovely to look at. music is growing on me.

EVE -  I need to cancel my subscription due to the above. Great game but I am at the been there done that point. Can fly AF, BC, BS with all t2 stuffs. I guess I keep subbed cause it runs on my sheet work laptop for when Im out of town.

Darkfall, because it offers what I'm looking for in MMO's (sandbox, full loot, territorial control, politics, consequences). I really enjoy that the world feels like a dangerous place. I'll mention Dead Frontier as well, because it's the game I'm playing on the side right now. If you haven't checked it out, they recently updated to a 3D graphical engine and removed the lobby based game system they were using (so now all players co-exist in the same world, and can see one another). For an indy F2P game on the side, it's pretty enjoyable.

Grinding Dekaron... Currently a level 58 azure knight, grinding comission quests and pvping at Dekaron Square.

Why?- The lack of a free online game that comes close to the standards of Dekaron... No op CS; dark atmosphere ;unique classes ;awesome skills ;awesome pvp.

Although it lacks top notch graphics and customization.

Waiting for the "next best thing"....that's free ....

EQ2 - been playing it for over 6 years now.  Great game for endgame - both group and raid.  Can play it with a casual time commitment and still partake in taking on the toughest challenges.  I'm level 90 and leader of a casual raiding guild.

LoTRO - My guild raids in EQ2 twice a week, the rest of the time, I play LoTRO for the storyline and world immersion that EQ2 simply doesn't have.  I've been playing for just over a month since coming back and am level 42 (i came back at 26).

LotRO, because it offers the best pve experience in the genre and honestly after three years playing EVE I could use quality pve.

Elyos?  Orly?  bleh..  Asmodians are way cooler! ;D   I wasn't really into the back-hair though.  But claws?  Ya!  I could scratch people with them suckers.  That was before Elyos killed me over and over.  I was terribad at PvP, so i quitz.  Which is too bad, because I really miss those bouncing fungi.  My, those were cute.

Right now, I'm playing FFXIV because I wanted to try something very different.  Well...it is.  In good and bad ways.  Don't wanna go there, trust me, or this thread will explode at the hands of some others.  I'm currently standing in the market ward still looking for something. XD  (a little FFXIV humor there)

Nothing at the moment. Probably will take a break from mmos until Guild Wars 2 or The Old Republic.

Eve makes me feel the same way. This is why I'm going to try playing two mmo's at once. EQ1 or a similar mmo for great PVE, and Eve for most everything else.

    Everquest.

Great game, great nostalgia, and their new player housing implementation is one of the best I've seen in MMO's. Great to see a classic original from 11 years ago is still alive and kicking, and got plenty of people playing it.

I'm not playing any MMO currently because I've played or tried most of the ones out and none of them can hold my attention any more. Hell I think I'm just burnt out on MMORPGs in general. Its problably going to be awhile before I play another mmo.

im in the maority of those who are burning out the genre and are struggling to find something which is fun to play.. Guild Wars 2 is my lat hope for MMO's within the next 10 years. Played WoW once.. didnt like it.  And don't like how it has the control of the market. Guild wars 2 is breaking free from what a MMO should be like, and going one step further, and its turning out thus far to look very impressive

LOTRO also and I'm enjoying playing as warden lv32 andjust started a minstreal since I noticed is on demand and I like main healing.
I'm also subscribing to WoW but when I play LOTRO and go back to play WoW the 2nd one looks so ugly I end up logging back to LOTRO.
Also bought CE FFXIV but gave up and cancelled it. I see myself playing LOTRO for long time since I don't like ncsoft/gw2 or star wars upcoming mmorpg even tho I love the movies.
I'm into fantasy or medevil mmorpg games so sword/magic is what keeps me playing mmorpgs.
